So thankful you added this video. I’m 25 and my neighbor(who has liver and lung cancer) gave it to me while she was going through her things. This video helped me SO MUCH😊 THANK YOU THANK YOU
I love that u uploaded the instructional video thank you waiting on a bond knitting machine now I only have a dental I can't wait !!!! So exciting to learn whatever I can about them !
You’re welcome. I still have a VCR but I figured most people don’t, so I thought I’d share the VHS incase someone has a Classic and can’t watch the video.
Thank you for this video, just what I needed. I owned a Bond Classic 32 years ago but got rid of it when I got my own place. Just bought a second hand one with no instructions or video so this is perfect 😊
Hello, my mom bought in 1988 a bond knittng machine. I remembered, but never used it. Recently want to use but I dont know how until now. Thanks a lot. I try again.... hugs from Mexico.
I just got a flash back to sitting in front of a huge tv and video stand cross legged at school. Its the intro music I think, showing my age though I suppose. ;0) I just discovered a bond classic with ribber in a bundle of second hand machines I picked up, so actually this is a great help.
I can hand knit, but really want to try one of these. Do you know if to make ribbing you have to have an extra part? If so i guess i can do it by hand. Also, if the cast on part has rips, can it still work/be taped up? Thank you x
so helpful!! I've just dug out the Bond I was given a few years ago to have a go and this is great!! THANK YOU! Just discovered my machine doesn't have the green and yellow cards - can you tell me the dimensions of them pls so I can make my own? Are they just card or plastic? I've tried to find some replacements but no luck so far! Thank you!
Aww glad you found it helpful. The green cards are just pieces of cardboard effectively. They green cards are 200mm wide, 65mm deep and 1mm thick. The yellow card is 199mm wide, 55mm deep and 1mm thick.
Hi, thank you for this video, it's so helpful...but my Classic Bond Knitting Machine looks like made of plastic except the needles....what do you know about this model? ( I bought it second hand, but new, most probably they couldn't start as me)... Anyway, I don't know why I can't knitt even if I followed your video ..Till the minute 5 I was fine....than very disappointed...you have idea why? Tnx
All the Bonds were made of plastic apart from the needles. I am not sure why yours is not knitting properly. When you put the keyplate in, make sure it fits under the two pips at the back if the carriage. Also make sure your latches are open and your hem is hung correctly. 🙂
So after many researches, I found the secrets, now I am fully in love with this Bond Knitting Machine....I am using it every day, can't stop thinking at it even when I'm not at 🏠
You would have to do an e-wrap cast on to prevent it from unravelling. With the open cast on method, which unravels, as you've found, you are meant to rehang the stitches near the hem(after finishing the knitting) back on the machine to do the ribbing. The manual explains how to do this, and there's probably a video here too!
Look for the Ultimate Sweater Machine video, it shows you how to do it. The Classic video doesn’t show this because it came in one piece. The Incredible Sweater Machine came in two pieces, only the UK version of the tape shows how to join the two beds, the US version of the tape doesn’t show this.
Hope someone can help me: once you have cast off, How do you take the weighted hem off your knitted item- I used nylon cord, do I just pull it out? will the stitches unravel if you dont follow the ribbing instructions first? I dont have any instructions, I bought the machine second hand. Cant find the answer anywhere!
Lisa- I have the USM and i took a finished piece off the machine and took out the elastic thread and the weighted hem off and my knitted item DID unravel as I did not do the ribbing first. I’m tryna find some instructions that will allow me to take a finished piece off the weighted hem without it unraveling. I have the book, CD and everything that came in the box as I bought the Deluxe Model about 8 years ago!!!
If you’re using the nylon cord, open the hem and give a pull from either end to loosed it, then pull it out from one end or the other and it should slide right out. If you use elastic, leave the hem closed, pull against the knitting to expose the elastic thread and with small scissors, snip out the elastic bit by bit all the way across the knitting until you get to the end. NEVER pull the elastic thread out of the hem. This will rip the vinyl strips on the hem.
Has anyone given you an answer to the weighted end not unraveling when you take off the work?? Have you figured it out? I cannot find the answer anywhere!

I'm struggling with my ultimate sweater machine. The carriage keeps getting jammed 😢
I tried to cast on the same as in the video, but my yarn just keeps getting caught in the hooks and it becomes a tangled mess. What am I doing wrong?

does anyone know how to remove the work from the weighted end without it unraveling??

does anyone know how to connect the 2 pieces of the machine together? none of the videos i have found have told me.
