I think on first watch it’s probably not as clear that Ty Lee didn’t just fold to join Azula after Azula messing with her once, but it’s that they have history and so it only took one incident for Ty Lee to be reminded how manipulative Azula is and that Azula was gonna have her way no matter what.
Of all the things azula has done what she did to tylee is probably why I dislike her the most. "Oh you don't wanna join me because you're happy with your life? I'll just subtly threaten your life to remind you who I am."
I was SHOOK when you said you’ve already watched the whole series😭 I’d 100% sub to your patreon but A) I’m broke🥲 and B) I enjoy watching reactions on my tv with the show going with it, needing to have multiple things open at once would distract me from the other😅
I still can't believe that a high ranking official like May's dad didn't have a nanny/guard for his toddler. Like you're in enemy territory, your wife just got attacked last night and your toddler is still just chilling alone. Like bruh. I know it's for the plot but damn, that's next level incompetence
It might have something to do with the fact that the fire nation has been holding themselves up in this bubble of they’re doing right, they’re spreading their awesomeness, which could lead to a false sense of security. Still incompetent for sure, but maybe that’s why?
Now that you have finished the series I will start pointing out things that you will only really notice after your second watch of the series that could spoil the future episodes in the series that are fun easter eggs though out the series. I’m so glad you enjoyed it to finish it so quickly I’ll be glad to watch each of your reactions as they are posted
5:40 Their dynamic is... fucked up to say the least. The more you watch this show, the more you will end the episode thinking "why the hell are those two getting along with Azula?" Specially in the case of Ty Lee, whom is a sweethart, but also in the case of Mai. If I had to encapsulate their dynamic with just one word, I would say "abuse". Because Azula abuses her position and their friendship to make her will upon them. Hell, even in this very episode Mai lets her own little brother go because of the influence of Azula. And I gotta say: I LOVE Mai. I know she is by FAR not the most beloved character of the series, but she delivers the most savage line of the whole Avatar Universe in a banger episode yet to come: "I ____ ____ more than I ____ ___" Chills. Also, I've been told that the blonde colour of your hair comes from the flare of the devastating AppaNukes. Is that true?
