Got mine yesterday and was VERY impressed. I own hundreds of knives, including knives from Mastersmiths and many well known makers and this stands out as one of the very best in my collection. Amazing attention to detail. Fantastic ergonimics and very importantly, the sheath is outstanding. One of the finest kydex sheaths I own. The wait time was about 6 weeks (although it seemed longer :) ). Thank you!
Hey Guy do you anticipate or know if there will be any extra GSO 10 or 12's available for purcahse after filling old orders out of those stacks of 10's and 12's that you showed in the video or are all of those already spoken for and allocated to backlog orders? Would really like to get a GSO 10 or 12 or both lol.
Just got my edc 4 in yesterday. Man is it incredible! So beautiful , solid , ergonomic. Just wow! I’m glad y’all are up and running efficiently! This edc 4 is solid evidence of that. Just wondering how are the edc 5.5 coming. I ordered one of those to and I’m patiently anticipating it.
Thank you so much for the great feedback! From a manufacturing standpoint, we have our processes super dialed in. We will have some updates on the EDC-5.5 shortly!
Good morning Guy and many thanks for the update! Question: You mentioned that orders can be changed to K890 steel. If one did this, what would be the turnaround time, or would one go to the back of the "queue"? That said, is it worth changing steels or is it better to wait it out? Thanks and keep up the good work!🙂
The EDC-4 in K890 would ship out next week. For other models, if that steel is an option, there would be little real benefit, unless we were running short on Magnacut parts. Most of those models are also wrapping up shortly.
When our production and expected profitability get wiped out, it still affects other things. That said, you can see in the update that we're getting those wrapped up. Thank you for your patience and support while we get this situation corrected, I know that you will love your new knife.
Hoping the GSO 4.5 Standard k890 won't take too long. Was under the impression those were going to move fast out the door when I ordered. Seemed to have good progress before you started switching to the EDC's, to push them hard. And been pretty quiet on the GSO 4.5 Standard over the last 2 months or so.
They are moving through production quickly, we just had to absorb more loss and delays along the way than I would've preferred with some of this Magnacut. We are getting it done though.
The first batches of K890 were done by Peters' and were done to a very high standard. Trevor up there has been extremely open to feedback and genuinely seems to care. For upcoming batches we are speaking with a heat treating company who also has blade experience but owns much more modern equipment and very tight process controls. More on that in just a bit.
On the GSO-12 blades, a lot of those are being reprocessed, due to excessive warping at heat treating. It isn't ideal, but I want all of these to be correct. Right now we are finishing and shipping parts that were not warped up as badly. They are turning out fine, and will do their job very well. I will make a video about all of this in the next few days.
Great work! On one side I am looking forward to my 4.7 but on the other I'll wait all the time needed without a single word. I trust you ;-) there are simply some things worth waiting.
So little info on EDC3 (EDC2.7 original order). Please give us a deep dive update to EDC 3s, with ETAs or known holds... So much talk about the positive momentum on EDC4s, but I can't understand why the EDC3 parts have been sitting so long? Wish you the best
Those are wrapping up and will deliver as soon as sheaths are done. The delays and losses associated with the decarburizing that happened at Peters' Heat treat, and the ongoing anomalies we are experiencing with Magnacut have affected our momentum. The fantastic progress we are having with the EDC-4 model is getting our production momentum back quickly.
Fantastic work! I love seeing the progress! So happy for the Survive! team. Keep up the strong work! I got my shipping notification for another EDC4 in Elmax! Super excited for that one to arrive. I do have a keen eye and I might have seen another order of mine in there, an F2 order 22429. I am lovin it!
Thanks for the update! It is like a tour in a candy factory for adults :) You've made a huge progress during last months. Great job! Any updates on EDC-5 in M390/Elmax?
Got email Tuesday that “Your order is ready to ship!” Order 22372. It’s Sunday and USPS tracking still says “Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item”. Did the package actually get shipped? Is there an issue with USPS or something else? I know USPS is notoriously bad, the package might have to travel through Texas to reach NY.
Hey Man, I haven't had a chance to check on that but it looks like the mail lady forgot to pick up on Saturday. I will run that bag of packages over first thing tomorrow morning. Sorry about that, small town stuff.
I love to see the updates on whats going on it. I mentioned a while ago i would be doing a review on my knifes after ten years of owning and using them it just went live yesterday. Thanks for everything you do
Oh wow, I would love to do a comparison of our new items against those older items. This has been a long journey, back then I never thought in a million years I would ever be a manufacturing company.
We are fighting the good fight! It feels good to have the first early reporting back from the lab, to understand unequivocally that this magnacut issue is nothing we did. We should have the full analysis back before long.
Hey Sorry, those were actually behind the Necker 2s! Fixtures are made, machining will begin shortly. We didn't like the machining standard of the older ones started by Millit, so we made brand new blades, that are being produced to our new standards.
Any chance I could get an update on order #20789? K890FFG placed in early November? Others have placed the same order in mid February and already received theirs. Mine’s been “in-process” all month. The sheath (black) and scales (green linen) were shown in stock several times the past few months as well. Thanks
Hey Man! Those have been leaving, basically all at one time. New and older orders are all together. Our website does not differentiate order numbers by model. Our website platform does allow us to build knives from inventoried components, but there are some shortcomings in other areas that make things in the shop more difficult. Your order was on the shipping bench, Ellie has been getting things packed up and it looks like you should have a tracking number now. 😉
I got a shipping notice Tuesday morning 3/12, but as of Friday afternoon 3/15 the USPS tracking still says “Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item”. Do you know what’s up with that? Do they have the package or not? Thanks.
Without an order number, I can't confirm for sure, but that usually means the postal carrier just hasn't picked up the package from the shop yet. That or it just hasn't been scanned into the system at the sort facility.
I am very sound sensitive, so hearing protection is definitely needed in here. I am one of those weirdos that can hear the buzzing of electricity coming from an outlet or phone charger in a quiet room. The world has gotten so loud in my lifetime. 🙉
Oh, what an enjoyable video. 😃 I try to keep my anticipation in check, but it's very difficult when such positive videos appear. I am happy for you and hope that your experiences will bring a good future. Nice to have seen something new from you again. Greetings from Germany
How many hundreds or thousands of blades have you made and finished, without finishing the GSO 5.1s? When Tyler emailed me in December 2023, he said that the backlog should be cleared out by the end of 2023 or very beginning of 2024. It is now March. My order was made 18 months ago, 9/12/22. All last year, you posted new knives, new blade steels, new updates. Now you are showing hundreds of knives completed and being mailed out, but *how much longer for the original 5.1s to be finished* ? How many are left? Order #17666
Hey Josh, I looked up that order, it looks like a GSO-5.5 in Magnacut? Most of those are ground and finished, it will just be a bit until we can get sheaths templated. Unfortunately we've found there were some miscommunications in some of Tyler's messages. Lucinda has been hanging out a few weeks now, and starting to get those things squared away. It will take some time, but she is getting there. The larger issue, the thing that threw those GSO-5.1s and our production pace WAY off track, was the massive amount of parts and time that were lost during the decarburizing situation with Peters Heat Treating. That took out about 30k in materials, 2.5 solid months of work, another 2 months of lost productivity while we all figured out exactly what was going on with the parts, and another 2 months trying to salvage what we could. All of that ran right into our move back east. We HAD to move, since our landlord already had a new tenant, who signed a lease for a much higher lease amount. We landed here in Pennsylvania only to find that our new lease space was not quite complete, power was not run, there was no water, and the concrete was not even quite dry. It took some time to recover from all of the above mentioned things, purchase more steel to replace orders, and then get everything made. The new knives you have been seeing are the result of steel that we already had on order when some of those other situations arose. That steel was not suitable for lost orders, so we made the best of it with the EDC series. I know it is frustrating to see, but that is actually to get everything else back on track pretty quickly now.
Magnacut comment: When your lab knows the composition that the sample is supposed to have, and then has to step back and reassess the analytical technique due to an "unknown element", you have absolutely discovered something new, and probably problematic. Also, aren't aggregates of vanadium (carbides) exactly the sort of thing that the CPM process is supposed to eliminate?
Yeah, this is starting to get very interesting. There indeed should not be areas with excessively high alloying elements with particle steels. I am personally curious to see if we have something poorly mixed, or if alloy migrated during the processing of the ingot. The chromium in that area is exactly where it should be. 🤷🏻♂️ We will have more samples going out to more labs shortly. Two labs are already involved in this now, we are all about to learn some things.
Kudos to Lucinda for affirming and communicating in making my order #17751 change from a GSO 5.1 magnacut to a GSO-4.5 Bushcraft in Scandi: Böhler K890. I was happy to see that my Bushcrafter was in the mix of this update too! I'll still need a GSO 5.1 and eventually will get one when an acceptable durable stainless material is found, hopefully reliable AEBL or even something newer from Bohler. Seeing your past test on wood with a true scandi edge, and even testing it on purple heart wood was most impressive. Keep perusing the truth.
Sheaths are being made. Many of those blades are finished and in assembly now, with the rest in finish grinding, as outlined in this video. I mentioned this in previous videos, but with some of the delays and unanticipated loss regarding the Magnacut and Peters Heat Treating decarburizing our entire Magnacut production, we needed to get some steam back in production. The EDC-4s and upcoming GSO-4.5 extras in the Bohler and Uddeholm steel are getting us there. It has been a long journey but we're bringing it home.

Thanks for the update! What’s the latest on new orders of gso 4.5 standards? I saw the preorder option was taken down.
A lot of those are in assembly right now and the rest are on the bench, ready for finish grinding.
Good morning Guy and many thanks for the update!

My GSO 4 has nothing to do with magnacut and still nothing since Dec 2022.
When our production and expected profitability get wiped out, it still affects other things. That said, you can see in the update that we're getting those wrapped up. Thank you for your patience and support while we get this situation corrected, I know that you will love your new knife.
Excited for my 4.5 standard magnacut. To echo others it helps to see where they are in production
Hoping the GSO 4.5 Standard k890 won't take too long. Was under the impression those were going to move fast out the door when I ordered. The GSO 12 … did Peters do the heat treat on those, and if so what makes you feel confident in that 3V? Also who is heat treating your K890?
The first batches of K890 were done by Peters' and were done to a very high standard. Trevor up there has been extremely open to feedback and genuinely seems to care. Thank you for that. I have a customer here in the shop now, who said the exact same thing. Once folks get these in hand, they will understand.

I'll be back to the shop in a bit, I'll check on your specific order. That should have been out earlier in the week, now I'm just curious.
Who else was looking for their order # on the tags…
Ellie is packing them up now!
I wonder what order numbers they are shipping atm?
Aside from some Magnacut orders, all outstanding EDC-4 orders are done and on the shipping bench.
Waiting on the GSO Bushcraft in Magnacut!
What is a realistic time frame for the TSKs? I rarely see them even mentioned, and for many months your production schedule says "waiting on sheaths".
Sheaths are wrapping up! Just got that notification yesterday.
I like how everything's going smooth. I can't wait until those 5.1's come out. Keep up. Good work. Keep the chin up
We are fighting the good fight! It feels good to have the first early reporting back from the lab, to understand unequivocally that this magnacut issue is nothing we did. We should have the full analysis back before long.
It sounds like my GSO 4, 4.5 and 4.5 bushcraft is almost finished!
Yes they are!
What about the EDC2 blades

Thanks for the update! Hope order #13653 was in the stack of GSO 12"s!
We are getting those done as quickly as possible. Thank you so much for stopping by, I really can't wait to get these all out of here.

Love your knives❤approximately how long would it take to receive a gso3,if I ordered right now?thanks!
Any update on the gso 3 k890?
Those are getting ready to head out for Heat Treating.
Thanks for the update! Is the order #19961 in the stack of GSO 5.1s!
We are working on them!
Can't wait to get the pikal and gso10
Blade geometry and good heat treatment transcend steel choice.
I agree, and both things are even better.
I got a shipping notice Tuesday morning 3/12, but as of Friday afternoon 3/15 the USPS tracking still says “Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item”. Do you know what’s up with that? Do they have the package or not? Thanks.

Man, I'm seeing dust on my 4.7 stack, lol I am glad you are wearing hearing protection
I am very sound sensitive, so hearing protection is definitely needed in here. I am one of those weirdos that can hear the buzzing of electricity coming from an outlet or phone charger in a quiet room. The world has gotten so loud in my lifetime. 🙉
I see my GSO4.7 in Magnacut on the table!
My k890 edc4 has shipped! Woo hoo
I hope you love it!
Bravo!!!
Oh, what an enjoyable video. 😃 I try to keep my anticipation in check, but it's very difficult when such positive videos appear.
I am happy for you and hope that your experiences will bring a good future.
Nice to have seen something new from you again.

Ooh that Pikal blank.
Oooh. Gso 12 ❤
Thanks for the update, Guy! These really help me understand what's going on.
We will be making a lot of amazing progress over these next few weeks. That is going to be really fun to share.

No, not at all. This is actually just starting to get fun.
What about 4.7 in Magnacut? Any chance to get my order shipped at all? I saw you had a bunch on the table there, does that clear up the backlog?
We will have those wrapped up by the time the sheath bodies are completed.
I think I saw it ! 5.1 on the table.
Oh yea! There’s about to be a lot of happy customers. Thanks for the update.👊
Yeah Man, we have already shipped out hundreds this week!
Hi Guy. Hi Ellie.
Nice surprise!
You got this;)
From Craig.
Order #19664.
Thx for the update. Keep up the awesome craftsmanship ⚔️🇺🇸
Thank you! We will keep fighting the good fight.

Got to respect your transparency and arduous efforts to make things right. Most would give up facing such set backs and losses.
