Excellent product review, this is an impressive sd60m model and it is good to see that Athearn is making quality improvements to their locomotives in the upgraded Genesis 2.0 model series.

If you haven't done Walther's Mainline GP9, could you look into it. You definitely got 👍👍👍 and a new subscriber.
Nice review! Incidentally, I know of a couple BNSF H3 tri clops SD60Ms that are used as remote control yard switchers in Memphis, Tennessee. They have flashing beacons fitted to the cab roof to alert yard personnel that the locomotives are in RC mode. I'm interested to see if and how Athearn will add this feature should they offer these particular units.
Yea I would be very interested in those as well. I am really hope does the H3 Triclops, that was probably my number one on the Wishlist when I heard the announcement, but I guess we'll have to wait.
Hi - I am having great difficulty removing the shell. I have removed the couplers and the two screws under the trucks. The front of the shell appears to be loose, but the rear still seems to be anchored. Is there a trick I am missing? And how did you remove the chain. Mine seems very firmly attached to the shell. Many thanks - JOHN GEDDES
I didn't have any issues with the trucks, but still might get the replacement trucks just in case. Looking other people's experiences on the message boards and Facebook, it seemed like 50% of the people had some sort of issue.
I was actually kind of shocked when I opened it and the model did not have any issues with the trucks especially after I had seen a BUNCH of posts about it on fb. I must have gotten lucky I suppose, and seeing the Athearn FB post about the issue makes me more surprised.

@@SideTrackX also do you turn the volume down on it? The sound quality sounds like crap when people have them new.oit of the box

I did not have any missing parts or any damage parts either. Model arrived great from the factory.

What is the top speed?
At 128 Speed steps, the top speed was about 75 scale miles per hour. Thanks for Watching!
Looks like they may have out detailed the old proto 2000 model ,but I will bet the p2k will outpull it easily .
