    Lots of vids on making a melting furnace. It helps with storage and makes it economically worth it. Keep the dream alive.

    Lots of people enjoy this. Melting and creating ingots or art. Yes expensive but if you enjoy it, then it's priceless to you. I remember watching a video about melting, i think it was aluminium cans. They worked out they had 40% dross waste. I assume that means the cleaner the ally the less dross. Good series of melting different metals. Question is.....what is next? Thanks both really enjoyed.

    Nice one shaun..... don't lose the passion! The only problem with aluminium, is that you have to skim off the slag before pouring. Try getting lead out of bullet projectiles. Its a win win, as you get to recycle the copper too

      Enjoy watching the mini episodes. If you will do bullet picking, please use a bigger sieve, a bucket and a shovel and do not pick bullets by hands. Wear dust protection due to lead dust contermination. Best place to find is a shooting range ;-)

    Just discovered your channel. I like seeing this kind of video. I like know what just an open flame, no furnace, can do. I got two furnaces that I do various project with. Just never played with it.

    I plan to set up a small forge to run on wood and a bit of air flow. Not wanting to have to spend money on the fuel to melt it. I have a friend that passed away a few years ago. He would have loved this so much. Hate he is not around to play around with all of this with me.

    Enjoyed the video. I too have started to melt metal in my foundry. Which is great for making ingots, bars and even smaller “muffins” from a muffin pan. But i have issues poring the right amount of aluminum in my coin molds. So i got a small crucible bowl with the small poring tongs and I’ll give that a whirl. It I can control exactly how much metal I use and have better control with my pours this way - then I should be pumping out these coins often.
    Thanks again for the inspiration!

    A few firebricks could go a long way with this setup…. They really help raise the temp and also add a layer of safety!!

    It's not really the metal fumes you should worry about, it's more the plastic liner and the paint that gets added to pop cans. Nasty stuff. Nice project, and yeah, if it's fun its worth it. Also Al is not a metal found in nature so setting a block aside and/or saving it from the land fill might be a good thing.

    • @Batman-lg2zj
      @Batman-lg2zj ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually aluminum is nature

    • @leadbadger9543
      @leadbadger9543 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Batman-lg2zj don't 'well, actually ' until you do your homework, chin strap. Here is what you get with a quick Google
      Aluminum was born out of science.
      Aluminum isn't naturally found in the Earth's crust. It comes from bauxite, which has to be processed to get aluminum. What this means is that it required the efforts of chemists and engineers to bring it to life.
      The cap of the Washington monument is aluminum because it was the most precious metal of the time. You have a lot to learn before you go around looking for people to correct on the Internet. I expect a 4 page report on my desk by Monday on the history of and process of refining pure aluminum.

    Is that a expensive blow torch? Mine is s s £20 one..

  • @hajii124
    @hajii124 ปีที่แล้ว

    Let the tip of the flame hit the metal, pull your torch back some. The tip of the flame is the hottest part. Because its mixed with oxygen. The blue parts seem hotter but only because its pure gas, the tip of the flame is yellow or orange. Yes, but thats just due to the oxygen intake of it.
    Super helpful video though. Please keep it up! :)

  • @ruebenmikoch
