- Aren't road trips all about the fun food and snacks? We took a 14-hour road trip to Destin Florida over spring break and had a whole bunch of yummy, mostly healthy, and some not-so-healthy snacks! Even if it seems like extra work, it definitely pays off to make sure you're prepared with a lot of healthy snack options before you hit the road, because it helps everyone to stay energized and in a good mood all the way to your destination! We did an 11 hour drive every year pre pandemic. One of the things we did was freeze a jug of drinking water. It stays frozen for 2 days in the cooler and we can drink it when it melts.
Nice tip of the big frozen jug of water. I froze some individual water bottles and that definitely helped. Where did you go for your trip pre-pandemic? Planning on going anywhere soon?
@@ChefJulieYoon we'd drive from WI to Ontario. No plans for a trip this year as the borders are closed and they are in lock down again.

Thank you for sharing your road trip ideas. It was awesome to see what you had packed while driving on the road. I love that you brought your hot water container with you and cooked your cup noodles and made your own coffee. I would love to see your Costco food haul has well. I have to try the boiled eggs at Costco. 🥚🥚 and pickles.
Lincoln was so adorable being such a great helper passing you the things from the cooler. 🥰
I almost went even more nuts and packed more appliances haha! I restrained myself with just the water kettle but it came in so handy! Yes, try the boiled eggs and pickles from Costco! Yes...all the fresh fruits and veggies saved us all week! It balances out the junk food, like the ramen or burgers and made us feel more healthy and light on the road. Yes, Joe was a trooper for driving the entire time. Glad you want to see a Costco haul...I will film the next time we're there!

Loved the variety of foods you had. Typically, we would just stop by a Walgreens and get chips, candy and sunflower seeds. Next time I'll have to take a trip to our asian supermarket and venture out a little bit. I loved how you brought everything but the kitchen sink...lol. So prepared and I bet saved a lot of money too. Eating out is always the most we spend on when going on trips. Thanks so much for all the great ideas. I'll be rewatching this if ever we go on a road trip. Also, loved your commentary throughout the video and your commentary corner, great lighting.
All those snacks sound super yummy and fun! Yeah the Asian supermarket made me try out some weird snacks...it's a treasure trove...and what better time to try something new than on a road trip? I agree with you that eating out is where all the money goes...especially if you're in a touristy spot like we were. So having some food on hand really helped. Plus with Covid, I wasn't sure if hotels would have breakfasts and all that...it was definitely paired down or just "grab and go style."

Such weird things to pack but both came in so handy! We ate almost all the seaweed salad but brought a lot of the pickles back home...it was a huge container haha! Glad you're interested in a Costco haul...will definitely do it the next time I'm there! And yes, planning and preparing is kind of annoying but super worth it before traveling. Next time, I just won't go so nuts with the over-packing haha!

I always eat a bunch of junk on the road, so this is helpful even for grown ups! Those already prepped boiled eggs are great, too.

Awesome ideas. I’m prepping for a 24 hour road trip with my three littles and we have been thinking we will pack a lot of the meals for the journey so I appreciated these tips.
Glad you found this video helpful. Love packing our own stuff bc then you have the option to eat healthier or at least familiar favorites. Saves time and money too!
Because my daughter needs to be Gluten Free, our go to meal for traveling, was grilled chicken salad at McDonalds. But due to Covid, they do not offer salads at this time. While looking for "take away" foods at Walmart, my daughter found the hard boiled eggs, pre cooked chicken strips (grilled) and premade salads. Our Walmart's precooked food selection also sells single use condiments/dressings. Yes they are more expensive than multi serving ones, but we do not have to try to refrigerate an open bottle. She will pick up the eggs, just for a snack. We do not have a costco, I wish we did. Another thing that my daughter loves to grab and go is mini peppers with cream cheese and mini cukes with ranch dressing.
That all sounds so wonderful, flavorful and fresh! L loves those mini cucumbers too.

Haha...I actually wanted to go even more nuts and prepare even fancier/ better things but ran out of time. It was fun to be prepared and it kept us from feeling too sluggish and blah when traveling. I'm glad you enjoyed more of Lincoln...he's such a character. You will love that pork jerky!
