Angelina said that one night she couldn't sleep and borrowed her mum's Ipad. She found a beautiful lady (Billy Holiday) singing Gloomy Sunday, and the rest is history.

Amazing reaction my friend. You know, back in the days, when this was aired, I reacted JUST like you. And I KNEW that from that day onwards, I would NEVER leave her side, musically speaking. And honest to God; I haven't. And I won't. This still very much young girl is on a league on her own, completely. You may try, but you will never find the words that adequately describe her. Hopefully though, those words WILL come at a later stage. Until then, all we can do is sit back, listen, watch and admire this 1 in 10 billion artist.

At three going on four Angelina already knew. By five she was fully into her journey. At six she stated she wanted to sing for the world. At thirteen she accomplished her goal. To no avail her Mother had tried to slow her down. Obsessed Angelina is on a mission and we are witnessing history being made on a continuous basis. From eighteen months of age we have historical documentation that will be the basis of books, movies, documentaries, university courses across the world. There has never been anyone like her, and there will never be another.
You should hear her at 6 years old. Check her out singing “I, who have nothing.” She’s in a recording studio booth. All I can say is WOW !!!

Angelina’’s voice is still developing at this point and I’d the voice of a child but only when you her to herself later in life. Her pronunciation may be still developing in English as well. But otherwise her tone, color, style, timing are just astonishing. More to the point with this voice in this recording she conveys the emotions of this song to her audience.

Her second one " I'm a fool to want you " (acapella) is mind blowing but then she followed it up with " Bang Bang" and the last one " Summertime". And so it goes on and on with her other performances after that. Every time you will be speechless.
You can see that before she sings she's not stressed. She loves to perform. She said when sings she's never nervous. I love the way she commands the orchestra to play. She's a genius, and a vocal chameleon. She's like some lovely instrument which can play any song.

I would play her music for dad in a nursing home. He was 93 years old and very much into music his whole life. He sang and played guitar. He was crazy over Angelina and he would laugh in amazement when he listened. He said she's special. She's going to be a star! Please when she releases her first album bring it to me. He died a couple years ago but he was absolutely correct ! She's special and already a star!❤

What I did notice is that her short tooth actuall caught up to the other one by the time she won NGT which shows the competition must have been over several months. I'm 73 and had never heard this song by Billie Holiday, Angelina introduced it to me, when I went to look for the Billie Holiday version was when I first realized what Angelina had accomplished at the ripe old age of 7. By this time I was already intriqued with Angelina but this left me flummoxed. Since then Angelina has become my favorite singer for many reasons. Thanks for the wonderful reaction. For her singing is as natural as breathing, she needs no preparation or reflection before singing and it comes to her so easy it seems unreal. She was so young, at her first public appearances, yet she was already an incredible professionalism and ability to convey emotions and was replicated all over the world, by newspapers and television channels. This may be my favorite reaction to this performance. That you know music and esp. that you know this song gives much more credence to your observations. I could easily tell this affected you the way it did, and still does, me. Angelina is "special". I hope you watch the next performance, which is just as mind bending when she sings Billie Holiday's "I'M A FOOL TO WANT YOU"....... a capella! There are a couple of mash ups to the performance putting her a capella performance to the music track and it's uncanny how she was able to maintain the correct tempo through most of the song and stay on key. A few years later, at 11 years old, she performed "I'm A Fool" in a studio booth with headphones for her album "It's Magic" released in 2018 at age 12 and you would think it's Billie herself. We've all been down the same road as you and we've probably seen this video hundreds and hundreds of times. And, you know what? I can only speak for myself but I know there are thousands of people who reacted the same way I did watching you look and listen to Angelina. I smiled the whole time because I was so happy for you. And, I admit, during the song (both times) I teared up (tears of joy) knowing you were feeling her love enter your heart and secondly, if I hear this song another 500 times I will probably tear up every time!!!!!

If Angelina Jordan is Billie Holiday's incarnation then this time she is surrounded by angels instead of demons. All we can say for sure is that we have never seen or heard any child so young, so skillful and soulful. We are truly blessed to have Angelina born into such a loving, caring family that was willing to travel the world to share her talents. Remarkable she is not better known to date and that is likely a good thing.

Over the roughly 6 months of this competition, she gets better with each performance until my favorite one in the finals where she sings Summertime, after she had turned 8. It's very jazzy with a lot of rasp, vocal fry & her beautiful vibrato. Two years later, she recorded a totally different version with a full orchestra that is smooth a silk. She can sing any song, any way you want it!!!
Angelina’s voice and her total being is like an ocean wave or soft summer breeze that takes you in and rushes you to places you have rarely experienced. Your heart rate increases, you find it difficult to catch your breath, chills and shells engulf you. You are now addicted to Angelina Jordan.

Everything! It's everything. You just want to cry, it's so powerful and the crazy thing is not that English is her third language while singing French Quarter Jazz like she invented it. Nor is it the fact she's only 7 with 40 years of stage presents and on and on. No it's the fact that there are many performances that put on a level no one is on and somehow she's not recognized as one of the greatest? But she's not slowing down and soon the whole world will be hanging on every word she sings. Every word!

You mentioned her mother's reaction ... there's more: at 6:54 in your reaction to Angelina's Bohemian Rhapsody, her mother leans over and wipes a tear from the cheek of her younger daughter. At that incredible moment she was attending to the daughter not on stage. That's quality parenting.

That was a terrific show. Thank you. You could go back to when she was 6 and singing in her school's recording studio. It will blow you away. I don't think anyone thinks that Angelina was taught how to sing like this. In fact, in one interview they ask her about her music school, and she said that she taught herself to sing. Some Eastern religions would say that she had honed this skill over multiple lifetimes. But they would also say that a person would have to be highly evolved to be able to use that talent at will. In an interview when she was 12, she basically describes that when she sings or goes on stage that she essentially goes into an altered state of mind. She says she is never nervous because of this.

Angelina's Grandmother had a library of records from the Old Jazz Singers. Her Grandmother was a big influence and Angelina listened to all the music. One of her favorites was Billie Holliday.

Since you react to this song the way I did, my recommendation is just listen to her next NGT song (another Billie Holiday), I’m a Fool to Want You, which she does a cappella. It is even more stunning-her delivery of the lyrics, the impossible vocal control, and the emotion.
Two quick thoughts on today’s Angelina: it’s clear she just had innate musicality from so young, but how does a seven year old develop a perfect vibrato? Also, we see her actually go into her low register-and we know how that ended up.
