hello toyman. i enjoy you two so much. previously i said something about serving this nation without what it was. i am a atomic veteran for the USAF. and again folks like you two make me happy i did. no thanks please. mommie dearest had me signed in 9th grade and at 18 i was being washed for life.
It was different then. I thing reality lies between the two. Service is a job. And it’s a honor. But its a collection of people. Some good some not. Not every homeless vet is a hero. Or a villain. 100 people 100 stories. None the same.
I have a bachmann ten wheeler that’s modeled after the tweetsie engines, and I had the same thought as you, but I never knew this kit existed! thanks. now it’s time for me to do my search as well. good luck with your rebuild on your engine, can’t wait to see the final product
The upgraded versions with metal wheels have a much larger motor than the battery operated versions. I bought a battery version for a nephew when he was young. He loved it.
Thank you for another fine episode! I learn so much from your channel. I'd like to have a train set, but I want something smaller, much smaller than a G scale. But I don't want to go too small where I can't see the finer details.
I got a Bachmann 10 wheeler in a starter kit for Christmas! It ran for a few years and then died... I keep the train but recently trashed it, as Bachmann got it's nickname "trashman"... I wish I knew about this upgrade kit as I would've kept, I loved the look of it, oh well😒
Dale the silver connectors are for the smokestack and for the light you use your existing like that you have to solder it on to the switch little heads up
Nice video. Did not know these were no longer available. I bought one directly from Bachmann about ten years (?) ago. I think it was even on sale. Like you, I was impressed at how elaborate the running gear is. I have several Big Haulers, have not tried the surgery yet. Did you attempt it?
Yes, several times! The big haulers are just all over the place, but the anniversary version is really hard to find and highly sought. But that mechanism is around and it’s really easy to switch out on any of the big haulers.
Interesting project, and nice valve gear. I assembled some years ago an On30 kit with complete valve gear, it is very nice when finished, but not much fun while doing it.
The building is most of the fun but sometimes you really need to remind yourself that. Gritting your teeth. “Gee this is sooooo fun!!” But it really is. I think.
It is 12:30 where I live and it is night I love you videos you guys accyuraly inspired me to create my own carriage or caboose and at the museum that I work at there is a caboose there
Let's say I have an RC 1st generation big hauler 4-6-0 (you know the one that runs on 9-volt batteries). If I put the new chassis on it, will it still be run on RC 9 volt batteries?
Thanks for replying back Toy Man, I have been a Big Daddy Ed Roth “ Rat Fink” fan since I was about 6yrs old , l’m 59+ now. From bubble gum card stickers to iron on art on tee shirts to the many car magazines articles on Ed , enjoy them all. I really like your 1967 Shelby GT500, very nice ride, Congts on your award at the show. I’am a model railroader in HO, O, S, and G, scales. I am having a addition added on to my garage to accommodate all of my trains, hopefully construction starts in one month. Keep up with your updates on trains or car shows, very much enjoyed, take care.😎👍
@@ToyManTelevision No thank you for producing your vids. PS Does Google's algorithm have the ability to decipher between someone giving fill and real commentary! :-)
I have the green American classic express. The main drive gear cracked. I have a small collection of trains. About 150. 1 g scale. So 151. Don't know what to look for or how to find 1 other than get the whole train again or the red 1. Ideas?
That’s a big problem on many Bachmann trains. They have offered repair and replacement gears and parts and the newer ones don’t have that problem. I need to look more into it. But it’s a BIG known problem
Does anyone here know if Bachmann's HO locomotives use imperial or metric screws? Bachmann customer service has proven to be unsatisfactory. (I had a screw fall out and the drive rods of my 2-6-0 fell off.) Thanks.
@@ToyManTelevision Just bought a digital micrometer from Harbor Freight, and it reads 2.5mm! Right between the 2 imperial sizes. Amazing what I can do with the right tools.
Can be on eBay. New no. But new Bachmann are ridiculous. However nobody sells the night list price. Fairly common to see them for even half of the list price on eBay
The latest 4-6-0 is a different beast to the 4-6-0 that the replacement chassis are made for. The latest version has metal gears. Half of Bachmann's recommended retail price is a realistic price.
First, the Anniversary Edtion of the 4-6-0 is NOT a Spectrum model, never has been. I own 6 of them, have owned 9 of them. Again, you say SPECTRUM over and over, NOT a Spectrum. Is the Anniversary Edition, been around for 20 years. I avoid the orginal 4-6-0 Big Haulers like the plauge, the the "Annie's" are awesome, with a capital A. I know many who have done what you suggest in the video, buying the Annie bottom chassis and putting it on the normal Big Hauler. The problem is that the top of the 4-6-0 still look like crap, the Annies have all metal trim and are SO much better on the top of the chassis as well.
@@ToyManTelevision Bachmann has several models that are almost Spectrum in G scale. The Industrial Mogul 2-6-0 is another, a is the 0-4-0 Porter. They also have great metal trim, and great detail and seem like Spectrum, but aren't. Actually, the Porter's were later Spectrum, but the 2-4-2's were not, despite being extremely detailed with all metal trim Not sure why all those models weren't labeled as Spectrum.

I can’t wait to see your rebuilt C&S 4-6-0 on the new railroad. I had long ago converted a Bachmann On30 2-6-0 to something similar.
Great model. Don regauged his to On3.

Mine was only 80 bucks. Keep looking on eBay
They are always available on the Bachmann Trains online parts website.

The first one was a toy. But the Annie a real great model locomotive
Thanks for finding this stuff
Looking forward to building Er rebuilding my ten wheeler. Few other projects in the cue as well.

No big deal. Get a new one! EBay!!
Did you ever finish this project? I'd love to see another episode on this!
Also check out the bodies that go onto these chassis their detail is fantastic absolutely and they also have a Lotta road names
Will do!

Yup! I need to make changes as I really altered the original
Hey Dale. Hey Karyn. Another fun video. :)
Hi!!! Hope you are well
@@ToyManTelevision I'm doing well, thank you. :)
The Annie name came from the “10 year Anniversary” model Bachmann released around 1999-2000. The Annie is not part of the spectrum line however.
Yup. You hear it called that but I guess it never was.

Look on Bachmann’s parts site they are available for around $45

You wait for Bachmann's 20% off parts sales and they are even cheaper!
Always around. My running gear was only 80 bucks!
couldn't find them unfortunately
Chris Hawkins the site isn’t easy to navigate. But just looked and seen a few still available
great video toy man :)
Thanks
Any video on your backyard setup?
Nope. Wish I had filmed more. A had a vhs. Perhaps it will turn up.

I will
twirl town is my life.lol. i have a 0-8-0 needs side rod work and i cannot see to do it. my toys and hobbies kept me sane
There is a problem though, Bachmann parts is running out of stock of many Annie parts
Yup. Mine eBay. It’s all there. At some point.
Selling down parts waiting for that promised run of a new, further upgraded DCC ready version.

Nope. Well you could set that up.. but the new chassis is track power. But anything is possible... but not without a major reworking.
Great infro, Toy Man! By the way, Rat Fink shirts 👀 great 👍 Ed Roth forever 😎

75 bucks. Super good!
You might want to stiffen up the pilot truck too while you are at it. They break and the improved version is no longer in stock.
I shortened one. That didn’t go well. Looked great. Didn’t work
