    Keep up the good work matey. I live in Pembrokeshire so will defo be trying this method on the Cleddau. There have been some nice early season trout caught here. Tight lines my friend :-)

      Thanks so much Tom! I love West Wales man! Done a bit of fishing in your area myself! Best of luck, you’ve got some mighty fine water there! 🙌

    Great video and great fish. Well done. Where did you get your Calcutta Conquest from,please. Have you tried this method for sewin?

      Thanks so much Dave! I appreciate that!
      I purchased the Calcutta Conquest from Asian Fishing Portal!
      I didn't have a chance to do what I had planned this season on the Sewin unfortunately my friend. I have every confidence they will be catchable in this way though!
      Thanks a lot, and I hope you enjoy the next vid!

      Cheers. I'm looking forward to the next one. My only concern with sewin fishing is whether or not the gear would cope with a big fish!

      I use small Rapala Countdowns a fair bit on the Dyfi with good success,but I don't use my BFS gear for them,though. Don't think I have the bottle!

    • @TheFishist
      @TheFishist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would definitely avoid using my lighter trout BFS rods for the Sea Trout, but I think the rod I'm using in this video paired with 15lb Braid and a strong fluoro leader would be somewhere in the region of handling most except for the very largest specimens perhaps. I'd be willing to give it a good go though!

      @@TheFishist I'll have to give it a try next season. All the best,Dave.

    Really enjoying the videos nice to see you using single hooks on your lures what size hooks are you using. What's the most go to lure for you 👍

    • @TheFishist
      @TheFishist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm glad you're enjoying them man, I'm enjoying making them!
      I really do rate using singles over trebles for Trout, particularly where there are numbers of smaller fish, nothing worse than a small trout rolling on a treble! Single Hook size depends on the lure size of course, but for a 5cm lure I use a Size 6 or so, scaling up or down the hook size accordingly!
      This last season I've had most fish on the Major Craft Zoner Minnow 50sp, but I've also had some nice fish on the Rapala Countdown 5cm!
      I hope you enjoy the next video mate! Cheers!

    Awesome video. Can I just ask, are you left or right handed? I am right handed and always cast with my right hand and reel with my left. I see so many people casting then swapping hands to reel. The way you do is the same as me, so much more control and speed when you need to re cast.

    • @TheFishist
      @TheFishist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello there Tom, and thanks for the compliment!
      I'm right handed my friend, and this is the way I like to fish!
      I think a big factor with people using right-hand wind reels is just that they are used to that way! My belief is that it stems from a time when left-handled baitcasting reels just weren't popular. Still to this day in America most of them will cast and swap hands to retrieve.
      For me there is a lot more efficiency in the way we do it. Whilst it's only a split second to swap hands, over the course of a year this adds up to a substantial amount of time.
      Each to their own sir!
      Thanks for the comment man!

    Could you tell me what set up you use with the zoner minnows?

    • @TheFishist
      @TheFishist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there my friend! I fish the Zoners on a few different setups depending on the venue, in this video it was the Shimano Calcutta with the Major Craft SpeedStyle 642UL/BF. I'm using 13lb Sufix 832 braid as a mainline to a 6lb Major Craft Dangan Fluorocarbon leader.
      I've got a few rods I throw them on though, the Major Craft trout rods I have are stunning for this style of fishing. With single hooks the Zoners weigh sub 2 grams, and I've had no issue casting them on any of the rods I use for the Trout!
      Hope this helps mate, cheers.
