My biggest takeaway from the Intergalactic trailer is that we're probably going to get a ND game that's seeped in a very specific aesthetic, and I'm all for the whole retro-future look of the thing. And it's probably just me reading too much into it, but the fact that this trailer included "from the studio that brought you..." and it included their ENTIRE catalogue of games, even the silly 3D platformers, makes me think that maybe this game won't be so self-serious. I feel like since The Last of Us came out, Naughty Dog is looked at being a studio of capital A "Auteurs" instead of a studio that just likes to make fun games. That Neil is more concerned about making a game that says something and is supposed to make you FEEL VERY DEEPLY more than just having a good time. I love The Last of Us very much and I can still kind of agree with that sentiment. I have no doubt this game will probably get very dramatic and make you feel things, but I kind of wonder if it will be part fun sci-fi adventure romp, too. Part Star Wars, part Cowboy Bebop, part... hell, I don't know. The Last Starfighter?

I agree with her that Cirilla as MP in TW4 wasn't that much of surprise. Especially if one read the books. I mean the whole saga literally follows her life from before her birth, childhood, teenage years and finally young adulthood in TW3 from Geralts perspective. And its not like Geralts "retirement" wasn't known before either. So It had to be this or something like an "unnamed" character that you create. So I think It was a valid choice. And I personally think they nailed her design for a little bit older more experienced Cirilla.

There were more people from the studio and we could only see this short glimpse during the announcement, not the following seconds or minutes... The trailer for Intergalactic is indeed not good enough. Although it, like The Witcher 4, has fallen into a strange cultural war, the positive review ratio for The Witcher 4 is clearly higher. I think players are just tired of a movie-like CG that doesn't have many highlights. I look forward to seeing more gameplay footage.

At this point I feel like we're just hurting ourselves even talking about silk-song. For my mental health I've decided that that game doesn't exist. I'm going to live my life, replay hollow-knight every once in a while and maybe one day I'll be pleasantly surprised but I'm actively choosing to doubt it.
I heard that Split Fiction was really really fun and awesome. The guys at Kinda Funny got to play it early and said that the trailer didn’t even begin to do it justice. So hopefully they aren’t just hyping up a guy they like’s game.

Looking at the reviews I see lots of positive chinese reviews - and they share the same sentiment. Astro bot is great, but it does feel like another odyssey or it takes two. I definitely think Wukong has had more impact on the market this year. Yeah there def is a disconnect, but I think mostly it's that gamers are more swayed by internet discourse and marketing and Wukong became the spearhead of a weird culture war against western games (and gaming discourse and journalism is more regional while Wukong got most of its love internationally). Journalists tend to be upstream of the discourse so they're less swayed by it. They also generally care about video games as a whole medium and are less likely to dismiss something because it seems childish or less hard-core, where that sentiment exists a lot stronger amongst the general gaming audience. The "journalist" take I hear on Wukong is that it's good and got amazing production value but falls short in combat vs it's other souls-like/action contemporaries and lacks strongly in level design.
