I know of a glitch in this game that I haven't seen documented anywhere. Could you maybe cover it yourself one day? That'd be cool. Anyway, here's how to do it: Go to any level where you can hold something and be under a ceiling that prevents a Mega transformation. (1-2 is easiest.) You need to have a Mega Shroom in your item slot. Grab anything holdable, like a shell, (or in 1-2, a spring from the lower path) and head to your ceiling of choice. (If you choose 1-2, break the lower path at the beginning before doing anything else.) You need to make sure you don't have any power-ups on Luigi for this to work. (It doesn't matter which bro you are for this, but I think Luigi needs some representation.) Hold the item, tap the Mega Shroom, and make sure Luigi can get through some of his growing animation before shrinking back down. Let go of the item as he is shrinking. You'll know if the glitch worked if Luigi is holding an invisible item. It can be inconsistent, but this method works most reliably for me. This now makes Luigi and anything he does very wonky-looking. If you pick up anything else, the game will crash. Sometimes before the item is in Luigi's hands, and sometimes a few seconds after throwing it. It's also ridiculous looking if you can get to a level where you can perform the glitch and reach the end without making a transition, like a pipe for example. The weirdest thing besides the crash has to be what I discovered while doing this in 2 Player mode. Go to the Ice level in multiplayer. This level not only has a shell you can hold, but also a blue shell turtle, the only one in the whole game. Once you activate the glitch, get the blue shell and either crouch or start spinning. One of Luigi's hands is enlarged significantly and his head is sticking out of his shell. It's weird, but I found it somewhat interesting to say the least.
I couldn't replicate it... I grab the item, use the mega shroom, let go of the iten mid shrinking and nothing happens! The item just falls on the ground
The kill in 7-Castle with Lakithunder was actually the original strat used to kill him quickly in Cannonless, 100%, and All Levels lol. We've started doing a faster, yet harder, strat though.

speedrun glitches: if you put in this precise enemy position and then do a button combo as you go into a pipe, reset the stage and reload the stage, you can teleport to the end of the game and beat the game in seconds. it will take hours of practice to do. Dpad gamer: mario walk backwards woo cool
I knew about the play as Luigi code but not the Challenge code. Which I only about the Luigi one because a friend showed me it when I was playing the game. Sadly I don't own the game anymore so I can't use the Challenge code.

Thanks for the Lakitu cloud glitch. I have 100 percenter everything in NSMBDS except for the total point count and I have been using that glitch to help get me there. I got a long way without it but since there is nothing else new to do I figured I'd let myself have some fun with the glitch.
I don't know why you would make of list of glitches for new super mario bros because that game was made a while ago, but it helps because I'm trying to play that game again with my old ds so uhh thanks for helping

I can’t remember what I did, but I got soft locked in the final boss in World 6 once. It was the moles in the tank that shot bullet bills. I remember crouching to avoid the bullet bills when the boss went into it’s crazy bullet mode, but it never stopped, and softlocked me.
Great video, I think the only one you missed was the blue shell double jump, which is also used by speedrunners at 8-2 to clear out the barrel section faster
It would be amazing if Nintendo made a Mario game with HD sprites (not realistic, just HD) because ive seen some enemies from this game are actually sprites and they actually look pretty good. *Except for the goombas and koopas, they are cursed*
I have discovered 2 more glitches. In the ghost house with bruisers (world 3 I think) if you are mini and land on the stairs just right, you can go through them. The world 5 ghost house, in the room where you get the spring from a hidden block, if you are mini and land on the hidden block (with it still hidden) you will slide across the room.
Not really a glitch, but still a pretty funny thing I haven't seen anyone else talk about: In any vertically scrolling levels, the mini map on the bottom screen still uses the horizontally scrolling map, so as Mario rises and falls throughout the stage, the image of Mario on the bottom screen will constantly move backwards and forwards to keep up with it. If you die in one of these stages, as Mario performs his death animation in which he falls of the screen, the image of him on the second screen will continue to rapidity move backwards to keep up with it.
Mario noclipping through walls isn't a glitch: It's the intended behavior of a relatively uncommon edge case: _What to do if big Mario gets stuck in a space that's too small for him._
