@Haxterz Low budget or small dev team is not an excuse. Wreckfest is a good example of this. They launched a crowdfunding campaign to get the starting budget they needed, launched in Early Access, had admittedly a rocky and slow development cycle, gained enough attention to get a publisher behind the game in the final stages and got out of early access with an excellent spiritual successor to Flatout. All this with under 20 employees.

The rubberbanding is insane holy shit. They are super slow when infront and super fast when behind. Even if you use nitrous for half a minute straight.

@@snowcrash512 I played burnout paradise and I dont remember the rubber banding being so terrible there. Nowadays I've been more into PC2 and Dirty Rally 2 so maybe those games are just influencing how I remember it.

The PC version of this is worse because there are no leaderboards. Why? Because the Epic Games Store doesn't support that feature.

While the algorithm is not perfect and everything, it does pretty good job at filtering games you don't want out. The only reason I'm even aware of Digital Homicide is because I watched Jim Sterling videos. I have never ever seen terrible games Jim covers on store front or in my discovery or recommended list or anywhere. It's amazing you think less games and less choice is somehow good thing. It's amazing you need the overlords at Epic to decide for you what games are worthy to spend your money on.
Bad game? Sure. Worst Game of 2019? Nah, being playable and having some positive aspects pretty much saves it from that title.

The game was made by a 7 member team, they are ex Criterion developers that worked on the Burnout games. DD is meant to be the modern day Burnout 3, hence why it’s menus are so simple. It still needs a lot of polishing though but personally, it’s far from the worst of the year (imo).
Impressive for seven people but they clearly needed more hands on this game!

Was searching for this comment. You can even change the volume to match the game from the home button. Been using Spotify on rocket league for years
@@pygmalion0451 obviously but it's still unnecessary when you can use Spotify beside any game on the system. You can turn down in game volume and/or adjust Spotify volume to match. It's an unnecessary addition for anyone playing on PS4. I can't speak for the Xbox users
@@pygmalion0451 with your phone linked to Spotify you can adjust the music from your phone and it will adjust it on the PS4 simultaneously. It's actually extremely convenient. Besides that my system never crashes on me.
xbox does as well. I think the integration is just for skipping songs with in game controls lul

Im happy to not buy this game since its on Epic Games Store AND its very underwhelming, especially after playing Danger Zone 1 & 2 that run on the same exact game engine.........Was hoping for a major comeback for "Burnout."
Gladly I can always go back playing Burnout HD on PS4.
The slow-motion crashes are cool only if you've got some sick car destruction physics in your game. Otherwise it's like watching two bricks collide... very slowly.

So it's burnout 3 but with 1/3rd of the content. Was excited for this but now I'm gonna pass. Unless it's like £10.
Basically yeah it does play and feel a hell of a lot like Burnout 3, it's actually a decent racer once you learn to boost non stop and learn drifting. Its neat the game let's you link to Spotify so you can play tunes in game and use the d-pad to change to the next song.

Martin Ivanov as coming from someone who’s has a trophy score of 29 and thousands of trophies on multiple game I am a seasoned vet oh games, and I can tell you sit down and play it and get into the mechanics you’ll love it, Joe for 1 wasn’t even boosting, hardcore burnout vets will tell you, you ain’t racing unless your boosting, boost non stop is the key especially late game, remember in B3 takedown the F1 point to point race that you had to perfect on to get gold? No crashes plus constant boost was perfect it got you gold and a tonne of retry because 1 crash, that craving and feeling still exists in this game trust me

For anyone curious, this game is made by former Burnout devs on a budget of next to *nothing* (hence the menus, effects etc.). Check out Digital Foundry's review if you want actual information.
This game looks good for a small team. Hope they can fund a new game and improve the systems.

This game could be made with UE4 basic racing template.
Having a small dev team or even being a single person of course means you won't get a AAA title. But that doesn't mean you can't make a good game. Just like how hardware limitations cannot limit the quality of your game.
I watched "search for the worst" channel yesterday and he says about movies something that is true for everything "it's not because you can make x that if it's to make shit you should"
But budget can. They were given a stupidly small budget for this game. It doesn't excuse that it came out bad, but budget truly does limit a game. Their budget here was so small that they had to put Spotify in because they couldn't license any tracks at all.
Problem is that nobody seems to read up or follow games and processes like this. A dev team or 12 people, without a budget, licensing limitations and an inability to even use assets they already created does this.

@@sleightlyhandy889 budget of course puts a limit just like hardware limitations. You can't do triple A graphics with a tiny budget. But you can ALWAYS make a great game. If you don't have a high budget, you don't go for Story heavy 3D animated and voiced cutscenes or realistic graphics for example. Things like that. That's what being a good game designer is. Making a game that works with what you have. Every game can be a 10/10. Retro games were an absolute nightmare to make. But that difficulty is what pushed and trained the devs to get out every single last drop of potential out of what they had in their hands both in budget and technology.

I can appreciate that some of the original developers of Burnout tried to make a spiritual successor, but they clearly didn't have the time or budget to pull it off.
