I could give you a 3-hour PowerPoint presentation about why I love this so much, but I'll keep it short and say it's fun, energetic, there is a profound, relatable message, the genre switch works perfectly with the lyrics, it's surprising and unusual while being super catchy. It's a bit silly in a good way but absolutely not a joke entry. Käärijä is super charismatic and seems like such a sweetheart. All of this just sparks joy!

@@evipevi1973 that he is not afraid of the world anymore but in stead, can be relaxed and himself. Yes, it happens after a long week and night out - at the same time it is a question, why do we need pina coladas for that? Just feel free and be yourself! And if you know what kind of lovely and funny person he actually is, it makes much more sense. But yes, if you take the lyrics literally, the vibe is somewhat different 😂
I just hate this song, Käärijä is uncharismatic and poor singer.
I'm Finnish, and I've heard this song a million times by now, and it's such a banger. It's nothing like I normally want from music, yet it's everything. I love the message of (even if it needs some liquid courage) being yourself, and hitting the dance floor. You can dance, even if you don't know the "correct" steps. 💚

Same. I didn't expect anything from Finnish performance but this blew my mind. I normally don't like to listen to the Finnish songs because it's just not for me but this song changed my mind.
I would compare it to "Dragostea din tei". Artists that goes their own way to create something new that isn't really in any genre that should be good, but in some way succeeds to create different parts of a song that just hits the right way.

Think Finalnd will smash the televote but won't get enough from the jury vote. Sweden will get a lot of jury 12's. Would love Finland to win though.

So the singing lyrics is about being shy / introverted and after a week of stressful work, comes the weekend. It is time to break the walls. The dancefloor is calling. After more than a few pina coladas, the barriers come loose and (now the music goes from rock to melodic) the man is himself no more and he can be another man, at least for a while. Be the life of the party.
Literally the story of my, and oh so many finns, life. Came to love the song after the finals really.
This song is giving me everything I need. Dark, industrial metal, Rammstein-style & fun dancey pop. I love it. I LOVE IT! 💚

This, for me, is by a country mile the standout song from this year. Its so energetic, surprising, fun and dynamic and not derivative or generic in the slightest and he is an incredibly charismatic performer 😉👍🇫🇮
From a Finn living in Australia permanently was lovely to hear that you liked it. Aussievison members also liked Käärijä. I hope he can win in Liverpool though I know Loreen is tough to beat.

Interesting video! Käärijä said in one interview, that the structure of the song was a bit different when they first started doing it. But then they decided to put the hardest parts f the song in the beginning, and the softer parts in the end. That was a wise decision, in my opinion.
That's interesting! Mostly because it is the oldest trick in the book of in all kinds of emo, post-hardcore and metalcore stuff (by which this song definitely has obviously been influenced by) to have the most melodic and "poppiest" section of the song right at the end.
I mean the all-time-classic Stick Stickly by Attack Attack! did it, what is it, over 15 years ago, among many, many others. And that's because the contrast usually works much better that way.
It was made for repeat 😉
Kääriä is out of this world. Not my cup of tea, at all.

The second time I saw the official video (original video) I had it as my winner. It's adult enough with that fusion of electro rock with garage highlights. It's a big fight between this and Sweden.

@@hermaeusmora4874They tried getting rid of them before, it almost killed the contest. There’s a very real risk of a lot of very rich countries pulling out without the juries and taking their funding with them.
The more you listen tothis the more awesome it gets. When i first heard it i was like "yea thats cool and catchy". But now Im fully immersed because i know how the song goes
Never thought of that color contrast detail. It makes sense since the lyrics are about him "not being this man" who dances and is out of his shell, unlike the dancers in red.
Yeah and the way they pull him with those ribbons it's like they're trying to drag him onto the dancefloor! 😊

What I totally love about this (apart from everything :) ) is that it is not in English, and I personally believe that's a HUGE added value compared to English songs. If we dont understand the words would that mean the song would be just as good without them? Definitely not, so the lyrics are a huge part too! It proves the point that you can feel energy, music, message through the song, even when you dont understand the words yet you know that the song is good!
The song is geniously done and the lyrics too. Eurovision is about music, songs, you want a song that stand's out, this surely is that, crowd friendly and easy to get into in any way from the first second it starts.

This is really interesting to go back to after everything. I watched an interview with Käärijä and the "non-english songs have something catchy for people of all languages" thing is spot on. He said that Cha Cha was mentioned and they wrote around it because its something all audiences can understand and sing

I live just outside of Liverpool and am lucky enohgh to have tickets to the semi-final on the 9th. I'm counting down the minutes to see this masterpiece. It's the final song for us, a great energetic one to leave on before heading to party on into the city. I will 100% be chanting "CHA CHA CHA" instead of "SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS" for the evening :D
About social anxiety and being out drinking, not wanting to let go to dance or anything, but at the end giving in and just having fun and going for it.

I have heard that Loreen and Käärijä are the favourites. Both are clearly hit songs, but Käärijä wins on originality. At least in the ESC context. I feel it could have been something the South Koreans could have come up with. However, I'm far from an expert in this context.
The thing it reminds me most of is Electric Callboy. And the riff in the beginning is extremely similar to Rammstein (Tattoo) so sounds German to me more than anything.
This really isn't that original it's just a much less popular genre than Tattoo. You bringing up the South Koreans is funny as fuck since there are so many Swedes writing for Kpop groups.
@@MrsuperdestroyerI'm not an expert on anything but songwriting. But maybe I confused South Korea with old Japanese video games? I am humbled that I could be wrong, I was once before. Swedish pop is extremely depleted at this point, they should shut down and concentrate on making ball bearings instead.

@@dennislindqvist8443 You seem to miss the point, you bring up Kpop as a good example but in reality it is made by Swedes. Swedish song writers are all over the world in all genres. Saying "I'm tired of Swedish pop" is the same as saying you are tired of pop in general since they are the same thing.
I really like your analysis. Very informative yet compact in a way where you don't go on a 5 minute long tangent in the middle of listening to the song.

I'm a music teacher too. I love this song, is a mix between Industrial and Trance Metal but some global catchy elements. Amazing.

The first time I heard this one I absolutely hated it. After hearing it a couple more times it started to grow on me and now it's one of my favorites. I think the energy and oure fun this entry brings is what sold it to me.
It is the ultimate party song in chant and lyrics, for finns and ultimately all people wanting to party in Europe 🤩
To the rest of the world most of the lyrics are a mystery, but hey, we all can sing along with CHA CHA CHA. 😊

When i was skiing in Finland this Winter (Levi) this song was a huge banger during after ski. And especially the international skiers celebrated this song like hell. ;)

It reminds me a lot of Ruoska's "Lihaa Vasten Lihaa" in its feel (also Finnish). It seems to be one of the big favourites to win. It is fun and it does get stuck in my head, but it's not one that fully does it for me. I hope he does well because it is something different for Eurovision and the best thing about this year is just how varied the acts are!
The song start opposite direction from a common song. It starts with a powerful groovy part and then the easy melody comes. This makes it different from others it makes genius because it do it with great way

I have Finland for the win this year this song is too good not to it’s so different and the beat his style of how he sings draws you in. Love it!! I think Loreen will be second the song is good and she really is a performer for sure but it has a lot of Euphoria vibes for me and I still love Euphoria it was so epic and unique for its time back in 2012. Cliff Richard's "Congratulations" finished 2nd in the Eurovision but it's a classic today. You don't know who Cliff Richard is and can't name 5 influential musicians who competed in the ESC. But you *do* know what is "by far the best song".
To me you sound like a person saying:"McDonald's has by far the best burgers. Everybody knows it so everybody eats there."
Some music is like junk food. It may be popular but it's not good for you. And your average Eurovision televoter just wants a musical "Happy Meal".
