This is great, very interesting. In a previous work life I met many Asian (mostly Chinese and Korean) students here in Ireland and it was striking how little connection there was between their formal qualifications in English and their actual ability to communicate. I know a few who are 'fluent' according to their IELTS or CELTA but really struggle in many situations, even after many years living here - they can't break out of their textbook 'box' to speak normally. But I've also met many who from day 1 are very comfortable in normal communication despite often just basic formal learning. I've become convinced that Stephen Krashen is correct that formal learning languages can often be counterproductive. The important thing is to relax and find material you enjoy. Talk if you are an extrovert - if you struggle with social aspects, then just read a lot of fun books and watch lots of fun tv shows or whatever. My best Chinese friend made a huge breakthrough when she started reading the mystery novels she loved in English, I could immediately hear how she improved.

You are a very beautiful Chinese lady, Zoe and your videos on language learning are super helpful ❤❤❤. I speak some English, and I didn't even know that "mute English" existed. I started watching movies I most love in English to level up my overall skills in the language. I can understand most English speakers whatever their accent in order to improve my listening skills so that I can speak better, more accurately and fearlessly. English has a very simple grammar compared to several languages, but many people, anywhere in the world, are still struggling to speak and master it. It should be really easy, as it was meant to be, but it actually takes a lot of time and practice. This applies to any language you want to learn. I do practice my English speaking skills very often, but I would not become proficient in the language if I stopped working on it. It's important to note that getting messy in one's learning style is advisable to look for fluency when it comes to language learning.

안녕하세요 Zoe. 반가워요. (Hello, Zoe. I'm glad to see you.) 저는 한국에 사는 김광현이라고 해요. 언어학을 공부해보려고 하는데 매우 유용한 정보네요, 고마워요. (My name is Kim Kwanghyun and I live in Korea. (3. The reason why I study Fusion Myeongriology (Famousology + IT) is that if I know the date and time of birth, and the sleeping posture of each person, I can find out in detail my natural abilities such as personality, appearance, wealth, honor, and power, and when they are expressed. For example, there is a person who is born with a fate similar to that of a "prince," and if you look at his or her study fate, he or she becomes smart from the age of 27 to the age of 47.) 이런 부분들을 활용하면 내가 어느 시점에 어떤 공부를 하면 좋은지, 또는 어느 시점에 사업을 하면 좋은지, 성격은 언제부터 좋아지는지 등 그 외에 사항들을 아주 세밀하고 정확하게 알 수 있어서 삶에 도움이 될 수 있어요. (If you use these parts, you can know at what point you should study, when you should do business, and when your personality starts to improve, so it can be helpful in your life.) 저는 저를 비롯해서 유명인들과 주변인들의 운명을 알아보면서 정확한 데이터를 산출해내는 법을 지속적으로 연구해왔어요. (I have continuously studied how to produce accurate data by looking into the fate of celebrities and people around me.) I am from Hungary, remember when I was taught german in the school at least for 8 year but I sucked at it because the whole teaching and way to comprehend it was unintuitive. The english is a bit better for me because I am a gamer and I started to learn through playing games so my english is much better than my german what I barely can use. The fear of speaking is a valid thing because it connects to confidence and if you like me who lacks of confidence usually find it hard to acquire new people, friends, learn new traits and use it confidently. My grammar also not the best but hopefully someone can understand it but I only care about to be understandable in my native language. The written english is better because by copying others and later add some meaning above it you can get through on some level but I personally not feel I will be on a level as native people but you can always learn something new. My approach to this or personal agenda to the matter would be: check what is interests you, try to aquire as much information to the subject in your mother tongue then try to translate those into a language your choice. If you have some knowledge on things or you find an interesting place, cultural slur, common identicals or even some food you like and you want to know the place where it's made then you have better starting points. Usually people will not start and speak naturally on a foreign language and not about deep talks hence people speak minor things or chit chat. With this way if you have time and patience and not lazy like me, then you can learn a language faster. The important thing is you need a little interest in on what the other people are interested in and trying to think with their head. If I were a Chinese person I would think about Jangce, (sorry if I write it wrong in my native language we write this way), the great walls, the culture bending with locals (I am aware in China there are a lot of kind of people and ethnicities), funny writing system, work your way to success and maybe the ricefields or even some coastal cities and their infrastructures. These things could give you some hint and idea where to start after you aquired a baseline knowledge. And no, I am not going to learn Chinese because for me it is difficult but I see as an interesting language and the importance of the grand scheme. Side note - I like your smile.
Hi Zoe! How are you? Well, I want to share my journay too🙋♀. This is my 3th month studying English for the first time (I'm 28 years old by the way) and I'm follow step by step your English video ("Learn English as an adult. A1-C1"). I didn't have English in my school 🏫It's was a little of French, but they always teach the same: le présent. But, I've always watched movies in English so, I understand almost everything, maybe I don't understand some slang. And, in only three months I see a lot of improvement.👍By example, I can write this text and I don't feel shy to send to someone a text for being a language buddy partner. For me at least it's a big change, because I was starting from nothing. I write/correct a lot of people when they send things in Bussu. This week I did my first audios in English. I've started to notice something weird😆, but I think it's helping me and my mental health. "Yes, I finish my chapter of my book!" or "Or, this text doesn't have so many mistakes" can give your a lot of motivation. I'm so happy about it❤

Focus in pronunciation to learn how it is pronounce, this is 100% learn by memory. 2) Now, you have some basic vocabulary and you already know the pronunciation of a lot of words, but you need to learn "the real pronunciation". @@Suheda.languages These are my tips, hope this helps you: You can try with videos/series with a lower level, try to find A1/A2 level. Or Disney movies/Kids movies that you already know. Also, try to do every day for a short periods of time, if you start to stress because you do not understand it can be worse. Baby steps and constancy is the key to learn.
Found a language partner: someone who is learning Turkish and they can help you while they learn your native language. What I do: I learn a sound of IPA, I search for words with that sound and I send it to my language partner and he tells me if I'm doing right. To learn IPA: my favourite chanel is "Michael Roberts - British Accent Method"

In brief: The video titled "Understanding English But Can't Speak? Here's Why and How to Fix It" by the channel "Zoe.languages" delves into the challenges faced by many non-native English speakers who can understand English but struggle to speak it fluently. Here's a summarized breakdown: 1. **Introduction and Personal Experience**: - Zoe shares her personal journey of learning English in China, emphasizing the heavy focus on exams and rote memorization. - Despite scoring well in exams, she struggled with real-life conversations when she first traveled abroad. - Over time, she learned multiple languages and reflected on why she couldn't speak English fluently despite her academic achievements. 2. **Educational System and Teaching Methods**: - The traditional method of learning English in China involves heavy reliance on textbooks, grammar exercises, and test-taking strategies. - This approach may help with exams but doesn't necessarily improve real-life communication skills. - There's a lack of balance between input (learning) and output (practicing speaking). 3. **Tips to Improve English Speaking Skills**: - **Educational System**: Relying solely on textbooks can be limiting. It's essential to balance learning with real-life practice. - **Practice Speaking**: Speaking English is like exercising; it requires consistent practice. Zoe recommends using platforms like Cambly to connect with native English speakers. - **Overcome the Fear**: Making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process. Embrace them and learn from them. - **Use Textbooks Actively**: Instead of rote memorization, use textbooks to understand concepts and create original sentences. - **Engage with Enjoyable Content**: Zoe found success in listening to audiobooks and podcasts in English, which she enjoyed. - **Online Classes**: Taking online courses in English can simulate the experience of studying in an English-speaking environment. - **Talk to Yourself**: This might sound odd, but practicing speaking to oneself can help in forming sentences and improving fluency. - **Avoid Direct Translation**: Try to think directly in English rather than translating from your native language. - **Use the Internet**: Even if you're not in an English-speaking country, the internet offers numerous resources to practice English, from video games to online courses. 4. **Conclusion**: - Learning a language is a journey, and it's essential to be patient and persistent. - With consistent effort and the right resources, one can transition from merely understanding English to speaking it fluently. Zoe encourages viewers to keep trying, emphasizing that everyone starts somewhere, and with time and practice, they can achieve fluency.

Hi zoe, great work again! You mentioned some good points and i would like to share my experience: I am from india, and can speak 4 languages, mainly punjabi being my mother tongue, hindi, english and korean. I started learning english from scl, and it has been 10 years since i am learning. I can understand everything, read a book comfortably and write without any hesitation, but when speaking, i just go blank. Hindi and punjabi are my native languages so no problem with them , first i thought it was bcoz that here are not english speakers that's why i wasn't able to use and speak english, but i realized i was wrong. From past 3 years, i have been learning korean by myself and can speak decently and i realized it wasn't about native speakers, it was that in india english is like considered a standard. Like the one who knows english is more smarter than the one who doesn't. So we are just not immersing ourselves and just reciting textbooks. So people does have fear of speaking wrong. I learned korean by myself and it wasn't a standard for me and i was not afraid to make mistakes and that helped me a lot! BTW, LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND STARTEGIES AND TIPS❤❤ THNX! FOR SUCH A RICH CONTENT
I'm an intermediate English learner. I can't believe the caption. timing = 10:00 I've never lived in an English-speaking country. You looks like perfect native English speaker for me. For learners, if the teacher is too perfect the learners would come to be crushed by the height of the wall. I would like you to show your weak point in some times.
Learning a new language is really difficult to me and I don't know why, it took more than half of my life to comprehend my mother language which is mandarin, and I started to learn basic English when I was 15 in a classroom with 10-year-old children. Fortunately, I do understand the rules of English grammar and a lot of new words, my English might not excellent but at least I can understand those words surrounding me and never stop attempting to learn new English words. Honestly, I admire those ppl who can speak and understand few languages like you without rote memorizing. I do have inspiration from you to keep doing the same simple thing to progress myself, hope to see your more quality videos in the future!
Thanks You I need more practice, and you are right we need practice with too patience and love otherway never will able to speak and improve ours English skills have a Good day madam 🇨🇴🙏🏾Regards from Colombia.

Follow the textbook is the best way of learning English. Books teach us many words and situations in the shortest amount of time. Learn slowly step by step, don't rush. Wherever you learn, practice. Şöyle ki : Şu an 28 yaşındayım. Ama 28 yıl önce ben yoktum. Peki dünyaya gelmeyi ben mi istedim? Yada annem -babam istedi diyelim.

This is great, very interesting. (3. The reason why I study Fusion Myeongriology (Famousology + IT) is that if I know the date and time of birth, and the sleeping posture of each person, I can find out in detail my natural abilities such as personality, appearance, wealth, honor, and power, and when they are expressed.

Thanks for your hard work on this video. It was beneficial for me.
I have always practiced my spoken English by myself. I never try to speak English to another person. I think I speak English to another person. I always fear grammar. I make a lot of mistakes.
You motivated me in this language journey.
You are saying about a cat with a sentence to create the best method for grammar and vocabulary to boost up to us.

I am from Hungary, remember when I was taught german in the school at least for 8 year but I sucked at it because the whole teaching and way to comprehend it was unintuitive.
너무나 이쁘고 박학다식하고 다양한 언어를 자유롭게 구사하셔서 어메이징 합니다. 하늘이 내린 재능을 가지고 계신 것 같아요. 👍👍👍
I'm so happy about it❤
I am so happy for you 🥰keep going
Merhaba ben sıfırdan ingilizce öğrenmek istiyorum temelin hiç yok nerden başlayacağımı bilmiyorum yardımcı olabilir misin? Ve telaffuz sıkıntı yaşıyorum soyle bir kelime gördüğümde nasil okuyacagimi bilmiyorum
@@Suheda.languages Your first language is Turkish? I put on Google Traslate to check what you said. Zoe has a video: "How to learn English as an adult? 0 to fluency (Resources, Methods and Study Plans)"
1) Pronunciation: I recommend you to see a lot of TV or TH-cam with SUBTITLES in English.
Focus in pronunciation to learn how it is pronounce, this is 100% learn by memory.
2) Now, you have some basic vocabulary and you already know the pronunciation of a lot of words, but you need to learn "the real pronunciation".
Learn IPA (The International Phonetic Alphabet) English has diferents sounds that you native laguage.

These are my tips, hope this helps you:
You can try with videos/series with a lower level, try to find A1/A2 level.
What a Role model of "Practice makes perfect! Keep making videos give you lots of opportunities to practice English. Well done!
I from someone province where is in middle area of east bigger country. I’m becoming to be a fans of you now. study English is differently for me,actually I really have been admiring your ability of English with other.anthem to you to a hard face give up.
In brief:
The video titled "Understanding English But Can't Speak? Here's Why and How to Fix It" by the channel "Zoe.languages" delves into the challenges faced by many non-native English speakers who can understand English but struggle to speak it fluently. Here's a summarized breakdown:
1. **Introduction and Personal Experience**:
- Zoe shares her personal journey of learning English in China, emphasizing the heavy focus on exams and rote memorization.
- Despite scoring well in exams, she struggled with real-life conversations when she first traveled abroad.
- Over time, she learned multiple languages and reflected on why she couldn't speak English fluently despite her academic achievements.
2. **Educational System and Teaching Methods**:
- The traditional method of learning English in China involves heavy reliance on textbooks, grammar exercises, and test-taking strategies.
- This approach may help with exams but doesn't necessarily improve real-life communication skills.
- There's a lack of balance between input (learning) and output (practicing speaking).
3. **Tips to Improve English Speaking Skills**:
- **Educational System**: Relying solely on textbooks can be limiting.
4. **Conclusion**:
- Learning a language is a journey, and it's essential to be patient and persistent.
- With consistent effort and the right resources, one can transition from merely understanding English to speaking it fluently.
Zoe encourages viewers to keep trying, emphasizing that everyone starts somewhere, and with time and practice, they can achieve fluency.

Ilham means inspiration?! Sounds like the name of a congresswoman in the USA
@@TulekBeharYes, the English equivalent of the word ilham is inspirations. And I think the person at the congress you mentioned is Ilhan Omar and the word inspiration(ilham) has nothing to do with it (I wrote from the translation because my English is not good, don't look at the flaw if I have a mistake)
I am so happy I bumped into your channel. Great video clip. As an English teacher ( from Israel) and an Arabic learner I will definitely try to implement your tips and show your clip to my students. They have an oral exam in English next year, the final test before graduating high school and I am terrified how they are going to pass it. But your video really helped. Thanks a lot 🙏😊
בהצלחה לך ולכל התלמידים 😊

thanks a bunch, you are so weet, and your way to teach, is very helpful and of course useful
You are so elegant. Learning English with you is pure pleasure.
Thank you so much for your useful methods
تو ایران هم مثل چین انقدر به گرامر و حفظ کردن لغات توجه میشه که اون بخش صحبت کردن معمولاً درست و حسابی بهش پرداخته نمیشه. زبان جدید در وحله ی اول باید در صحبت کردن و ارتباط برقرار کردن به ما کمک کنه. ممنون زویی. مثل همیشه ویدیو هات مفید و جذاب هستن.
As always your videos are incredible! Thank you for sharing. So true that you have to balance between input and output

thank you,Zoe, i find it not so hard to learn english well through your video!! i may try to use more english in my daily life, oral or writing.just keep on trying!!!❤❤❤❤
I have a similar problem, though not as bad as other anglophones, with Chinese, partly due to dialects, also because Chinese has sounds we really don't have or distinguish in English. I throw all the movies and videos I can at me, though maybe you have advice or could do a video on that topic.
太美丽。
Hi zoe, great work again! You mentioned some good points and i would like to share my experience:
I am from india, and can speak 4 languages, mainly punjabi being my mother tongue, hindi, english and korean.
Thank you 💖
Thank you for your advice !
I'm really hoping that I would become a good at English, Like you !
Thanks Zoe, I love your videos and I would like to be a fluent in English. You are awesome.
I'm an intermediate English learner.
I can't believe the caption.

I've never lived in an English-speaking country.
Great advice! This approach works well for learning any language, not just English.
Thank you from Morocco exactly from the capital of Ismailia, the ancient city of Meknes

Thank you for your Channel!
I just adore you. You are cool and your videos always inspire me!
Amazing, Zoe讲的很快,但里面没有太多的生僻的单词,我居然全部听懂了!!!😀
好棒!
Follow the textbook is the best way of learning English. Books teach us many words and situations in the shortest amount of time. Learn slowly step by step, don't rush. Wherever you learn, practice. I learned English at the age of 33 and no one could catch up with me. My English book is Streamline English compiled by the British.
you are extraordinary. Thanks for your great experience. I appreciate you.
谢谢博主,其实刚刚考完雅思口语,说得一塌糊涂,很难过,但不知道怎么突破自己的缺点,同时也在难过为什么我以前没有一个英语口语环境。看完你的视频后又有了自信,与其难过为什么没有那个环境,不如行动起来,利用互联网学习语言

Thanks, amazing video! The topic is very important. I want to add that it is the attitude to what you do (also in other areas) that plays a decisive role. There must be an enjoyment of what you are doing - this is the main secret of children!

Şöyle ki : Şu an 28 yaşındayım. Ama 28 yıl önce ben yoktum. Peki dünyaya gelmeyi ben mi istedim? Yada annem -babam istedi diyelim.

One of the most beautiful videos is to get the results of people's experiences so that it facilitates the path of learning
If it is possible to ask you, is there any free services in the camply application
And one more question please
A while ago, I was able to get an American friend and arrange a weekly lesson date, so my idea was that each lesson should have a specific title, for example, shopping or sports, so that I could take advantage of the sentences and what is said in this place and the lesson would be organized and I would have attended it, what do you think about that؟

May you do me a favor please if you have a free time
