  • I love walking around Iquitos on Sunday mornings before the city wakes up. It's quiet and colorful (not to mention safe). You can see things without the crowds and the traffic.

As almost all my videos recently, this was filmed on the DJI Pocket 3 which has become my favorite travel camera of all time because of its size, convenience, ease of use, and amazing video quality that rivals the best cameras I have.

Iquitos seems like a very beautiful and diverse area. Thanks for showing all the old architecture, and even the darker side of Iquitos. It's good to know where to go and not to go ahead of time.

Love this. Are there many expats in this area? Is Perú very friendly to expats? Do you need to be fluent in Spanish?

I'm so sorry it took me so long to respond.
There is an expat community, but it's smaller than some other Peruvian cities. The ones I know are generally a little older, too, but that's a generalization and certainly not all. The "ayahuasca healing" community also exists, but there are many stories of serious issues like crime, sexual assault, and worse relating to this community which has exploded in Iquitos over the past 10-15 years.
Peruvians tend to be friendly to everyone, but they are far more friendly to those who respect their country and the people rather than using it as a place to do their own thing -- like working illegally, hanging out only with expats and not trying to be part of the local culture, etc. Spanish is pretty easy to learn and people are very patient as you learn.

I've got a room booked in Cusco for the entire month of June, 2025. I'd love to meet up at some point if you're interested.
