Always wondered how a break drum was done. I've got a bunch of tractor trailers drums n pondered the idea

I get a kick out of videos like this. It appears like you dove right into this project and did it on the fly but I'll bet even if you didn't put it to paper and pen first you contemplated and figured it out well in advance with hours of procuring the added parts as well. Well done and I hope it suits your needs for years to come.

Yea that's kind of how I roll. The procuring parts is the one that kills me because sometimes they lay around for years before I get to the project. I had that brake drum for at least a year LOL.

Great video 👍 I like repurposing old steel and making new things from other broken equipment. I grew up very poor so my family could get miles out of most things people junked out. If you get a chance stop by our small channel it's got a few tractor implement builds and some chainsaw videos and there is a lot more projects in the works on our channel. Have a great upcoming weekend.

Great build. I like the ash dump idea, it seems a lot more air tight than the style I used.
You're in Kansas right? Where do you get your coal from?

There is a local guy just south of KC that has Bituminous coal and I buy Anthracite Coal from Tractor Supply.

The clay should have been molded with less moisture.

    Interesting build!
Question... what is your mix for your fire clay?
I sure would have liked to hear your thoughts as you built it. Voice over rather than music.
    Thanks for the video...

The Fire Clay was left over from the Rocket Mass Heater build. It is a 3000 degree clay I bought at a local pottery supply place. The sand I mixed it with is the sand used under paving blocks, a lot more coarse than regular sand. I currently lack a decent Microphone to do the voice over thing, it will happen eventually, I am just one of those old farts that doesn't get in a hurry to do anything LOL.
