This lady is a brave and kind person. Heart of a social worker, skills of a physiotherapist. Problem is that going forward is that no wants to live with their folks anymore. Fillial piety is going downhill fast. I meant just look at how our contemporaries prioritise themselves, their immediate family and their own time. From the social perspective, really glad we have the maids who help take care of these immobile old people, some of which who are even subsidised by the govt to take care of certain old folks with low income.

I can relate how well a nation is taking care of its people by looking at its aged population… so many on wheelchairs, so few coming out for lifestyle enrichments.

“Very often, most elderly persons want to hear a human voice and they long to hear the familiar voice of a loved one,” she said. “For those who are not digitally savvy, please be very patient as they may need more time to pick up digital skills.”

To what I observe... ... most old garbage only need to hear themselves talking to themselves can liao... ... unless they kena problem themselves.
The worse ones share their second hand smoke around instead of money, and their ears or brains already rot liao... ... will not listen.
More deaf than deaf frogs, ie. So no need to worry about that.
You let them pick up digital skill?
You want those zombies to be more exposed to scammers? LOL~ Think carefully... ...

Great job. Elderly tends to "obey" people in medical authorities. Dialect speaking is a plus for your job. Empathy with compassion, patience and love will succeed in relationships with patients. God bless you with strength, wisdom, joy and peace .

Those associated with the oppositions that are anti-foreigners will rely on their own mother or grandmother to take care of them when they age. Many thanks to them for helping to ease the manpower crunch in s'pore.👍👍

Are you having a mental breakdown? If they are to age, wouldn't their mother or grandmother be much much older? Probably no longer around?

This is something the anti-foreigner crowd in Singapore doesn't want to admit. You try asking them, like I did .... if Singapore don't allow foreign maids, how? Just watch their long silence.

I am in my 50s and the primary caregiver to my 70+ mother who is on dialysis. For several years, I used my medisave to help pay for her dialysis but recently was rejected for reasons they gave. I'm still working and has enough medisave. I am upset, angry and disheartened. I have to fork out additional $450 cash every month. I am appealing to cpf and will continue to appeal and appeal and appeal. The govt change their policies silently.

In Hong Kong, I know an Indian colleague who is facing the same situation having her parent going for weekly treatment. However, she only pays HKD100 per week. That’s how gov subsidy should be for healthcare.

Anything and almost everything needed can be bought so it is a question of money the Government with massive reserves, perennial Budget surpluses and billions more in "hidden reserves" has plenty.

How do you overcome presentations anxiety or nervousness when presenting as an introvert? I am still very bad in it and will try to avoid at all cost.

Elderly suicides are on the rise and there is a firewall in Singapore all the time meaning if you want to say anything negative about Singapore you will get the diehards coming your way saying otherwise.
    So what to do?
Well you will grow old one day too. You will know the answer eventually one day too.

First of all, we must get to the basics; there must be a national consciousness like in Japan, Korea, China and Taiwan where respect for the elderly is ingrained in their culture and ethos of society。It is no longer an option or an accessory but part of their national identity. Do we have that consciousness or ethos as a nation?

Singapore’s suicide rate increased from 400 suicide cases in 2019 to 452 reported last year, the highest recorded figure since 2012.
Overall, the suicide rate rose to 8.88 for every 100,000 Singapore residents, up by 0.88 as compared to 2019.
Suicide deaths for youths aged 10 to 29, as well as middle-aged adults between 30 and 59 years old, increased by 7 per cent from 2019, said SOS.

Should focus on living healthy lifestyle instead. Have you seen Chuando Tan? Bugger is close to 60 but still looks 30. Busy work no time exercise is just excuses. If you don't take care of your body, it won't do the same for you when you grow old. I for one don't plan to die with my ass bedridden/stuck on a wheelchair.

We must take care of our elderly by increasing the money they gov gives them and stop elderly suicides rates too high
The number of elderly aged 60 and above who took their own lives is “extremely” worrying as it rose to its highest since 1991, with 154 deaths last year and a 26 per cent increase from 2019, said non-profit suicide prevention centre Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) on Thursday (8 July).

I always hv question to the govt that they have 20 years from 2003 to 2023 to prepare for this ageing transformation project but why until today it is not happening..If they foot the mayor 660,000 annually and why not pay more for elderly care personnel at least 66k for 10 staffs to expand this workforce over 100 over best 10 years..BTW,our 🐷 reserves tonnes of gold...enough to employ local young to take care of local old with more decent or highly pay..am I right??🤔🤫🫣
