the bad thing is that alot of people don't appreciate the work photographers do and when they see those expensive prices, 90% of the customers will just go away and think it's overpriced and think that it's super easy to do all of that :/
I've been preaching gear depreciation for years. It's such an important thing to factor in, yet photography is the one field where no one seems to talk about it for some reason. It's great seeing someone finally touch on it for once!
In my country we all literally cancel every photographer that try to shoot the lowest prices.. because that could kill others photographer rate😢
Usually rental houses charge 1-2% of the total value of what you rented for a day (the percentage depends how new things are), I would suggest people start from there. SO if you have 10k$ of equipment thats 100$-200$ per shot just for equipment.
Rentals are different than equipment, clients for photo shoots shouldn’t touch your gear, whereas tenants, put use into property, which can cause damage and whatnot over the years so…
@@ethancooke1589 the idea is to use rental prices to understand better your price. For bigger shoots I do charge each piece of the equipment to my clients as if we rented it for the project. Usual procedure for years.
@@TomislavMoze $1000 for 5 photos is ridiculous, does it come with the newest MacBook, iPhone, and Apple Watch? If so, I’ll book a photo shoot with you.
@@ethancooke1589 i got paid a lot more for one photo. The idea is just to understand how to count in your equipment int your price to better know your worth. And in some cases I charge even the tether cable. It just depends on the production size.

Thank you Anthony! Great info!
When line itemising in your quote, create an equipment hire fee and charge your equipment out as a photographic hire shop front would do.
You're halfway there you also have to think about taxes and licensing fees

I charge $600 per hour with a 2hr minimum. That's just for the photo Session. No downloads or albums.
What type of photography do you do?
@@relaxwithme__ I do portraits. However, my clients already know I'm pricey.
