What Country are you from? I thought it was known by all NOT to hit precision things with steel hammers, punches, etc. Use plastic, brass or lead to avoid damage! I'm positive you made many surface imperfections

@@Fenyutas If you don't care about having dents and marks all over your stuff - in other words, if your standards are overall low -, then it really doesn't. Otherwise, use a copper/lead/plastic hammer or at least wrap some cloth around your hammer. This is basically metalworking and machine maintenance 101.

Grease is not a good idea in a chuck as the grease will trap chips, and grit, that will cause excess wear, and/or bind up the jaws.

No, never. All scroll chucks need grease. Just go to manufacturer’s web sites and manuals.
