On my local stretch of the Thames (Oxford area) The Tench start biting at dawn, you could set your clock by them lol. Never bigger than 3lb but wild as you like and great fun on light tackle. As the sun rises to daylight they disappear as quickly as they arrived. But after a night of bagging up on the Bream up to 8lb and the odd Carp or Barble they are a welcome end to the session. Same bait as I fish all night sweetcorn tipped with a single maggot or small worms. The arrival of small silvers let's you know that the session is over and it's time to go home for breakfast. 😊🐟🎣 Really enjoyed your video, you sound like I do, always expecting to lose the blighters. 👍😊 Liked and subscribed. I've been subscribed now for about a week and let me tell you, if you dare fish one of those commercial fish In a barrel carp lakes we are over! Lol Stick with the wild fish your lucky to have water like that ,our local canal is now unused and just a shallow Reed bed...thanks for reigniting my passion for fishing 👍 great session again.

Great video. Reminds me of my local River for the Bream - had a walk along there yesterday, two and a half foot of water and about 12 between 3-5lb all shoaled up ready to spawn , couldn't miss them. But I will have to wait until 16th June!
@@The_ginger_fisherman If you are ever down West London way I can put you on to a couple of small rivers locally where the water is crystal clear, depth is 2-3ft maximum and you catch 5lb Chub, 2lb Perch and 4lb Bream on light tackle by watching them hit the bait
When we were young, (1960s) we used to catch a lot of pike, by design, on floatfished worm on our local canal... 4lb line and #10. Surprisingly few bit us off ... up to 16lbs too. Nice video. Would love to see some more tench and perch fishing, don’t see many of them where I am now!
I love it when canal tench just bolt unstoppable up stream, all the running from pike make them so strong. Many times I'd be on pole light elastic and off you go running up and down with 9 metre of pole.

Always loved stalking tench my PB is 9lb best bait is a big log worm they just love them or strawberry gluged pellet or boillie , split shots always spooks them they love it when the worm just flutters down
Funny you should say that. Last night was out with the light rod 2lb line and saw a ghost carp. Cast some crust to it and bam it screamed off and broke me in the weed. Dont know why i even bothered casting to it to be fair XD

Thanks Richard. The net im using is an abu garcia predator landing net, but you can also get savage gear and fox ones that are all pretty much the same
Caught a 16 LB common carp on the local canal. We'd cast our rods at 00:00 June15/16th. We'd watched this group of 4 carp, a mix of 2 common, mirror and a leather, patrolling most of the blistering hot day. Then about 3 pm my mate took his girlfriend home and bored I thought I'd chance dropping a freelined nugget of maize on their nose as they came by next time (the carp, not my mate and his bird lol). I knew I'd have to be spot on or the maize would sink before they're likely to take it. I hadn't seen them take anything from the surface but that was the most exciting take up to that day
