    Daring to leave the monotonous, expected lifestyle of working eight hours a day, every five days, until retirement, isn't easy. It's a brazen move from both of you. Taking on this challenge, living exactly how you want to, breaking free of the normative routine, is something worth applauding. I find you both so incredible and hope I can someday too, be as intrepid.
    Looking forward to more of your stories,
    S

      Thank you so so much Sarah that seriously means a lot to us. Although we have always wanted lives that looked a bit different, it took us a while to get comfortable with the idea of leaving the norm. It’s a hard thing to break free of the expectations that society puts on you, but doing so is incredibly rewarding and freeing. Your kind words mean a ton to us and we hope we can inspire you the way we were inspired. Hope to see you out there🌿

    It's my dream to turn a mini bus into my home take my cats collect monster cans. And have my own cavetown themed home. I' live in a abusive home and when I'm 16 I'm planning to follow my dreams and move to Missouri to be with my best friend and help her sneak out of her house to hang out with me and her friends. In my mini house. And also pick up my sister to live with me. I'm so so happy yall followed your dreams! ❤️

    I’ve been having trouble designing my bathroom walls. How did y’all secure the stud to make them weight bearing? Also can I ask what size lumber y’all used for it and the subfloooor? Y’all’s content is lovely and v helpful! Thanks for sharing your adventures!

    • @growingslowandwild
      @growingslowandwild  3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Thank you so much that means a lot!!! We secured the studs to the ceiling where the metal ribs of the bus were, so we just screwed them right into the bus. It made them pretty secure, although we aren’t sure it’s too necessary because it’s not that structural so you could probably just go into your ceiling panel depending on how thick they are! And as far as the size of the wood we just used 2x4s for the framing of the walls and the subfloor. And as for the plywood I think we did 1/4 for the floor and the walls we put in! Hope this helps!!

    • @alexrader
      @alexrader 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Amor Aventura Follow-up lol: so you drilled vertical studs directly into the metal ribs? Did you use pocket joints or sinking screws?
      Again, thanks so much for your help. I have learned so much from y’all.

    • @growingslowandwild
      @growingslowandwild  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      We used some 2x2s that we ran perpendicular to the metal ribs, and that's what we screwed into the ribs. Then we screwed the vertical studs into that 2x2! It just made it much easier to run the vertical 2x4s into the 2x2 instead of trying to get the vertical pieces into the ribs. And as far as pocket joints or sinking screws, that's a great question 😅 I just drilled a hole into the ribs, then a pilot hole into the 2x2 where it lined up and just screwed it right in!! Sorry not so great with technical terms😭😂

    • @alexrader
      @alexrader 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amor Aventura lol this is very helpful. That makes total sense. Lol I’m not great with the technical terms either...Any jargon I used, I just recently learned to build out the bus lol Again, thanks so much for the help and the content. 🙏🏻

    Did you have to drill in to the fiberglass? I am looking into a shuttle over a regular mini bus because of the int. height but have heard the body material takes more precaution?

      We never drilled in the fiberglass only into the metal framing original to the bus! In case this is in reference to the walls here is another video we created of the process we followed: Shuttle Bus Conversion: NEW WALLS!

    Hi guys, I'm in the process of buying a shuttle bus. I have so many questions. I've never built anything in my life but I'm excited to. Did you guys do your own electrical and solar installment or did you outsource? Do you have videos on each individual project?

    • @growingslowandwild

      Hii Héctor! What an exciting journey for you! We never built anything in our lives before this too! Solar is the one project we did had a friend help us out with so we sadly don’t have a video about it! However, they are tons of good ones out there from fellow creators!

    I’m converting a shuttle bus. I have a Ford 2004 E450 with two alternators. I’m trying to figure out how to tie my battery bank to the alternators for charging. I have Valence LiFePh batteries which can be charged with a standard auto gel/gsm charger, so I don’t think I need a converter. The big question is WHERE to hook them to the alternators, in the engine compartment, or the electrical cabinet above the driver? Are the alternators separate systems, or are they tied together?

  • @chrispatriot

    I wanted to ask a question. I am just starting my journey, so I have LOTS of questions... When you put in the subflooring framing, I noted that you left about a 1.5 to 2" gap between the studs running vertically down the center, and the studs coming from the sides... Is this something intentional that you do because of flexing/vibrations? Or what is the purpose of not adjoining those studs to the center studs?
