    Beautiful car. I used to own an 09 Passat Komfort for seven years, and while a leader in its class, it was plagued with so many issues too soon into its life of 120,000 miles. First issue: steering column lock. The water pump that had to be replaced three times, the PCV valve, the randomly drained batteries, leaks from the differential, and a cam tensioner failure all taking the car out with a final punch. This car was built for leasing like its sister Audi-not for long term ownership.

    I had the same problem. remove the seat control panel, and access the small circuit board behind it, take an old toothbrush and clean the rust off it. That's what causing the problem. It should go away for good.

    On a 2013 CC vr6 with pcv issue. There is an aftermarket pcv membrane to replace it in the valve cover. So new valve cover gasket, new pcv membrane from Amazon and a few dabs of rtv silicone will set you back about $70 and an hour of your day and your done.

      In order to get the valve cover off you must remove the intake manifold (and lower fuel rail). The intake manifold won't come off without removing the radiator fans, grill, front bumper and then leaning the radiator forward. I just finished this repair, it is not a one hour job.

    • @jtblazeltw
      @jtblazeltw 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At least on a 2013 cc vr6 the intake is a two piece design so the lower doesn't have to be removed to service valve cover.

    With the seat moving forward... Does it do it with both keys? The car has seat memory depending on the key you use. You can reset the default seat position for that particular key. My R36 did the same when I first purchased it. Changed the default position for each key and issue sorted ;)

    Hi - I'm not sure if someone told you, but these cars have a 12 year corrosion and paint warranty. Take it to the dealer and they should take care of it. I know it's a year and a half old video but - did your mom buy the car new? The seat thing sounds like something a flooded car would do.

    I have a whistling engine and randomly my air conditioning will stop working and the headlight will stop working but then they do again when the car cools down. It must be electrical

    Get the VCDS software and cable. You will be able to retract the rear brakes, diagnose the modules and save $$$$$ on repairs, and keep the car for another 5 years.

    I have a 2006 version of this car (3.6 4motion) and I had the same seat problem except my seat went all the way back. The problem eventually went away. Also your car should still have a rust and corrosion warranty on it. VW has replaced both fenders and my hood all for free within the past year. Now it looks like a new car again.

    You don't need a special tool to get the rear parking break to release! All you need is a car battery, and two wires! Hook each wire lead to one of the battery terminals and unplug the clip that hooks up to the electric motor, and place a wire in each side of the clip. You will either hear the electronic motor detach and you will watch it on spin all the way or, it'll sound like it's trying to tighten even further. Obviously if it's trying to tighten even further just switch each side the wire is on and that way you can do the brake job yourself!

    You need to clean the memory buttonsbon ths drivers seat.....rain and moister gets in there and gums up the works...Clean that switch with electronic cleaner and you phatom moving seat will disapear!!!! My 2007 3.6 4mo wag had issue 3 years ago at 97000 and I did that and still no problems at 140000 now!!!

  • @larryruben5681
    @larryruben5681 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also you need to reprogram the drivers position with the key that your mom uses because using the key remote in is coordinated with the memory seat and mirror position...

    To be helpful and constructive:
    The electronic parking brake needs to be in maintenance mode, which is activated by either VAS (the dealers PC diagnostic software) or VCDS (publicly available software that is great if you own and self-service a modern VAG vehicle). If has a function to retract the parking brake. This is because, to always work fast and reliable, when you actuate the parking brake switch, it will actuate the brake calipers until it draws 17 amps of current (each individual motor meets this criteria individually to ensure they are always correctly applied). When releasing, it simply runs a predetermined distance (number of rotations of the motor) that keeps the caliper clear, but near to the disc. To service, you need to activate the function that moves the motor in the open direction untill end of travel. Afterwards, an adaptation procedure is made, to move the caliper back towards the disc after which it will function normally again.
    Often, you'll be able to find someone in your area, either a professional or a hobbyist, that owns VCDS and can set the function for you for a small amount.
    The mirrors and seat issue is probably related. The seat position is stored, but also the mirror position when driving and for the right mirror also the reversing position. So probably the mirror will be "fixed" by fixing the seat electronics, and really you should prioritize doing it, since it's a safety hazard. It is supposed to move when unlocking/turning on the ignition because the position/driver profile is stored in the keyfob. But when you're actually driving, it should stop, and only move upon manual actuation of either memory position buttons or the manual controls of the seats.

      Year 1 - new gearbox £3k
      Year 2 - 2 x electric rear brake calipers and disks 1.8k
      Year 4 - new catalytic converters needed and timing chain need doing 3-4k
      It's a great car but make sure you can afford the repairs and they hold their value very well and sound fucking amazing

    • @justinenodora6633
      @justinenodora6633 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Toss Ftw yes they do, in fact there was an active action class lawsuit opened until 1/2019 for drivers who experienced timing chain failure; engine failure. In addition, VW group of America rolled out a payout scale depending on year and mileage. I had mines fixed drove it for 3 weeks before breaking again. I took it to car max and got rid of it. These are lease cars not cars to buy.

    • @BornToDriveOfficial
      @BornToDriveOfficial  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's most likely a problem with the fuel injectors and carbon buildup. Try putting a bottle of Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner in an empty gas tank and filling up with premium gas. You can also try revving the engine at 4,000 rpms for 15 minutes on the highway at a steady speed to burn off the carbon deposits in the cylinders. If that doesn't work, bring it to a VW shop and they can do a B&G fuel system cleaning process for $200-$300.

    How goddamn cheap do you have to be to complain about $950 worth of repairs from 15.000 miles of driving? Are you serious? Maybe if you had spent 4 times as much I'd be going "okay that's a bit much" - but $950 from 15.000 miles of driving? Mate, that's nothing! No car I've ever owned has had repairs that cheap

    People like you are what's wrong in America. You have a VW sitting next to a Nissan like wtf are you kidding VW has a failure of 1 in every 45 models, some are cheap repairs most are not. Trade both in for a nice boring Honda CRV and a Toyota Camry and you'd cancel your channel in a month because there wouldn't be any expensive routine maintenance to blog about. Car buying lesson is to always know the maintenance cost after the warranty expires, no excuses.
