  • I built a water storage system so we can have fresh water to mix cement during the day when the water from the municipality isn't available.

    Great Idea and nicely done. I would suggest a manifold running along the top access holes to a vent pipe for each barrel . I believe that will allow all barrels to fill to the top. Loosening the cap will work as a stop gap method, I am comparing your set up to holding tanks for gasoline with the vent pipes being 12 feet or more above for a similar reason, as well allowing any vapors that may be present to safely go to atmosphere. Not meant as criticism just observing and talking, I will be doing a similar system for back up water. Thanks for the share.

    Very useful and definitely will be building similar in Ghana. Thank you.

    Your design came out the best. I was thinking about using 1/2 inch nylon bushings to connect your rain water barrels.

    Awesome ideas, thank you so much. Trying to find some ways for my Girlfriends family not to have to walk 15 minutes to carry water home. The roof can collect rainwater.

    Good idea did you have any trouble filling the barrels from the first barrel? Agree with comment below maybe slope the angle to help filling and gravity pressure.

      as long as the top caps are loose they all fill and drain great. eventually they will be elevated when i build my house and that will provide pressure. right now we are just filling water buckets for mixing cement.

    Can i ask where you guys avail those plastic barrels? Im at Cebu City, is there a nearby stores with those?

    • @myparadiseonbantayanisland9030
      @myparadiseonbantayanisland9030  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Most hardware stores sell them for about 1300 pesos each. The ones I get had some kind of alcoholic beverage in them like wine or rum, you can smell it when you open the cap. They should be easy to find just ask at the nearest street hardware store.

    • @myparadiseonbantayanisland9030
      @myparadiseonbantayanisland9030  ปีที่แล้ว

      It originally held rum and I rinsed it out, I only use the water to mix concrete. If you want drinking water just rinse with soap and water and disinfect with chlorine. You can smell the inside and if it's chemicals then do not use for drinking or bathing or washing clothes. There are 2 holes in the top on each side for inspection and filling or draining.

      Best Dooms Day Gear Building the benches took a day or so and doing the plumbing just took a few hours. I had to go to a machine shop to get the white caps drilled because I did not have a hole saw/drill bit that size.

    Whats the name of that black color in series pbc

    • @myparadiseonbantayanisland9030
      @myparadiseonbantayanisland9030  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is 1/2 inch back water tubing that comes in a roll, I don't know the actual name, however it is common at most hardware stores in the Philippines. And the black fittings are compression fittings. The black pipe comes in thin and thick wall and is available in 1/2, 1 inch and maybe other diameters.
      I use the thin walled for my drip irrigation system too, the thick wall is very hard to punch holes in for the drip irrigation fittings.

    • @myparadiseonbantayanisland9030
      @myparadiseonbantayanisland9030  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is just a gravity flow water storage. You could connect a pump to get more pressure out of it.

      Usually by hand, but if it is stuck then a screwdriver and a hammer then tap it around until it is loose.
