Playing BDO for the past 5 years and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. It's always a good time when I login. No forced daily chores and no progression reset like every other MMORPGs focused on raiding/dungeons.
Didn't they move to a season format where you have to start a new character every season to get the benefits and content from that season? Having to start a new character to earn content rewards is resetting.
@@MeowMixKix Not really, season rewards are good to have for newer players but not necessary to progress it's a sandbox game after all you choose how you progress.
As for the solo grinding game most of time, CM's and GM's are pretty much active. Once we were grinding with guild on Gyffin and then suddenly a GM popped up saying "Hello". Im loving it. Found a guild and been fishing daily with them, got the new Pegasus, and been doing the main questline. The combat is what hooked me in when i first tried it a couple of years ago. I main a Valkyrie. :)
as a long term bdo player and content creator myself, im glad bdo is getting the players it deserves. it is such a good game that has been plagued with the stigma of how the old company used to run the game
The problem is the gameplay loop buddy, its so monotone after a while. Would it be that hard to implement new gameplay stuff? Like how about horse races, snowboarding or stuff like...who can do a certain activity the longest in 2 minutes and giving the first 3 players money for it like in gta 5...quick fast fun, that is what is missing.
There have been horse race in the game for years now. There is an unbelievable amount of thing to do in this game. If you think it's boring, you can only blame yourself for doing the same thing over and over.
@@__-fi6xg for a sandbox MMO, they could use more Mini game type stuff that like ff14 has. As for the gameplay loop. i mean, imo there will always be a "loop" in any MMO type game you play. its whether you enjoy the game enough to endure said Loop. in this game there is so much to do that its kinda hard to say the loop is bad, since if you don't like what you're doing you can do something completely different and still Progress your account in a meaningful way.
@@__-fi6xg then youre looking for a different game, BDO has tons of things to do, you people looking for something that isnt there. I think an important detail to mention about the free T9 horse they are giving away is that it comes with ALL horse skills learned. So you do not have to worry about having to play the RNG/wallet part to get the best skills on it.

I've been playing BDO since its release in the west in 2016. It's refreshing to see the game's reputation improving with the public and those who left a long time ago. The QOL and region updates have been incredible progress from the devs and lately they seem to be listening to us a lot more. Just wait until they release the Japanese-themed region where the kuno and ninja come from. There will be hordes coming to play.
Started again 2 weeks ago. Very glad to see so many streamers and youtubers trying it out. Would be great if lots of people follow and actually give it a shot! Great work!
As someone who has been playing BDO since it launched it has been a lot of fun seeing so many people giving the game another shot after years of QOL changes. I hope everyone sticks with it and I hope PA keeps up all the hard work, the last few years have made me really happy to be a long time player!
I always thought this game was VERY focused on PvP. Stopped playing around level 40, once i learned that you could be minding your own business grinding and another player or players could come in a blast you in the ass and take your spot. Is that still the case? Edit: Thanks, guys. I might give it a try then.
BDO will never truly see success until they completely overhaul the end-game gear system. Doesn't matter if new players catch up and their stuff still breaks when trying to upgrade it. It's a horrible system that is hard throttling the game.
To clarify if someone does not know , the "regular" servers in BDO are not like the ones you have on WoW where you can not do all the stuff with people from other server , where in BDO you can do anything with anyone from any server ( if it is the same region , that is EU , NA etc. ) . Servers in BDO are more like a shard in WoW . The only exceptions to this are season servers , but as how Kanon said around 3:50 , season servers are special since in them only season characters ( you can choose that option when creating a character ) can join those , and the benefit of those are as he said , useful permanent rewards . But as soon as the season ends it will be converted to normal character who can join only regular servers .
i remember quitting over a year ago due to the game becoming stale alongside market inflation. Glad to see one of my most played games rise up from the ashes for another round. Great video Kanon, it's time to install again.
I came back to the game just 2 days ago because of the dream horse, but man it's kind of crazy how many changes the game has undergone and I'm considering sticking around for a little bit. PEN Boss Gear without enhancing, just a lot of grind? Seasonal gear carrying over into boss gear which can go to softcap? Unified storage and fast travel from the Magnus quest (plus FREE PEN Boss armor?!)? Character linking/tagging so you can play 2 characters at the same time while progressing 1 gearset so you can spice it up with 2 classes instead of just 1? This is a lot of good stuff. Contrast this with other MMOs where it feels like the devs are fighting against their playerbase... I never thought that BDO would be the one to deserve praises for actually delivering on good promises. Granted, the game still has many downsides, but it's finally getting better.
"Contrast this with other MMOs where it feels like the devs are fighting against their playerbase" i felt that. coming from Lost Ark to BDO was like my dad came home with the milk
and yet the same boring ass core game remains untouched.. you grind mobs in a circle for years on end to get better gear to grind more mobs in a circle for years.. you have no hope in hell of pvping in this game unless you spend 5 years progressing or p2w hard.
@@bl1tzcraft arena of solare was mentioned in this video. its gear capped for people who want to pvp and dont have good gear and its been well received.
CM Corruption is such a bro. Actually all of them are cool as hell. One CM was in server chat telling dad jokes yesterday and it was amazing. Love the CMs and GMs in BDO.
I'm glad I saw the Video. I spent a few thousand hours on BDO but I have stopped playing about one and a half year ago, but I will definitely play it again now.
As someone who hasn't played in 4 years, I have been extremely happy with what PA has done. Monetization is INFINITELY better than it was and the stuff they give out is incredible.
That is pretty cool about the CM stopping my your stream and wagering then teleporting you around. That is great content and just good memories and times playing a game for you and people watching. For BDO I feel in someways it still has that early stigma of being not very casual friendly and PvP anywhere plus that P2W rep for a lot of casual people who dont really keep up on games. The truth is the game has changed so much and for the better in a lot of ways. The Season Servers are amazing and such a great way to introduce new/returning players to the game and get them started. No better time then now for people to check it out!
I came back to play bdo too. The game is more enjoyable now. The free gears and mount that I failed to get before from failed enhancing are given fo free now. I am happy with that.
I took a break from all MMOs for a few months, but Im back playing BDO. Im really enjoying it, had forgotten how fun it was to play! PA has done a great job keeping the game fresh so far. BDO and Warframe are the best MMOs !
Black Desert has something for everyone. It's systems and mechanics are vast and run VERY deep, up to the point that it can be a little intimidating for new players. For me personally, training horses and racing them is the most fun. Just like in any game, do what you want to do, and play how you want to play. If you want to be a sailor and focus on trading, you can. If you want to set up and manage a worker empire, you can. If you want to mostly pvp, you can. There are very few things you can't do, and that's what makes BDO a great game.
"De-chinalization" happened in lost ark Korean server. Would not talk about this movement so if you are interested, do your own research. Plenty of players from lost ark came to BDO recently, thanks to that movement. As long as Mr Kim does not bring that monkey class to BDO, BDO will be the winner. lol
Honestly all games should have a PVE end game content, like a REAL randomly appearing dungeon or world boss around the world with AT LEAST 10 variety each. The appearance trigger is time based and or depending on how much monster has been killed on some area. Some group type of monster will do a massive attack by monster outside of the most populated cities Some group type of monsters will attack mid to low populated ctiies, Some group type of monsters will do a guerilla attack to a random solo OR group of players. We are in the era where all of these could be done easiily with AI, I really hope someday Black Desert caliber like games would make this happen, Couldn't even imagine how fun of it.
Yeah I like the idea of random enemies that are tough. That’s what I like about Skyrim, anything can happen sometimes making it feel more like an adventure. Instead of only areas with mobs patrolling. Random bandits dressed for the region or a random cool big boss monster designed for the habitat your in surprising you shadow-of-war style.
I could only imagine losing at Yar and just being teleported randomly to locations for a whole day by a GM/CM who's just out for a good chuckle. I'd be splitting my sides as my friends try to save me only to watch me disappear again. But I'm just a teeny tiny player, that's never going to happen. Love it, I'm happy you had good fun with them, I might join your twitch to watch the chaos someday
Requirements for bdo: - you don't have a job, bc bdo is your job now - you have a pc running 24/7, bc efficiency - you have to have a good mental health, bc upgrading gear is madness All those requirements can be bypassed by real money.
As someone who had played for years, and then stopped for two and a half.. to find out my characters were all deleted really upset me. I have jumped back in and it seems fun..
BDO is the best MMO period. Only the hardcore stay around for it. to all the vet players that stayed and played this game through thick and thin. It was worth the journey for all of us.
@@bl1tzcraft I do not have dopamine hits when I achieve the best possible gear , neither is my ego to the level where I must have it . I enjoy the game for what it is and if I get decent gear along the way sure
Didn't notice more players than with season start like 2-3 months ago. Felt like we had more players on Woosa awk release but BDO did improve a lot, this is true. Unfortunately it still has the same issued it had 4 years ago when I quit.... there is simply no endgame content once you have your gear.
And there’s the problem. You’re geared for endgame while thousands of other players aren’t. Of course your going to get bored when you sitting at the top with the other players who either got their BIS from grinding 100years or the ones who bought their gear from the market place by selling pearl-shop items.
@@ThaGodLegacyHD Of course there is a problem, a huge one. Why would you grind for hundreds of hours if there is literally no purpose? In every MMORPG you get gear to achieve a specific goal, be it PvP or PvE. In BDO they killed it, years ago. I don't consider RBF and roaming on Arsha as actual meaningful end game content. Every other content is capped, like Sieges, NWs and AoS. Even tournaments are on trials. There is literally no reason to get the end game gear... and this new 300vs300 that's gonna be like once in two weeks is not really a good motivation.
@@almostanonymous8768 exactly this.. and not to mention they cap pve content which is the most braindead thing i've ever seen in a game.. literally no point to get better gear
@@almostanonymous8768 There are always goals to achieve, even as an endgame geared player: new Fallen God gear, new high-end accessories, new crystals, new QoL items. If you are bored, you can always forget fighting for a while and go into lifeskilling, or start ship content.
@@mizrolist _There are always goals to achieve, even as an endgame geared player: new Fallen God gear, new high-end accessories, new crystals, new QoL items_ Na, not really. As an end game player, you get new stuff, like fallen god armor, on day one, if it's possible. Like this time it was possible with the crystallized despair (after finishing the quest line). Besides that, it's not even in the same universe as actual fun. It's just another item that's must have and you'll get regardless. Same goes for accessories and crystals. QoL items (like map, compass etc) are still useless in the end... what you gonna use those for when there is no content in the end game? Why wasting more time for nothing? _If you are bored, you can always forget fighting for a while and go into lifeskilling, or start ship content._ And now ask your self... why would someone go and grind for hundreds of hours just to do something where all his gear is useless? Besides that, some people already do bartering or regular life skilling for profit. Be it due to not liking grinding, class balance or personal preference. It still doesn't change the fact there is no end game content where you can actually use the gear that you worked for.... for hundreds of hours.
Thanks for the video, I was curious why all the streamers i liked were suddenly playing. You inspired me to get the game, thanks for all your great content!
4:30 "The combat is excellent" Is it? I'm not a BDO player, but in every promotional video as well as in that section you showed for it all I can see is groups of monsters just standing around doing nothing while getting demolished by the player.
Honestly seeing the clips around of the GM's interacting with the community is what made me look up this video, and why im going to give it a go. It's honestly really nice to them popping up to interact with people and not just there to enforce the rules.
Amazing game, I've been kinda burnt out on it lately because I went way too hard a few months ago... but I'm trying to find my way back to try out the new boss content. Got a really bad reputation from the original publisher Kakao, but after Pearl Abyss has taken back over they've done nothing but add good content, fix QOL stuff, and remove predatory monetization stuff. With the recent Festa announcements it looks like the game is only going to get better in the future. Great time for a new player to jump in or a returning player to give it another shot
Bdo was always a popular its just been more popular due to the events they have running and due to the quality of life updates they know how to keep players happy and they like money. They gave out a T9 thats a good reason to come back. BDO has improved over the years. Id say bdo is at its best now over the last 1-2 years
Because it's the only MMOPRG with amazing combat. Nothing comes even close... The game is also unrecognizable compared to some years ago, the devs have really stepped up!
it warms my heart to see the love bdo deserves, thanks to you man its unreal how much the game changed and it does deserve the "most improved mmo" reward, it's obvious
Its very fast paced combat and very movement based, try guardian or drakania if u want a weightier slower playstyle Awakening drakania is very good in pvp atm and succession guardian is also pretty solid
Content creator here the game is thriving on console as well so if you have a console don’t feel the need to stray away. We are behind on updates but for anyone who has played lost ark think of it like Korea vs NA when it comes to releasing content it’s the exact same.
I haven’t been playing this game for super long, maybe like 3 or 4 years, and I made the switch from ps4 to pc about a yeah ago, but I will say at least from what I’ve seen this games been making constant improvements
So to me BDO always looked like the korean version of a Hacknslay, you basically grind the whole day, hope that RNG doesn't destroy your item when you try to upgrade. is that fair to say, or am I missing something? (I am aware that there are lots of systems in place, just trying to get to the core really)
Came back to the game 2 months ago the polish is insane it’s also nice to finally have a Pegasus I only had a uni and doom from the 2.5 years I played in the past
Oldschool Runescape has devs and mods that do this also they are very good at keeping up with the community and have nutured a die-hard fanbase because of it and if they make a mistake they instantly get the benefit of the doubt because they have always been there for the players and the game.
Because I miss old Lineage 2 and I read this had the feels.. it's holding true. Day 7, and I've got a t9 horse, full gear of season stuff that makes me destroy everything. I don't follow any event or info for PA or BDO. I had no idea about the goodies or outfits, etc. Years ago, I read this was open pvp, so I wrote it off, didn't want pk all the time. I wanted pve with my sons and husband, and was told this is mostly a solo game, which was wrong. We destroyed camps all over the map together and carried each other to level 58 before touching the main story!
Do you still have to autopath your character while wearing a backpack to increase your stats while you're afk from the game or did they take that out of the game?
I use to play BDO a lot and put 500 hrs+ into the game, I just got back to it again. But im still having trouble in figuring out how to start the dungeons
Came back recently and am really struggling with the graphics. They’re so bright/contrasty! No matter what I change it doesn’t seem to scale the glare from the sky back
this game is amazing, i'm a new player and all about the mechanics blows my mind. but the one thing i absolutely love about this game is life skilling. you would think it's gonna be boring but they somehow made it exciting. im so obsessed about horse breeding!
BDO has been the game I'd go back to whenever I had nothing to do in other games I played. There is always something you can do casually to make some progress which is nice. All the new content is certainly worth checking out too.
BDO always seems to give to their player base, they find ways to help the newcomers merge into the higher end of gameplay for the game. From giving ways to get boss gear. To holding events to help the progression of everything over all. There is no Pay to Win unless you're willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars. You're only paying for quality of life items, things that make what you're doing in the game a little less hectic. But in no way is there anything that you can buy to get an edge over players. It's definitely a great game.
I'm not sure if anything has changed, but when I originally tried to get the items to eventually make a galleon they were in some underwater chest and the breath meter literally wasn't big enough to swim all the way down to the shipwreck unless you either crafted some breath potions that were really hard to make, or bought the fish suit from the in-game store that cost $30. While the game may not be PTW, they definitely (at least used to) use scummy design choices to influence your decision to buy things off the store.
As someone who's played BDO since steam launch, the game has seen extremely big improvements across the board. The notion that it is pay-to-win is such an old stigma these days. Even if you wanted to P2W, you need to drop THOUSANDS, yes thousands, to get what an endgame player can achieve in 10+ hours of grinding. Ever since PA took back control of the game, and kicked aside Kakao, the game has just seriously gotten massively better over time. Free pets, free costumes, insane quality of life updates, insane new player progression systems, new classes and content are all beautiful and great. Game has come such a long way and I implore anyone that had the impression of "P2W korean mmo" to seriously give it a fair chance in 2023, as 90% of the problems of the past are gone. Yes the enhancement system is still rather hardcore, yes grinding is still the main loop, and yes PvP is still the true endgame - but these have all been made so much better, with so many additional options, it's hard to seriously complain about it these days. Even lifeskilling is now highly competitive with grinding money, so you never have to grind if you don't want to.
I tried playing BDO a few years ago, didn't get far because I just couldn't really get into it. I think a big reason was because when I saw my friends play they were just auto farming giant mushrooms all day, which didn't look fun at all. Maybe I'll give it another go cause I definitely need a new game rn
I quit 2 years ago and then came back last week and I am enjoying the fk out of it again. After seeing how bad LA is going I decided to go back to BDO and I'm glad I did. I am also very excited they are releasing a 300 v 300 and you DONT have to be in a guild or a big guild to join and have fun. It's going to be fun running around on my Drakania nuking or getting nuked lol, mindless big siege wars is fun!
I tried it, but returning after forgetting all my combos felt kinda bad, so I did a bunch of life skilling until I decided to jump into a completely 100% new adventure instead of reviving an already known one. So, nothing personal. BDO is a great game, specially for those who haven't experienced it, but I personally am always pursuing new games for new experiences.
I feel bad for you newbie. Wait till you get to the end game gear grind. You about to leave BDO or be hard stuck at whatever gear you can get your hands on.
Newbie friendly? Entering this game is like learning a foreign language for me. The whole navigation system is complex and overwhelming. I’m confused and taking a break to see if I understand it better afterward
@@Hello.God2 BDO has many systems in the game, and it can be very confusing for a starter player. My recommendation is to stick to the main quest for a while (until you finish Calpheon or even Mediah), that way you will be introduced to most of the mechanics and you can grab great rewards, especially as a seasonal character.
How is the pvp? Is there some way to play equalized pvp (I read smth about arena) ? Im interested in the pvp aspect mostly, but if I need to endlessly grind pve to become viable at pvp, its a huge turnoff
How do I get the horse, costumes, etc? I've played in the past on Steam. I loved the gamplay but didn't liked PVE interactions, so I played just a few days. Have no idea on how to restart. Do I need to create a new character in a specific server?
Start a seasonal character. But make sure to play it til the end or “graduate” it has requirements. So your character and items can carry over to regular servers.
I've played Striker for almost 5 years and your videos are my first guide when i'm get in to this game as Striker and still playing it, never change the class, thank you for your guide.
Ive owned the game on pc for a long time but never played more than an hour. Its so great im enjoying it!! Love all the free stuff especially that T9 horse and outfit boxes lol
Never played it, so I will download it and try it out, but I need to questions answered: 1. Back when this game was revealed I didnt even want to play ot because of the ridiculous over the top screen-shake I saw. I was getting motion sickness from the gameplay trailer alone. Is this still a thing? 2. Should I watch a beginner guide to get started or is the game straightforward enough I dont need ANY outside resources to learn the game? If I need to watch some videos who has the best current/most recent guides I can watch?
Start at a season server, and follow the main questline, you will be introduced to most of the systems that way. If you want a guide to help with anything, I would recommend Grumpy Green's season guide as a written one, or EvilDoUsHarm's video guide - but you don't really need it during your first ~50 levels. The motion sickness... it's subjective. Watch the trailers for the latest classes, Woosa and Maegu, that can help you to determine if the combat is acceptable.

@@skelletorjo3227 if you are in a good grind spot, yes, always the case lol lower level stuff should be a little safer tho
BDO will never truly see success until they completely overhaul the end-game gear system. Doesn't matter if new players catch up and their stuff still breaks when trying to upgrade it. It's a horrible system that is hard throttling the game.
The new free dreams horse don't hurt either hahaha
@@skelletorjo3227in my server region if you not in arsha( idk what it English name) it rarely happen I play for half a year now it never happen to me
To clarify if someone does not know , the "regular" servers in BDO are not like the ones you have on WoW where you can not do all the stuff with people from other server , where in BDO you can do anything with anyone from any server ( if it is the same region , that is EU , NA etc.

"Contrast this with other MMOs where it feels like the devs are fighting against their playerbase"
i felt that. coming from Lost Ark to BDO was like my dad came home with the milk
Crazy ain’t it? Woo

That is true, even my dead guild is coming alive again, we used to less than 10 people online and now, it's like ~25+ players online now.

Thank for the video kanon! :)
CM Corruption is such a bro. Actually all of them are cool as hell. One CM was in server chat telling dad jokes yesterday and it was amazing. Love the CMs and GMs in BDO.
BDO needs more coop content.
Hey man, great video, was looking for a short review of the new BDO content. thank you for the info!!
BDO and Warframe are the best MMOs !
damn sound really good, I guess I will return to bdo again :D
Black Desert has something for everyone. It's systems and mechanics are vast and run VERY deep, up to the point that it can be a little intimidating for new players. For me personally, training horses and racing them is the most fun. Just like in any game, do what you want to do, and play how you want to play. If you want to be a sailor and focus on trading, you can. If you want to set up and manage a worker empire, you can. If you want to mostly pvp, you can. There are very few things you can't do, and that's what makes BDO a great game.
despite all glory and hard work done by bdo, lifeskills are effectively dead.
why?@@mezmerya5130
@@georgecurry1 no consistent money in endgame. It's fun activity, or hobby inside the game.

Some group type of monster will do a massive attack by monster outside of the most populated cities
Some group type of monsters will attack mid to low populated ctiies,
Some group type of monsters will do a guerilla attack to a random solo OR group of players.
We are in the era where all of these could be done easiily with AI, I really hope someday Black Desert caliber like games would make this happen,
Couldn't even imagine how fun of it.
Love it, I'm happy you had good fun with them, I might join your twitch to watch the chaos someday
dude i literally just started playing and seen a green name, messaged them, Emora, boom CM. had no idea. very nice person.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen a non season server say “crowded”.
Requirements for bdo:
- you don't have a job, bc bdo is your job now
- you have a pc running 24/7, bc efficiency
- you have to have a good mental health, bc upgrading gear is madness
All those requirements can be bypassed by real money.
As someone who had played for years, and then stopped for two and a half.. to find out my characters were all deleted really upset me. I have jumped back in and it seems fun..

@@mizrolist
_There are always goals to achieve, even as an endgame geared player: new Fallen God gear, new high-end accessories, new crystals, new QoL items_
Na, not really.
_If you are bored, you can always forget fighting for a while and go into lifeskilling, or start ship content._
And now ask your self... why would someone go and grind for hundreds of hours just to do something where all his gear is useless?
What wallpaper is that on your monitor? Looks pretty cool.
Im a returning player after 2 years. The game has change a lot for the better.

What class are you using at 1:25? I’m planning to start playing the skills art on that character is sick
Dropping Narc's Tear at 97 pity after days in Manshaums is what sold me to this game
So to me BDO always looked like the korean version of a Hacknslay, you basically grind the whole day, hope that RNG doesn't destroy your item when you try to upgrade. is that fair to say, or am I missing something? (I am aware that there are lots of systems in place, just trying to get to the core really)
Funny thing i just came back to play ,& just so funny about the CM nice one Bro....

BDO is a top tier MMO tbh they have made so many changes
Do you still have to autopath your character while wearing a backpack to increase your stats while you're afk from the game or did they take that out of the game?
I use to play BDO a lot and put 500 hrs+ into the game, I just got back to it again. But im still having trouble in figuring out how to start the dungeons
Came back recently and am really struggling with the graphics. They’re so bright/contrasty! No matter what I change it doesn’t seem to scale the glare from the sky back

to any of the lost ark frogs yes the cms and gms actually play the game, i know it sounds crazy to you but its been like that since the dawn of time
Hey, How do you even get access to those outfits you posted?
surprising the game is pretty good.. i remember 2017-2018 during those Kakao days *shivers* , Pearl abyss definitely has clawed the game back.
I played maybe 20 hours of bdo around launch. If I returned with some low level character, would I be able to grab the new goodies?
I had stop at lv54 a while ago. So is it worth grinding again?
I quit 2 years ago and then came back last week and I am enjoying the fk out of it again. After seeing how bad LA is going I decided to go back to BDO and I'm glad I did. I am also very excited they are releasing a 300 v 300 and you DONT have to be in a guild or a big guild to join and have fun. It's going to be fun running around on my Drakania nuking or getting nuked lol, mindless big siege wars is fun!
bdo is fun
I tried it, but returning after forgetting all my combos felt kinda bad, so I did a bunch of life skilling until I decided to jump into a completely 100% new adventure instead of reviving an already known one.
So, nothing personal. BDO is a great game, specially for those who haven't experienced it, but I personally am always pursuing new games for new experiences.

Ive owned the game on pc for a long time but never played more than an hour. Its so great im enjoying it!! Love all the free stuff especially that T9 horse and outfit boxes lol
Never played it, so I will download it and try it out, but I need to questions answered:
Screen shake can be turned off in the settings
