I can't think of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Joe Strummer, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty & Tom Waits without wishing they all had a chance to write an album together.
Just the other day, I was sitting outside of a taco shop in austin texas minding my business as usual, had a copy of Joe's biography "redemption song" in my hands, and suddenly this song began playing softly out of the speakers from the taco shop, at first I couldn't believe my own ears I had seriously thought I was going completely mad, it was such a satisfying moment haha love you Joe
When a true human spirit walks amongst you, take the blessing humbly and be blessed. Joe Strummer. Your voice sings truths in my head, silently, constantly. I grin ear to ear when I see your energy.
December 22nd, 2002 I just pulled into a parking spot at local mall. The local alternative radio station was playing Safe European Home, one of my favorite Clash songs. I had to stay in the car to listen to the end of it, of course. The song ended and the DJ came on to announce that Joe Strummer had just died. I couldn't stop crying and could not go into the mall. I just turned around and went home. I've never gotten over Joe Strummer's death.
Lord, there goes Johnny Appleseed He might pass by in the hour of need There's a lot of souls Ain't drinking from the well locked in a factory Hey, look there goes Hey, look there goes If you're after getting the honey, hey Then you don't go killing all the bees Lord, there goes Martin Luther King Notice how the door closes when the chimes of freedom ring I hear what you're saying, I hear what he's saying Is what was true now no longer so Hey, I hear what you're saying Hey, I hear what he's saying If you're after getting the honey, hey Then you don't go killing all the bees What the people are saying And we know every road, go, go What the people are saying There ain't no berries on the trees Let the summertime sun (Fall on the apple) Fall on the apple Lord, there goes a Buick forty-nine Black sheep of the angels riding, riding down the line We think there is a soul, we don't know That soul is hard to find Hey, down along the road Hey, down along the road If you're after getting the honey, hey Then you don't go killing all the bees Hey, it's what the people are saying It's what the people are saying Hey, there ain't no berries on the trees Hey, that's what the people are saying, no berries on the trees You're checking out the honey, baby You had to go killin' all the bees
I'm listening to this on Elgin Ave. Some of the old crowd are still here. There's a pub in Paddington, Thursdays nights, everyone comes out of the woodwork.
Saw Noe and the Mescalero’s twice (‘99 and ‘01) in Boston. Amazing show at the Roxy. Joe was so energized. Was 6 when The Clash dissolved but so thankful I was able to see Joe. Joe and The Clash are in my mind every day.
I'm still saddened that this man is gone.
ME TOO
God bless you Joe, Celebrating my 62th birthday today listening in to your wonderful world of love.

The more time that passes, the more I wish Strummer were still with us

Do you remember what taco shop?
And to think of all the music not played, stories not told, inspirations left unfulfilled because of Joe's early departure.
the mescaraleros and this stage in Joes life really clicked with me like no other. I saw him in Toronto just before he passed. God Bless you JOE RIP

I've been processing honey from my bees. So happy to hear this song.
It's sad to see that such a brilliant song has so few views and likes.
I used to feel the same way but over the years I've learned that everything isn't for everyone.
There are some genuine voices in the world, Joe's was one. You miss them when they go.

Love you always Joe! This world needs you now!
