@R.M It's just a studio call by the hired producer or maybe even record company. Producers will usually edit out if too many runs or artist goes too hard. They will keep for future or other mixes or should they decide to do a live recording. They feel this keeps song relatable ... where the average joe, at least can feel as though they can sing it (even if in their dreams). And they (the producers) always want to keep it not too over the top. This way, when the artist finally goes live with the song, the artist has room to really embellish, vocally play and go full out if they want---and the audience who already loves the song...is now really in fandom heaven and loving the artist even more. Of course, if they should sit in on the mix, a many artist may throw and scream a hizzy fit when they feel the producer chops up, kills and/or eliminated on the final pass/cut, some of their best vocal. But that kind of discernment is what truly what makes a good producer. This, though just my opinion, has been the experience of what I have seen and know of in the studio.

Whitney LIVE was a beast like no other. Her live renditions of Greatest Love of all were absolutely phenomenal..far more so than the album version.
