also there is a book called "The Book of Secrets" by Chris Roberson, which links costumed crime fighters to pulp stories about cowboys, highwaymen, pirates, robin hood, and then mythology and religion. That's also why I liked 2018's Robin Hood, as it gave a nod back to the Dark Knight Trilogy, and was basically showing how Robin Hood was a version of a costumed avenger, and an inspiration for Batman with the Robin of Locksey millionaire playboy soldier, and the vigilante The Hood, which also inspired pulp characters like The Shadow and The Phantom. That superheroes are a new version of mythology. You could link The Justice League of America to the Gods of Olympus. Batman is Ares (war on crime), Superman is Hercules, The Flash is Mercury/Hermes, Aquaman is Poseidon/Neptune, Wonder Woman is Artemis/Diana. They're a modern day version of mythology, and M Night is linking superheroes to characters of mythology having genetic superabilities, or mental superabilities or spiritual superabilities. I liked the idea that Split used the idea of mental illness as a version of superhuman mental abilities.
My first spiderman comic book was the "black issue"......aka the 9/11 comic book where doctor doom sheds a single tear for the american people while Captain america has flashbacks to ww2.

My interpretation of the newspaper clippings from other places was Mr. Glass monitoring natural disasters outside of his terrorist acts. So he was keeping an eye on other tragedies for the "sole survivor, miraculously unharmed." I doubt he went to Mexico to cause a mudslide...
Lol. Yeah. I thought it was a little strange that Elijah hoped to find a superhero in the same city. And I've been a fan of this film since I saw it in the theater.
10:42 He mentioned the Gillette commercial. I'm surprised by some people's reaction to the ad. Some people have seen this ad and misread the message on toxic masculinity thinking it is attacking masculinity or saying men can't do certain things. I thought the ad did a pretty good job being clear on what it meant. It is not saying men can't lift weights, be tough, be men, etc. It's basically saying don't be toxic, don't harass or bully people, and don't be a jerk.
Im jus sayin keep that same energy & make one for “toxic” femininity, showin females lyin in court for child custody, doin retarded makeup tutorials, lying about assault allegations, complaining about somethin from 3 years ago, etc etc.
Unbreakable would still be ahead of it's time if it came out tomorrow. Did you miss the point that Mr Glass was looking for someone who was the opposite of him? or did you just not mention it? That is why he was causing the disasters in the first place. Also the way the movie was revealed to you was the way it was revealed to everyone, back then no one went in thinking is was a superhero movie that wasn't even a thing yet.
Pre-release:the first trailer, the website(areyouunbreakable.com) and even M. Night himself really caught people off guard. We were made to believe that the plot was inspired by how in reality, some people miraculously survive great disasters. Mid-release:we're presented with a compelling story in which real people are blessed or cursed to become living examples of comic book characters. This movie had the element of surprise. I miss those days when we learned about movies we wanted to see and we're giving the most unexpected presentation.
The marketing was because of the studio, they did not want to advertise it as a 'real superhero', because superheroes/comics were not mainstream like it is now. If studios marketed Unbreakable today, it would have given away the twist ending too!
oddly enough there is a type of osteogenesis imperfecta, which Elijah Price has where he makes too little of a protein in his bones, there's another version where it creates too much of that protein, and thus the bones become very thick, dense, and dare I say difficult to break, and that would make him easily sink in water, could it be that David Dunn also has the osteogenesis imperfecta but the too much protein version?
Sammy said to like the video before they even get started. Why would I like the video before I've seen it to know if I actually like it or not? And he's telling me to like three times? Sammy, you're okay, but that's asking a bit too much from me. Such speed and will to like something before I've seen it is usually reserved for Korey and Martin. I'll like this after I've seen the video, thank you very much.
Maybe the use of Upside down shots were to show the world being turned on its head? With superheroes now existing in that universe things just get bizarre 🤷🏽♂️
When I first watched that opening scene and the next thing I got confused and thought that Bruce Willis and Mr Glass where the same person. Man I'm stupid.
Has anyone else noticed that the movie never reveals whether ELIJAH has ever been in a relationship? GLASS doesn't address it either (that's not a spoiler, right?). It gives the 2 movies a sadder layer.
am I the only one that noticed the train tracks after the doctor in the ER tells Bruce Willis character that he did not get a scratch that the notes from the train tracks sound like the theme to The Terminator?
@@oscarfc1993 He's long-winded but with no point, so it's a chore to listen to his points, he chooses to go for loud and energetic but instead comes off as loud and obnoxious, constantly goes out of his way to apologize for a point in a joke that he, and only he, has made and, considering the segment, actually doesn't offer any real insight to the films he supposedly hasn't seen except for the typical "that can't fly today" bullshit.
I hold to the common theory that he has that George Lucas problem. He got got too much praise too early and nobody wanted to put limits on him anymore. They are marvel fanboys. They aren’t changing their review.
I always cry at the end of this film. Mr. Glass is easily one of the most sympathetic and tragic villains of all time.
sifat shams i thought it was only me ahaha
No way. The guys a mass murderer, He belongs in a nut house.
Crying like a bitch right now cause I literally just watched it 💯🙌💖
Regarding the camera work, a lot of scenes are shot to be framed much like how panels in comic books are.
This will always be my favorite Bruce Willis character
David Dunn didn't track down the janitor. He followed him from the train station to the house he'd invaded.

Mr. Glass is trying to find his purpose in life. The existence of superheroes justifies his suffering in his mind.

and its also about the unbreakable faith Elijah has in comic books to explain his behaviour and find meaning in not only his life but David's life.

There were people that heard that and didn't know it was a bar about a movie lol
