Austrailia, cool! I intend to visit one day. Brilliant! It's such a nice engine. I know the benefits of battery, but I'm keen to keep track power as I hope to have a fully automated DDC system. Thank you!
This video is very handy because when Bachmann came out with these they never did a Lubrication video on the Spectrum Mogul. Well done BTG as the Bachmann.
Ha! Yes, well that was the reason I decided to do a video, and I filmed myself just being me. Then I got the idea to parody the original videos, so I scrapped my first take and mocked up the Bach-Man 😂. It was fun to do. Thanks Mate!
I have been a model railroader for some 40 years and Bachmann's downfall has always been the use of CHEAP plastic on ALL scales of locomotives GEARS. They were making a living for Northwest Short Line making gears. 😅
It was a real mistake of theirs, unfortunately. Good they did change to metal gears later on, but yes they have given Northwest Short Line some business 😂. Thanks for commenting.
Hey...great rendition of the Bachmann operating and servicing maintenance manual/dvd Si-Mann !!! Loved the studio set up, accent and music, awesome! 🤣👏🏻 I have the same line of lubes here too, so important they are regularly maintained due to that many moving and working parts. I hope your Saturday nights going well, just cracked open a beer and having some downtime to catch up.....🍻😎 “ PIPES “
Ha! Thank you. Yeah the Bachmann videos had different music in their videos, from similar cowboy country/folk to what I used, to really theatrical orchestral. They didn't play the music through the actual instructional section though, but I felt it needed some cheering up. 😁 My Saturday also included beer. Cheers! 🍻
Hey Simon ... quite the actor; you had me fooled thinking the "Lub Instructor" was an American, not you. Took me three viewings of this video and looking at your FaceBook pictures for me to realize your full talent, not just "quitar man!" Stay young, remain vertical. Cheers, Dr. Ric
Ha! Thanks so much, I'm glad you followed the recommendation. That layout is actually only a temporary one. I have ambitious plans, but I need to move to a house with a big enough garden first. SO much adventure to come, so thanks for coming with me! 👍
LOL you're a riot brother... Here's and interesting tid bit... The Stanley Tool kit you have... That company has its roots in my home town, Bridgewater Ma. in the 1880's... Then it was called Stanley Mill Works... They moved to Ct. in the 1890's because of the increase freight cost for raw materials by the NY, NH&H RR... Thanks for all your hard work brother... keepem coming! P.S. check out a product called Dielectric grease, it's widely used in the automotive industry and should be readily available in the UK...
Ha!!! Thank you. I'm just having fun. That's really interesting. Stanley, a very well known company, mainly for their knives. Here, even if a retractable blade isn't made by Stanley, it's often still called a 'Stanley Knife'. Is that the same over there? Cheers David!
@@ThatBIGTRAINGuy Yes.. it's one in the same... They are the standard here for utility knives... I have a few in my tool box... I was surprised when I saw your tool kit... I didn't realize they sold them over there...
@@davidedgerly Yep, it's been a standard name here for decades. Interesting! It's funny actually, as when I bought that screwdriver set, I thought "Oh, Stanley make things other than knives! Cool!" 😂
@@ThatBIGTRAINGuy Toyman Television should come with a government health (wealth) warning; I've recently brought an Accucraft K-36! Images are on Twitter... 😀🍺👍
Just got a similar engine in which a slow test resulted in a buckling of the rear drive wheel somwhow mis - quartering and attempting to bend the "plastic" back drive rod. I managed o wiggle things back in line somehow without removing screws. Mine might need some oil to do better. At least it would certainly help.
Oh no! I hope it turns out ok. Yes, proper lubrication will help. Older Bachmann engines have nylon gears which are prone to cracking. Be wary of that.
I love your workbench tools. Can you post the video where you do model train maintenance with a pick ax? I use some medium weight oil called Hob E Lube. Comes with a long applicator so you can reach tiny spaces. I use the LGB grease for the gears but the metal gears in these new Moguls probably likes the white lithium grease.
Haha! Well, I can't say I've used the pick axe yet, but it's there if ever I have a situation where only it will do. 😉 Nice. Once I've used up the EZ Lube, I might try some other Hob-E-Lubes, or have a look at the ones that Peco offer. Thabks for your comment! Simon
Ha! Yep. I can do an ok American accent, but it took some practice to sound so close to the original guy. 😂 Errr, not sure. Plastic compatible, yes. May need to check.
@@ThatBIGTRAINGuy I have been thinking of a Christmas or holidays video. I may actually show my face in it. Break my trend. I have been thinking of asking the people who normally do voices in my vids to video a running of their favourite train (any scale or type) and saying (on or off camera) a holiday message to the model train and broader world. Mention from where they are sending the message. I will cut it all together. I will also ask others who aren’t voices in my vids but who follow the channel. Interested? I will make it a sort of fraternity of modellers wishing others a great season.
