Right. I have dark spots and that’s okay. My dad also has them. My mom plans to take me to a dermatologist, but If what they recommend does not remove them, then oh well
Bratz dolls, no, more like drag queens with them long unnatural looking eyelashes. It’s in the eye of the person, because to me, most (but not all😂) woman look better with no makeup. If you ask me if a person with a pile of makeup on looks beautiful, I’m going to tell you I don’t know, or yeah their makeup is beautiful, because it’s not you, it’s putting on a mask, even if you feel good in it it’s still a mask that’s hides what you really look like. Think about why you wear the makeup and be honest with yourself. There’s not many reasons that you can come up with that doesn’t down play your natural look, other than I just want to look different sometimes. I have never been into makeup, so on days where I feel really pretty (yes I have days that I don’t feel pretty) it feels great because it’s not because of a pretty mask, it’s all me, it’s pointless to me to feel super pretty in a mask. Natural makeup (people are going to say the typical it enhances beauty) thats fine but if you look completely different without makeup that’s insane.... disregard the you’s , just speaking in general😊❤️
Child people have said that to me and I took it as they were being honest. How bout we normalize accepting honest feedback gez. People say they want friends but as soon as you get real with them they stop speaking to you, some of you are very insecure thats whats really going on.
I remember there was a reddit story where this woman was in her wedding day and her husband was happily talking good things about her on the mic. He said, “ she is so brave .... blah blah” and she was like ayo wtf?? She realized its because she’s a BIG woman. Why did it have to be mentioned in her wedding day? Notice that i only called her woman in my first sentance. Why does her size even have to be mentioned?
Tasha Cudjoe We are average people, we don’t belong as models because we’re ugly. Although most people are average looking, we’re just considering ugly because of beauty standards. When someone comments this on your post its like “You’re so brave!!!! Showing your thing you SHOULD BE self concious about because its very ugly but youre fighting against the beauty standards! You indeed are ugly, thank you!”
Yea my dad always use to say u better watch ur weight before u get fat..as if no man will want me as I grow older and as my body naturally changes!! 🤦🏾♀️
My mom taught me a "rule" for letting people know things about their appearance. If it takes less that 2 minutes to fix, tell them (salad on their teeth, unbuttoned shirt, etc.), if not, stfu
it's true, and anyone who denies it is lying to themselves... it's pure projection. so many people don't ever take a step back far enough to realize how shallow and vain what they are thinking really is.
It has nothing to do with other people insecurities because other people may not have skin issues. It's more to do with the Western expectations of perfection.
This perfection culture makes everyone feel it's ok to be cruel to people who are ok with just being themselves, or who don't feel a need to always look made up .
This is true. I get so many compliments being regular. Having a pudge and a cute face and basic makeup than looking like a vixen 24/7. As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned less is more…THANK GOD!

Growing up, my mom say things like "it's so cute when a woman has a little belly" or "i think dark eye circles so beautiful" Or "I like her nose I think it makes her unique". Because of that I've always seen so called "imperfections" as beauty. At the time I didn't know they were "flaws" and it wasn't until I got older and I heard other peoples negative remarks that I realized.. If all parents raised their kids this way, I think men and women would appreciate those qualities in eachother.
My grandma always said she liked dark circles on people-she said she thinks it gives them a unique look. Maybe she was just saying to make me feel better about my hereditary dark circles 😅 but I appreciated it nonetheless

Right? At this point, just accept and love yourself as is, because the current trends you’re trying to change yourself for? Yeah those trends will also change and you’ll find yourself constantly sculpting yourself to fit into society’s current it girl. I know it is easier said than done to love yourself, but that’s the best advice I can give ya. It’s up to YOU to put the effort.
This is why some TH-camrs don’t even show their face, because people will be judging them on how they look instead of listening to what they’re saying.

There used to be daytime and nighttime looks. Everybody looks like they’re about to go clubbing no matter the tone of day. It’s very strange to me. I’ll see a woman with full face, short, tight dress, and sky high stilettos at 11 in the morning, and I’m think where is she going?
Watch Abi Gibsons video called “How to be ugly and confident” She talks about how it’s ok to be ugly. I watch it every time I feel insecure it’s a really helpful and uplifting video
Yes, I dislike when people say to anyone especially people who don't fit in with able bodied, eurocentric standards. It's these same "Everyone's beautiful" people that will laugh at you for being ugly, for not wearing makeup or not brushing your hair or being 'deformed'. Certain people can't access things because of the way they look! From their identity, skin deep, expression, structure, anything. It's a horrible discriminatory system.
Which is really fucked up since a person's face is something you're born with and can't change. But, taking care of your body's health and making sure you don't look or smell like a decomposing body is a completely different story since everyone can and should change these things pretty easy.
My favorite youtubers are the ones who keep things REAL. You’re right…average bodies/faces need to be normalized and embraced. Most perfect appearances are lies anyway.
My whole family comes down on me because I let my grays come out. However, it doesn’t bother me at all. They say I’m letting myself go, and you’d knock off 20 years if you dye your hair black again. But it really doesn’t bother me. I wish I could wake up one day and have my hair all white in one shot. Like, I take a shower, brush my teeth, get dressed and groom myself...I don’t see myself letting myself go
That’s not always the case people with their priorities together have negative opinions about people all the time. From your perspective none of the people that say bad stuff about Donald Trump have their priorities together? It’s just disrespectful to comment on her looks to her, but have you and EJ said negative things about someone’s looks before, ( just not to the person, it’s human nature. You might want to say some negative things about this comment, but keep in mind I’m not being negative just giving a different perspective😊
@@NAL948 it’s a song lyric not that deep but thanks for your perspective but to be clear the lyric/statement isn’t saying that only people who don’t have their stuff together talk about others it’s saying the one’s who do the MOST shit talking don’t have their shit together and yes that’s a generalization that won’t apply to all but it certainly applies to many. I agree everyone talks their shit but from my experiences the ones who do it the most are ignoring their own flaws while pointing out everyone else’s.
The coolest person I've ever met didn't even give a shit how she looked, didn't give a fuck what anyone thought of her and just said whatever was on her mind. I thought we loved natural beauty but I guess that even being natural is heavily subjective.
From my experience, as a white female with black and brown friends, I saw those friends not wear a full face of makeup because they were unable to find shades of foundation, concealer, powder, blush etc...in their shades nor shades that complimented their skin tone. Please keep in mind that I'm talking about the experience I had with my friends in particular, not black and brown women as a whole. But I'd imagine most if not all black and brown women went through this kind of thing before cosmetic brands became more inclusive.

Timberly6231 I agree with you re: social media & I know sin, so-called politics, the "news" & much more has destroyed society - Social Media just exacerbated & sanctioned sin. Thanks for your comment 👏
we need to normalize looking NORMAL, not like all those photoshopped versions that we see on the internet. Its fun to wear lots of makeup or dress up sometimes, but we need to realize that people don't look like a instagram filter in real life.
It bothers me when youtubers apologise for not having their nails/hair/other done. Like wtf? Doing that further reinforces unrealistic expectations imo
Omg I hate that. There's one particular youtuber, that I am like but, I always cringe when she apologizes for not having her hair, makeup or nails perfectly done, or whatever and she starts making fun of herself or makes derogatory remarks about herself. I'm always left feeling like shit because usually her hair, face, nails, skin, clothes or whatever is way nicer than mine, so if ahe looks "disgusting", what does it say about me? The other day she put out a video and she claimed to be a frizzy mess and apologized for her hair. I'm like I wish I could get my hair to behave like that. She clearly has never had to live with having hair like mine. My frizz is for real! I have perpetual frizz horns on the side of my head!
Same, I find it a bit annoying, even though I know it's unfair to be groan at the people affected by society-wide pressures instead of the root of the issue. I think it's a bit of a defense mechanism though, the idea that if you point it out first and apologize people won't be so critical, that it hurts less when it isn't a total shock.
@@milkduds9148 yeah I see that. One way to "solve" that could pehaps be to acknowledge that they know they don't look their best and then say something like "but never mind that!" Or "but lets pretend that I don't". That way they have acknowledged it so that people may not feel the need to tell them, while not reinforcing the idea that one always has to look perfect. (If that makes sense)
There is beauty in being real, fearless, and unapologetic! I put value in how a person makes me feel, the content of their character. You make me smile and that’s all that matters.
Also people are so much harsher on women for existing naturally. Like women existing naturally shouldn’t be looked down on. Whereas men are expected to only exist naturally
Well... yeah. If women wear makeup most of the time, that becomes their “normal” look. So if someone sees you without makeup, they think you’re uglier than you normally present yourself. It’s common sense. Don’t act like this doesn’t work in favor of women. Without make up, lots of women wouldn’t be able to attract the guys they want. It’s a double edged sword.
I think this can go a step further and say let normalize being human, not a friggin’ commercial, fashion or not. People are not your entertainment unless they chose to be. The way they look, the way they speak, the way the move should be accepted as long as it doesn’t cause any harm to another being. People act like anything less than perfection is a personal attack on their being. And it’s taught at such a young age. Children discriminate against each other if they stutter, trip, can’t do a dance move, have a big nose, have super dark skin- it’s just so much pressure for people it’s not natural to.

Same. People say this to me frequently even when I’m not tired. If I’m tired, I’ll tell you I’m tired. I’ve never looked at someone and thought to point something like that out. If I’m asking you something, I’m asking you if you’re ok or if something is wrong because you’re acting different.

I feel soooo bad for the young people. Especially young black girls. I feel like all the features on filters are VERY European. They slim your nose, pale you out etc.
The features on filters are very European but the way that young black girls want to look like is to have the “slim thick” look to there body or have perfect skin and wear lots of makeup. Not necessarily smaller lips or slimmer noses and defined jawlines like European women.
I watching a plastic surgery talk about how bad the filters. He was saying people come in and show him pics of themselves with a filter and he has to explain to them that a doc can’t make them look like that.

It all began with ads and movies. They would have these gorgeous perfect people in them. And now, social media, made it 100 times worse together with photoshop. It's ridiculous, delete all of them.
I'm 43 now so I can say from experience that back then we didn't put too much emphasis on looks. Yes, we wanted to look pretty but we didn't concentrate on every body part, like are my lips too small, is my nose too big, never talked about cellulite, certainly not worried about wrinkles. I'm so glad I'm not a young woman anymore, the pressure to look a particular way, everything must be perfect look wise. It is not realistic. It seems these days the only thing people value is looks. Social media is a big reason, but let's not forget who is promoting all this nonsense on social media, women, not men. We put ourselves in this position. The question is why?
Bruh you're literally looking like a damn goddess without makeup, couldn't stop looking at ur eyes they're gorgeous!!!! People rlly need to stop thinking they can comment on everything that others do or how they look like, keep ur damn nose in ur own development ffs 🥴
This is one reason I enjoy British TV. The actors don’t all look like fashion models. When I see these kinds of comments I think: 'It's your attitude that's ugly.'
True! I also realised from watching talent shows like AGT/BGT that British teens tend to look more like teens as compared to those in the US who tend to dress and style themselves more adult (on those shows).
Ditto ..I grew up watching BBC .. masterpiece theater etc, and that was exactly my 1st impression .. these thespians look like me, my neighbors, and real human Perfectly Imperfect family and friends.
Confidence is silent, but insecurities are loud. The people who always point out "imperfections" on others are projecting their own insecurities. Unfortunately, one unnecessary negative comment in a sea of a thousand positive ones can still hurt.
No truer words have been spoken! It still trips me out how warped my perspective of people is on social media vs reality. Is anyone even really themself anymore?? It's wild..
I personally think we need to normalize women with facial hair, or any hair for that matter. I don’t understand how this is still frowned upon. I think we need to normalize thinner lips, smaller eyes, wider waists, stretch marks, normal skin, thinner hair. Almost every Instagrammer looks the same, and suddenly most of em have suddenly developed hour glass figures, almost no one has cellulite online. And this is what makes people feel bad or inadequate, causing dysmorphia. I’ve heard women say ‘the things we have to do’ well, you DONT HAVE to do it, find someone that loves you for you. The fear of being perfect is we think no one will love us the way we are, we tend to accept that and then go about finding someone that doesn’t love our natural selves, are we that desperate for the wrong love? It’s not only a woman thing, i feel bad for guys too, who feel they need rippling muscles and a chiseled jaw to be attractive... we hold ourselves to such standards that we break ourselves standing for it.
Thank you for this!! I remember a few years ago I would constantly get compliments about my "fuller" lips (they are quite full for white people lips and they just fit my face) and nowadays people on Instagram ask me where my top lip is since it is not existing??? eeer thank you I don't want to get lip injections like anybody does. Also anybody looks the same. It's just getting boring
thinner lips have been normalized forever until recently... black phenotypes are just a "trend" now and itll go back to white features being the beauty standard real quick
Dark circles are sometimes hereditary. I love your comedy because I can relate. You are beautiful no matter what because you are beautiful on the inside 😘
Or they would try to justify their superficiality and judge those that chose not to live life by the standards and boxes they put themselves in. They are weak mined

As a pasty white girl who doesn't wear makeup and has always had prominent undereye veins, I always get questions like, "Oh, did you not sleep well?" "Are you not eating enough?" Etc. etc. So, needless to say, I appreciate this message. :'D
Same! I've been asked if I'm sick, didn't sleep, etc. One time, a coworker asked me if I did something different with my makeup? I told her that I tried blush. Her response hurt. She said, "you need to do that more often, you look SO much better." How bad did I look before 😢
I just stumbled on your videos today and wanted to say I'm honored to meet a woman as well spoken and beautifully expressed as yourself - I hope to be more like this one day, and thank you for your words- Intelligence is beautiful.
We need to stop calling them “imperfections” or “blemishes” because they’re natural. Stretch marks are natural, cellulite is natural, hyperpigmentation is normal. Who are we to call these things are naturally occurring imperfections? Why does the body that I’m born with and that I’m living with have to be imperfect? I didn’t ask for my body to criticized and I’m tired of people I don’t even know defining what is accepted and what’s not when I didn’t even ask for this body. Why isn’t the body that I have perfectly fine the way it is?
I don't care about being ugly or imperfect, the perfect in a human does not exist, I am only human and not for those things will they treat me better, I only have dignity for accepting that my value does not depend on how I look. (Like right now, my English can improve)

I'm thrilled when I see TH-camrs who aren't glammed up. My daughter has pointed out the circles under my eyes. They don't bother me and I told her as much. They're not going anywhere. I wouldn't be me without them.
You can't even search for "natural makeup tutorials" without them listing like 20 products and they still end up looking all glammed up at the end. it's really hard being a brown girl who's not interested in being glammed up. I'm having a hard time with the fact that my natural face and hair is not "professional" or okay to wear out in the world.
Honestly makeup costs too much and for what?? To change the way you naturally look to appease everyone? Why can't I wear makeup while also keeping my face and having it cost a reasonable amount??
You dont need a tutorial. Just whatever makes you feel comfortable! But in my opinion if you want a good idea of some makeup that isnt glammed up id say some base like light foundation/concealer, blush or bronzer, mascara, and lip product. Nothing too much if you dont want to. Also you can do really natural eyeshadow like one color of a shimmer or a matte if you want. What i listed is good for professional makeup and really anything. But feel free to add or subtract some. But i definitely agree with you, i don’t think its fair for females (yes i am one) that we always have to use products to cover us up to look professional. Like all guys need to do is be clean and some hair gel. But for females the standards are way higher: hair done, makeup done, nail polish covering your nails, etc. Its so hard to get anything done as a female but nothing should stop us!
Oh my gosh, me too! I’m currently looking up beginner natural looks for black women and they’ve all got a million and one products. What happened to the days when a girl could just buy a few products and call it a day?
Who told you your face and hair doesn’t look professional? News flash people won’t tell you but the higher you go in the corporate world in America you wil definitely see black womwn with their natural hair usually straighten or a type of natural hair style. Don’t fall for the exaggerations online.

And of course those same ppl came back saying sorry and rip. Folks just need to mind the business that pays them. If u can’t say anything nice keep it to yourself. 😤
I was just thinking the same thing! No one knew of Chadwicks battle and Yet said so much. The thing is we don’t have to let pride prevent us from growing. If you were once a person who spoke out of judgment, learn to keep things to yourself in the future. Create new friendly & caring habits.
I also want people to normalize our face and bodies as we age, especially when it comes to women. Having wrinkles is a part of life and people romanticizing younger features on older people is weird and unhealthy.
It will only be normal if people stop trying to look young. If people want to use botox and filler, it will never be normal. I personally would love to see a lot of these botox places get shut down, or be made illegal, then people would have no choice but to age normally 😍😍😍
Here here! Youth worship is so damaging. We need to stop complimenting people by telling them they look young. You can look your age and be attractive. You don't have to try to look 20 forever you can look like a 45 year old its ok.
I’ve had a period in my life when I had a very low self-esteem and there is one thing I realised: the more self conscious you are, the more you notice other people’s imperfections. If someone makes a comment on your appearance in a negative way just know - they’re insecure af.

I am Latina so I have very thick, dark hair and my body is hairy, all over - I'm talking unibrow, chin hair, sideburns, the whole shebang. Since I was ELEVEN - even before I got my period, my mom started taking me to waxing sessions and made sure to make me feel ugly or gross whenever I let my chin hair or eyebrows grow too thick. I was also born very thin but gained weight after I turned seven and my entire family - mom, aunts, grandmas and great-aunts would CONSTANTLY comment on my rolls, my thighs, my floppy arms. I was SEVEN. A literal child. And we're expected to swipe it all under the rug because these women are our family and it's supposed to be "advice" and a "form of caring" like??? No, you're just being shitty. I don't understand why people can't just NOT comment on other people's bodies? How hard is it to just be quiet? Seriously.
Thank you for pointing this out. I'm someone that just wants the best for my loved ones. I can see how you could say that stuff thinking it would help them societally, but families are safe spaces. This is a great reminder to watch what you say even if your intentions are pure.
But where does it stop? If we shouldn't comment on people appearance, are we going to boycott TMZ for talking trash about celebrities? Are commenting on peoples actions off limits? Are we not supposed to criticize movies, and tv shows? Do we ban criticizing everything? And to be honest, the lady looks grey. That's unusual, and it's human nature to recognize unusual activity, and to be somewhat alarmed by it. This lady looks like she has grey skin, and that's the reason why I clicked on the video. Plus you shouldn't put yourself in a public forum, if your not strong enough to handle other people's opinions on you and your work.

Well...

Yeah they just look like regular people which is nice.
True! I also realised from watching talent shows like AGT/BGT that British teens tend to look more like teens as compared to those in the US who tend to dress and style themselves more adult (on those shows).

Confidence is silent, but insecurities are loud.
The people who always point out "imperfections" on others are projecting their own insecurities. Unfortunately, one unnecessary negative comment in a sea of a thousand positive ones can still hurt.
Damn thats deep! I’m gonna remember this!
Reality is distorted enough. People need to stop trying to make everyone their rendition of a perfect avatar
It’s not only a woman thing, i feel bad for guys too, who feel they need rippling muscles and a chiseled jaw to be attractive... we hold ourselves to such standards that we break ourselves standing for it.
well said, i agree ☺️
Thank you for this!! I remember a few years ago I would constantly get compliments about my "fuller" lips (they are quite full for white people lips and they just fit my face) and nowadays people on Instagram ask me where my top lip is since it is not existing??? eeer thank you I don't want to get lip injections like anybody does. Also anybody looks the same. It's just getting boring
@@Jean_Brebeuf every single person has facial hair. We literally have hair everywhere. Have you never seen a person in real life before?

Thinner lips have already been normalized. Having big lips have just been a trend lately

I do this alot with plus size people on tiktok and they have the same fat distribution as i, but when it's on them it's cute and pretty and they are beautiful, but when I look at myself it's gross, ugly and unlovable. I've recently realized that I am worthy of love not only from other but also from myself! And that before I go on a weightloss journey i need to be okay with myself as is.
Just go to the gym and drink lots of water. You will feel 100 percent better about yourself and everything else falls into place 🤷🏾♀️
Societal beauty standards is suffocating. I believe we are forgetting what being human is all about.

💜
I don't care about being ugly or imperfect, the perfect in a human does not exist, I am only human and not for those things will they treat me better, I only have dignity for accepting that my value does not depend on how I look.
(Like right now, my English can improve)

@Danny B i love this comment
People should learn not to comment on people’s weight and skin. what happened with Chadwick boseman is a good example. This man was secretly battling cancer and people couldn’t help themselves to comment on how skinny and sick he looked.
Or Tig Notaro getting complements on her flat stomach when she was at the hospital getting chemo. Because she had cancer.
I mean, people can't read minds. People were probably commenting about him because they were worried bout him.
@@mechanomics2649 Nope, people were making jokes and laughing at his appearance. No one bothered to think that he could have more going on.

This is so on point
I love to see ppl in their natural form. I want to know that I'll recognize you without all the glam. I'm all for it! Everyone needs to hear this!

And normalize people who don't age because of genetics

I feel like even the people closest to us feel comfortable hurting us with words about our faces and bodies.
Seriously.
