Just keep being you and ignore the ones that is jealous of your life 💯 Sand is bad on brakes also I have been told
I love your adventures, but your travels in the U.P. of Michigan are over the top for me. Being a Michigander most of my life, you've shown me more about my home state than I've ever seen before. In less than 2 months, I'll be moving to Florida (again) and already feel homesick. ( can't tolerate the brutal winters here). I really appreciate seeing my home state with fresh eyes. Thank you,, thank you, thank you Carolyn.
Thank you so much Carolyn, I am from Michigan(now in Florida)..........I am enjoying this soooooooooooooo much........Be safe in your travels.....I am a huge fan!!!
Michigan, my beautiful Michigan. I think I wrote to you about the UP. You have to be born here to understand it. It’s tough living, but geologically beautiful.
I was born in Hancock in 1950. My dad worked for the Houghton County Road Commission. We lived in Dollar Bay my first year. I returned in 1969 and went to MTU until graduation in 1973. I started working for the Michigan DNR in 1975. Much of the UP is owned by the forest industry and enrolled in the Commercial Forest Act. In exchange for significant tax savings, the lands are open to hunting and recreation. There is also significant acreage of Federal National Forest and State lands open to the public. The UP is a fantastic and beautiful place. The Calumet area was once the richest area in Michigan and was considered as a location for the State Capitol. Enjoy your adventures.
Good evening from Godley Texas, following you is truly like traveling through history. Your narration of the sites is spot on and informative. Thanks for allowing us to travel with you. Stay safe.😎
Alot of us in Michigan own properties up north and in the UP that we go through the summer for long weekends, hunting season etc.. Beautiful camp spot by the lake!
Thanks Carolyn. Another very interesting video. We were snorkelling in ‘Superior’ October 5th. It was 9 degrees ‘C’. Sadie was smart to think it was cold. We cheated, we wore wet suits. Lol. My shepherd however, will swim for hours. He swims beside me, my wonderful companion.😀
Nice video. Glad you’re still traveling. Most of TH-camrs I started watching 4 years ago when we started RVing have settled down to varying extents or have gone to Giant rigs I can’t relate. Ramble on..
I would recommend for you too have a portable 12 volt air compressor I bought this brand VIAIR 40045 , works great it come with air hose and fitting to inflate your tires. Which would help you in these circumstances, just my two cents . I have been watching your videos for about 4 years now , and I love all those out of the way spots you have discovered, over the years . You have inspired me to go see America , and travel more than I ever have . Just want to thank you for taking me along Carolyn , take care , Sadie sure has found her special mom.
They all got there own personality’s. My chocolate lab would break ice to duck hunt, my Doberman has nothing to do with water. I’ve been blessed to experience them all.
I sure appreciate you showing the many many places of beauty where you travel. Also sharing the histories of various places is such a contribution to the good will in the world.🦌💌🍁🚙🙏
What a beautiful and calming video (except the tire part). Those butterflies on your screen were lovely. I didn't see that many of them this year, made my heart glad that others did. I really look forward to your videos!
Thank you Carolyn for sharing Gay, Michigan with us. Your beautiful boondocking spot was gorgeous! I am glad I am not the only one who froze when I mistakingly tried to go swimming in Lake Superior. I figured in August the lake would be warm like Lake Michigan and Lake Erie. I WAS SO WRONG...lol. Stay safe on your travels!
I agree with you….the entire UP is something special. I grew up in Wisconsin in a camping family so we spent a lot of time on vacations up there. Also, my brother moved up to Calumet to work for several years. Thanks for the memories.
That was an awesome video up till the tire, it looked like you and Saddie was having the time of your lives, thanks for sharing and as always stay safe, safe travels, and God bless love ya Nancy
Just wow. It’s so beautiful. I find everything about these videos relaxing. I like hearing your rig squeak, love watching Sadie, enjoy your commentary, great video.
What a Glorious/Beautiful spot as ALWAYS Carolyn!!! &Sadie is such a GOOD girl!!! LOVE you both!!! I'm so sorry your going threw this AGAIN... I have saved A LOT of your RV places you went so when we start RVing we'll have BEAUTIFUL spots to enjoy!!!! LOVES/HUGS to you both!!!
Graduated from MTU in Houghton in 1982.The Gay Bar was a friendly place. Camped on the stamp sands a few times. The sand will suck you down, if you break through the crust.
Free bath Mum! And that's always good!🐕. Remembering the early days when Sadie did not want to go near the water and now, she is totally in her element? Getting so strong with the swimming! 🤗 🏞
Love, love, love you & your videos! And Sadie girl!! Thank you for telling us about all the places you visit. It's like having a good friend give us a very interesting history lesson plus getting to see it with you. You are so awesome, so special. I look forward to your videos. Thanks for all the travel & nomad tips. Gosh, you are a gem!!
LOVED the UP and swimming in Lake Superior last year!!! CLEAN FRESH water and lots of trees, the only thing missing was mountains. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Been to the Gay Bar a few times. My uncle has a place just up the road at Hermit’s Cove. That side of the peninsula is not as popular as the west side. My family has a cabin on the other side.
Lake Superior is the coldest of all the Lakes in Michigan and the deepest,,,.. That what i love about Michigan is there is a lots of sandy beach,, including the inland Lakes
The key to driving on sand is to deflate your tires. That means you need an air compressor to air back up, so better you not try. That is absolutely spectacular.
Hi Carolyn! I imagine that location is the coldest in the winter especially with the wind. Looks relaxing to play with Sadie on your own private beach. Enjoy! 😎
Well, you obviously lived through it but in the future, and for others, I would avoid camping in mine tailings because of pollution. Copper frequently is accompanied by arsenic or other dangerous substances so Sadie could ingest toxic materials and walking barefoot on toxic sands could bring the elements into your living space. The hint was that there were few people in the area and little brush growth even though 90 or so years had passed since the end of active mining. I’m glad you’re OK but I would be a little careful of post industrial sites. Parking there certainly would never hurt but Sadie could be at risk trotting barefooted through the pollution and those large puddles could have dissolved arsenic in them.
good grief so sorry about tires ... My home state is one of the most beautiful in the country...lots of people will just put up a tent and leave it all summer and into the fall ... and yes people in Michigan are very good at putting up no trespassing signs ...and I also recommend not trespassing when you see them unless its an emergency ... there be stories
Wonderful video Carolyn! I grew up seven hours away in the lower peninsula and always wanted to road trip up to Gay but never got the chance. Thank you for sharing your journeys!
Thanks for all of your posts especially when you show different areas to Boondock. Since you were traveling with a van you can definitely get a lot more places than some of the larger RVs. It be great sometimes on the videos if we could hear your thoughts if you thinks any of these places look like they would be able to handle bigger rigs thanks
I have a Friend that lives in Deluth Minnesota and I check on the Temperature there occasionally and it has been staying near the Freezing Point there for the last few days.
I didn't make it up to the U P this summer but next summer I plan to especially after seeing how beautiful it is up there from your videos.Peace and happy trails. .
I guess I should clarify that when I talk about Lake Superior I am talking about the Canadian side haha. The north shore of Lake Superior, between Pancake Bay and Wawa, is extremely rugged and beautiful. I have never been to the American side, Carolyn, so really enjoyed your video of that area.😀
I love all of Michigan. Everytime I explore her I discover something new and fabulous. Your adventure was very entertaining. Our Great Lakes are truly inland oceans. The undertow in them can be deadly. And it wouldn't take long for hyperthermia to set in,right? Your smart Sadie knew. She IS a dream❤️ You Carolyn are so smart too😉😊look where you camped. Bad ass🤩👍👍😊🥰✌️
Omg so much sweet Sadie in this one!! 😍🥰 Such a good girl!! Edit: Holyyyyyy shiiiiiiiii...I thought this was ANOTHER tire issue and not the start of the one you real timed from before! Glad you clarified. I was thinking all the swear words! Ha!
Carolyn, a crazy thing happened today regarding you. I got a notice in my email that resembled a newsletter from you inviting me to check out your newest video. I not only chose to watch, but resubscribed and instantly liked it. I've never been in the U.P. though I lived in the lower part of Michigan for 7 years. I'm now in Jacksonville, FL and you'd be welcome to come down here when the weather turns cold up there; which is probably next week, right? LOL. It's good to see you again.
You are beyond inspiring living your genuine life! I hope to hit the road in 6 months! Selling the ranch, boarding the horses, dogs, truck and trailer will pull out of the driveway! Hope to see ya down the road 😊
During the early and mid-summer months, the road you are on is completely strewn with low bush WILD BLUEBERRIES in the open field areas right along the roadway.
I was in Sumter Nat Forest where I thought they said was cool, and no signs. At 2 am the owner knocked on my prius with a machine gun. He let me stay until morning
I've wondered why you stopped making vids then today I looked for your channel only to find that I was no longer subscribed. I don't know how that happened but I'll have to keep an eye on my subs from now on. At least I have vids to catch up on today. I missed all of the MI vids and that's my state! Be safe out there Carolyn & Miss Sadie.
The big lake they call ‘Gitche Gummee’.Don’t be fooled she is not a lake she’s an ocean in disguise. Lol. Hense all the shipwrecks. I have seen her go from calm to trenchers in a heart beat. You never see pleasure boats and any canoes hug the shore. I have spent at least 5 weeks a year up therefor the last 20 years. Had to laugh because I blast Gordies ‘Edmond Fitzgerald’ all the way up there. I met him in Toronto back in the day
Hey Carolyn I've got to say you found a beautiful place. You can make a video just alone of the water noises to sleep by.You are so right about Sadie she is so smart. I'm jealous. I had a female dog her name i was Hollywood she was the smartest dog I've ever owned but now I have her son and he I guess you would say has a learning disabilityt he's just so slow at learning. And it might be me too because female dogs I'v never had to train they just I guess you would say learn naturally.. Bogie s scared of another dog. It's funny because he's never really been around dogs he's been around cats so he's comfortable hanging around cats cuz that's all he's ever known.. I've never taken him to the beach but he's just not a water dog but I'm going to try my best when I get on the road to take him maybe the same place you're showing us. I'd love to stay there. I also have to give you kudos for the videos you make because so if you ever get tired of rv llie you could always make videos to sleep by or dog training videos cuz it looks to me like you fat plenty of experience in both. Oh and by the way bogey is a golden lab 😃. Sorry my comment is so long but I feel like I'm talking to an old friend sometimes anyway going back to video
To see the whole fiasco of me trying to change the tire, check out this video: th-cam.com/video/fPUfbnI2j6U/w-d-xo.html

Such a nice few minutes watching you at this gorgeous spot. And I so love watching Sadie. What a great dog she had turned out to be. 💜

It must have really sucked to have that tire situation after such a beautiful campsite!

The State of Michigan ordered land owners that lake front property is open to everyone for at least 15 feet or more in some places.
Stay safe. Love your videos
