What noise models are you using ? The default gcam ones or have you selected the correct (or closest) ones for the s24 ultras cameras? I've been using multiple AGC versions for several weeks and all output the pink mess on the front cam so great you've found one that can at least use 80% of it, but it doesn't work on my s24 ultra - I always get 100% pink noise. Did it just work out of the box on your phone or did you change any settings? Motioncam does not work with the main cam on my s24 ultra either, it's a known bug that 3rd party camera apps cant access the main cam on this device so I don't know what you've done to get it (mostly) working ! I emailed the developer of AGC last week and he told me we need to wait for samsungs update at the end of february to get it working.
Sorry, I missed this one! I did tinker around with a variety of settings, but nothing got me any further than what's in the video. I ended up just going with the defaults. My guess is that the updates currently rolling out should make a big difference. I do have MotionCam working though-at defaults.
The most important advantage of the Google camera is the increased detail of the photo and night photography that is superior to any other mobile camera, including the iPhone. Otherwise, if you do not use increased detail and rarely use night photography, a stock camera will suffice.
@@phonecomp let's absolutely hope so. Also maybe you can try somewhat regular content as a camera reviews, or just phone reviews. I bet you got plenty of them :D
Sadly it probably won' ever be fully working - samsung won't let us access all the resolutions so we'll only be able to have crappy 12 megapixel rubbish.
@@phonecomp yes but none gives access to the full 50 or 200 mp resolutions samsung won't allow it , it's been done with some other phones such as the mi 10 ultra but it usually requires root access
Thanks for the video. Greetings from Greece! I have two questions: is camera2api enabled by default to support gcam or do I have to install some other app? And a second question: are the gcam LMC 8.4 and SGCAM 8.4 versions compatible? I have read that for samsung s24 ultra only AGC is compatible
Hello SRM! That's true. I have had better luck recently with Samsungs--even with Exynos processors (which have been very tricky in the past). I'm hoping we can get a better GCam port soon. Glad the video was still a little helpful!
The main camera is messing up only when using HRD, it seems something is broken there, I've tried other ports too and got the same result. Also you can adjust the max zoom to have the pictures zoom in to "100x" without issue. I believe the setting is max zoom to 20 and it will give the same zoom as the stock camera.
Hello David! Yes, it seems like anything that requires post processing (HDR, night mode, portrait mode) just will not work with this port on the main camera. I'll adjust my max zoom, thanks for the tip!
Thank you for making this video. I use GCAM on my 2 year old Mi 11 Ultra. And compared to that - the Expert RAW, Auto mode and Pro mode all failed on S24 Ultra. As a photographer, not being able to shoot good RAW photos is a huge disappointment. I'm in the process of returning the device. But, maybe I should stick around and wait for better versions of the GCAM? 🤔
Hello Thelumiereguy! I'm sorry the S24 isn't meeting your needs! I tinkered with the expert raw app--it was just ok for me. You can shoot raw from many GCam ports, but you might also want to try MotionCam before you give up on the device. I basically only use MotionCam for raw video recording, but it captures stills as well. The Mi 11 Ultra is still a great device for sure though.
I've been using gcam on my Xiaomi mi9 for about 4 years now and couldn't be hapier with the results. It just sucks that hardware of that cameras front/back are just too old and have no stabilisation. Is there any newer phone which works perfectly with gcam and iproove it as much as my old mi9? I tried s23 but wasn't happy at all with gcam, so I returned it
Hello! Not at this time, though I'm sure there are more interesting and compatible GCam ports out now. Plus, the stock camera app has certainly improved. With premium devices, my experience has typically been that the stock camera is generally my go to app (especially for video), but if I have time and want a punchier look--I use GCam.
As a photographer, I'm off put by gcam. I've always found gcam for the most part. To be color inaccurate, to punchy, saturated and overall just not good.
I understand that, it flavors it's images quite a lot. Instagram ready photos are it's strong suit, but if you want a flatter more accurate image--you will need to pull GCam back a bit--which is totally possible in the settings.
Because GCAM meant to be used with config crafted for particular phone. Using it with default setting is like buying Sony A9 II on Auto mode, with cheapest kit lens and shooting only JPGs. You can, but what is the point? So installing GCAM is first step, but then downloading proper config and loading it is second, as much important. I did not have any phone yet, when GCAM was in any scenario worse than stock camera. And I had OnePluses, Samsungs and Xiaomis. And not having proper config is the main reason why these funny zoom options are enabled.
@@wsxaris1686 Cannot agree less. For me Samsung produces pictures that are too sharpened, too processed and too saturated for my taste. GCAM with good config on the other hand, can produce something that is much much closer to that I see from my sony A73. So again, it all depends on the config. You can make GCAM look anything you like. You like sharp and saturated. No problem. You like strong HDR? Again, no issue at all. You like DSL soft look - GCAM covers you. And for me, the single most important thing about GCAM. In contract to Samsung apps, GCAM produces linear RAWs.
@phonecomp I'm using snapdragon but it looks like it's a compatibility issue or something . My friends in other countries with the s23 ultra have gcam working
Hello! I'm not sure if the port I tested will work with an Exynos model, but there should be some GCam ports that are compatible. Try testing a few from here: www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
Hello Pixel! I've got the 12 right now, and honestly GCam doesn't produce much of a different shot than stock cam. In fact it's generally worse. I have a few more ports to try though. If I see some improvement, then I'll definitely make a video!
@@phonecomp I saw some photos comparisons in telegram and it seems gcam is getting better with deferent config files , some photos are better with gcam especially the white balance
Hello Baby Shark! I did test out the A54, but I didn't make a GCam video about it. The stock cameras are pretty good and at the time I couldn't find any GCams that could beat stock reliably.

You don't need it for the Flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra. You need it for a budget or mid-range phone.
Having a fully working GCam on the S24U would be a dream come true.
Paulo, I totally agree. I'm sure we will get one soon!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus with the GCAM installed and the resolution of the photos is very low, I don't understand why.
Which version of GCAM are you using, bro?
Somehow the agc version is showing me to update the app instead of installing in s24 ultra and I have only the Samsung default camera app in my phone

And 2yrs after, GCAM decides to monetize all your shots and if you refuse you are no longer able to access your photos and videos taken by GCAM.
