The Cat and Norman Smiley were really talented dudes. Great all-rounders that were underrated in their entertainment
Smiley was a classically trained wrestler. He played more of character than a hand, but they were nothing alike.
Norman is a god!
Ain't no way we can forget about them two legends and their legendary dance moves 😂😂
They didn't have the IT that you need they weren't interesting and no one cared about the matched they were in and no one cares about his karate
@@ratsgninrom999no one cares about your opinions you fucktard.
I'm so happy that The Cat spent his time with the family! Awesome!
As a fellow father, its pretty sweet.
Somebody call his momma
@johnbach2380 ok tough guy
Dang, he aged well!
Black don't crack.
Black don't crack 💯
@@Teddy42Oit's more that whites don't use lotion tbh. 😜
@@Teddy42O yes it does because they smoke it
@@Teddy42O"Black don't crack."
If it's considered wrong to call asians "yellow" and natives "red", how is it okay to call people who aren't albinos "white" and brown people "black"?
Hint : Ernest is wearing a BLACK t-shirt.
Ernest was my dad's favorite...
As soon as I'd yell " Daaddddd , The Cat is on!!"
I can still hear his footsteps moving with the quickness. 😂😂😂
When ever I see him I always get the Mike Epps Vibes and that dude is Hilarious.
Ernest is the Man an Icon a legend who really needs to recognize for Work.
He definitely could pass for Mike Epps’ brother…they sound just alike 😂😂😂😂😂
icon is a stretch lol
@@Geraldo-ro9rcyeah,he’s a icon, during his WCW days people loved Ernest, the brother was real entertaining
He looks amazing, aged very well...
WWE wasted DDP - like they did with other WCW stars.
That's exactly why Sting didn't jump over...he knew.
@@williamsmith666 eventually he did jump, lost to triple H at wrestlemania and got hurt during a match with Seth Rollins. And I so wanted a Sting vs Undertaker match ☹️
If Vince didn’t personally create you, then you were nothing in his eyes. You didn’t exist outside of WWF/E except for Ric Flair.
@@williamsmith666 Sting didn't go cause of Rock which was stupid
@@keltrepes2534 Yeah WWF never acknowledged other Promotions yeah right. 🙄
Cat was one of the best WCW had to offer. That whole mid card was better than the upper card a lot of times. Him, Wrath, Glacier, Norman Smiley, Disco, Alex Wright, Hugh Morris, The Maestro, Finley, etc… these guys were hilarious and fun to watch. So entertaining
*Glacier* = flush yourself down the toilet now
The Cat looks like he could still whoop the whole Armstrong Family!
I remember he attacked two of them during a interview
Somebody call his mama!!!!
@@blakman1982 yooooo it's crazy he actually said that the next night on nitro as security was putting handcuffs on him.
The Cat is such a likeable dude.
Interviews with guys from pro wrestling who didn't particularly like and still don't like pro wrestling have great moments like these. Throwback to when guys entered wrestling solely to make money.
Who was that guy? Uhh... Ohh yeah, John Cena.
There's tons of people, more so now get in for money.
Cena killed alot of careers. Nobody talks enough about it.
Clearly didn't watch the video. What careers did Cena kill? Kenny Dykstra? Alex Riley?
Cena has been putting newer people over more often than not in recent years I thought
@@miraclesage8622 To the point where people beating him doesn't mean as much as it used to.
@@ericdxfan511 yup
@@ericdxfan511 Mr Kennedy? Bad news barrett? Damien sandow?
Not using the Cat, Norman Smiley, Crowbar etc.
Was a huge fail by Vince.
I think about stuff like this often. Like I start to think about pieces of wrestling history that never happened over petty decisions.
Agree, but the way Vince f'd it up w/ DDP was his biggest mistake w/ former WCW guys
Nah. Hell, WCW shouldn't have even used them. Taking up good TV time.
😂 you serious none them would gone over they all below midcard nice try
I remember when I tuned into Velocity on a Saturday Night in November 2002 Josh Mathew’s introduced him to the commentary team. That same month Justin Robert’s debuted as Velocity ring announcer.
He looks incredible
He really nailed the locker room differences. That could be an entire episode. Not really defending or criticizing either but the clear difference WWE brass had all the boys nervous to keep their spots. WCW, of course, was like high school with a lot of money. No one cared about their spot. They were on guaranteed contracts.
That’s why WWF won. The talent wasn’t complacent, they all were going for it each week. WWF guys knew that if WWF was successful, they would be successful. WCW knew their pecking order and everyone was complacent and didn’t care about the overall product.
This is what taking care of yourself and taking cold showers and meditation and deep breathing and no cigarettes and drugs looks like. He's a grown man who's in touch with his inner child
I've heard plenty of stories from people who were there. WWE in the 2000's was (is?) a place where (for the most part) only the scum would rise to the top. It was cut throat and they chose people who knew how to play their game.
WWE tried like Hell to stop Brian Danielsons momentum for that very reason leading up to WM30.
By all accounts he talked about as a great person and he seems like the exception.
Not a scumbag and musclehead, just a pure pro wrestler.
@@vent51177wwe didn't try stop anything they made where Bryan bigger star because what they did something Tony Khan can't do
@@vent51177they did kill Daniel's momentum a lil because he was becoming a bigger star than they wanted so they slowed it down you can tell just by watching it specially with Triple H being involved
I use to see Cat at Golds gym in Conyers and fighting at the American Karate place in Conyers
The Cat commentating on WWE Velocity doesnt get talked about quite enough! Such underrated material 🤣 He use to clown Josh Matthews ass so bad
I thought it was the rock on the thumbnail I need to get my eyes checked.
"I'm the greatest!"
Much like everything WCW, they only signed The Cat to bury him. Because the whole commentator thing sounds like a rib on him because of how he talks. Don't get me wrong I was a fan of The Cat, but he doesn't have the kind of voice that's right for commentary. Plus dude was a wrestler so randomly making him a commentator made no sense. The same way having DDP stalking Taker's horse faced manish looking wife made no sense with him being married to Kimberly.
😆 Well, Booker T doesn't have the smoothest commentary either but he's doing podcasts and doing pre- Mania hosting.
😅😂🤣
I think you're right but it's just crazy to think Vince would hire these people and pay them well just to bury them and make a joke out of them. If so that's really strange but it could fit Vince's fetish for humiliating people.
Wcw didn't sign him to bury him tho he got over huge especially on the mic so why not use his best asset?
@@TheNewWhiteDope . Because Vince buried every WCW talent.
To let them know who was boss.
So he could say that they were nothing without him.
He belittled Booker T when he first got to the WWE. So much so that Sting refused to join them right away.
Sting went to go help start TNA wrestling instead. Double J said as much in an interview. The cable company wouldn't put TNA on the air without Sting.
@briansmith48 you're giving him too much credit he was such an egotist he wasn't aware of wcw guys to know their weaknesses to bury them most of the time. If they showed up and he got it they got to be Vince creations like Benoit,Austin etc.
I used to have a good laugh every time the cat would get on the mic and start dancing like James Brown 😅
Yeah he was funny as feck.👍
cena drove away millions of fans honestly.
How?
@@chadk890 we stopped watching for years and haven't gone back
It’s Mike Epps
If the Cat was thta great perosn on air, imagine the great father he was to his kids. Can't blame them from loving that time with their dad
Man Cat would’ve been and still would be entertaining as hell on commentary!
The Cat was a big miss for WWE. Honestly WCW could have done much more with him if Bishoff knew anything.
He and bischoff are best friends. He taught bichoff martial arts and his kids
The Cat and DDP are probably the best former WCWer's that WWE dropped the ball on.
@@johncook9392ddp was 45 when he came to wwe
"Miss"? They had him and they blew it, just like they did with all WCW wrestlers! Bischoff actually gave The Cat a ton of screen-time in WCW .
@@jonathancoleman6482 Doesn't mean they had to bury him like that. I'm not a DDP fan and I think they did him wrong. That Pop DDP got was insane when he took the mask off

I really took Ernest for granted
He would've been great with R-Truth.
Too bad they never crossed paths.
@@Trill_4_Life. They still can.
Now that all of the old gate keeps are going down. 😆
Wow. Miller is looking great these days. Time has been kind to him.
I don’t care what anyone says, and I’m a huge Undertaker fan, but he totally buried DDP. The first thing Taker said was, “ who in the hell is Diamond Dallas Page”? Like he’s some random jobber from the indies…DDP was one of the biggest stars from the WWE’s biggest rival. He was also a multiple time world champ. They really did DDP dirty
Cat was WCW from 97' to 01' and then WWE from 02' to 04' he made an appearance at Royal Rumble 04' and some Smackdown Live Tapings he wasn't in WWE for 4 years it was 2 years..
Some guys coming in after WCW folded a fan would have thought would have been perfect in the WWF/E never got the chance for some strange reason while others did. Like Shawn Stasiak charisma void came back and Chuck Palumbo and others similar and were given a shot but guys like Norman Smiley and Ernest the Cat Miller were either not used or not used properly.
Ernest Miller would have been great. But...
Norman Smiley had the body and the skill but he didn't have the face. Not that good looking of a guy. 😬
"never got the chance for some strange reason while others did"
Shawn Stasiak, Chuck Palumbo, Mark Jindrak, Sean O'Haire...
Look at their physiques & looks and guess why Vince gave them a chance.
Norman Smiley works as a trainer in NXT.
@@georgenoriegajr yes, but they had zero charisma, couldn't cut promos, & sucked in the ring.
@@atlien1988 Since when did that ever stop Vince from pushing one of these meatheads?
Staying true to his ethnicity, the cat points his paws at the white man. What a typical response from the night shade.

WWE was so intimidated by WCW talent
Ernest Miller crawled so that Brodus Clay could walk.......

@@Billy_Shears17 😂 very true as well
Great stuff..a real deep look at a situation
The Ricky Smiley of pro wrestling
Did Cena really have that much pull at that time. He is saying he had a dark match with Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin.. and then Cena did a run in a save… I don’t know
John literally came from OVW as the Prototype 😅
Cat Miller was very underrated wrestlers. His mic skill were excellent
The Cat was the best color guy Josh Matthews had an announcer, because in his lack of wrestling knowledge he forced Matthews to stick to the one thing Josh was good at. Calling moves. WWE tried to make Matthews a cute personality, and for what? Another Michael Cole? An inferior Michael Cole?
I always wanted to see the Cat and Norman smiley vs D-Lo Brown and the God Father
The Cat > MVP
My dad loved The Cat.... When he would come on Saturdays my Dad would be dying laughing doing the James Brown
It’s funny he’s pretty laid back here, but in his RF VIDEO - he was pissed! Still trying to find the clip.
Wasn't a rf shoot it was high spots. Great shoot by the way, and alot of it he was just playing with the interviewer and some fans took it serious. Yell
Seems like on this channel when the people in the comments disagree with how they think the experience should've gone for a wrestler they start saying he's wrong, bitter, or start making jokes insulting their intelligence. Seen this a few times unless I've missed something and everyone in the comments section worked her WWE and witnessed all interactions that took place there?
*JOHN CENA HAD TO ACT OUTSIDE HIS RACE/ETHNIC CULTURE TO KEEP A JOB FOR 20+ YEARS*
Sad is it not ????????? What would LIFE be, if he didn't do ANY of that ?
What an ignorant comment
Cat wasn't cut out for wrestling. He was a karate guy like he said.
He Is and was one of my favorites ever since before he had A gimmick and only appeared on WCW Saturday night.
wow they threw him into the frying pan with that commentary gig
They said "give the mic back to THE PROTOTYPE"
It's real simple it was because of john china that destroyed the greatest era in the snoozefest wwe the attitude era because when he was the sole reason vince McMahon went to the kiddy pg garbage that is still around today. Which ultimately made it unwatchable. I haven't watched it in over 20 years and guess what i don't miss that garbage.
Stop lying cena had nothing to do with wwe going pg
Almost click-bait. John had nothing to do with killing the Cat's mojo. It may not fit on the title that it was the Ref, but it's more honest. Do you need subscribers that much James?
I remember how big a deal he was when he helped out glacier in WCW vs Mortis and wrath
Damn seeing the cat it brings me back to the WCW days anyone remember the James brown v the cat dance off
The Cat was awesome in WCW
The Cat looks great.
Yup, all that shows the WWE wasn't really interested in The Cat. I remember when he debuted as a commentator. I was like who is this? Just last year I started watching Nitro and saw him debut and was like, Hey, it's The Cat!
I always like Cat..💯
Sounds strange that Cena would save the Cat against Benjamin and Haas after a tag team dark match. Wasnt Cena a heel at the time? Anyway, i could see why WWE may habe wanted to try him on commentary because he was good on the mic while he wasnt that big of a deal in the ring. But not every wrestler whos good on the mic translates to good commentary
Not yet, Cena debuted as a babyface and turned heel around the time he started feuding with Rikishi and rapping but still in the tights
I like this podcast
Cat forgot Cena, because Cat could not see Cena.
His athleticism was way ahead of his contemporaries.
I'm glad he left wwe.
🎶🎶SOMBODY CALL MY MOMMA🎶🎶
🤣 It Never had Life.🤣
Seems bizarre that they just asked him to do commentary out of nowhere.
Ernest could whoop Cena in his prime.
Never heard a good word about John Cena.
Everything is a problem. Bruh….exactly like like going to private school. You do something right and get in trouble because folks love it
Mike Epps
That voice
The wrestling business is notorious for burying BLK wrestlers!!!!
Somebody call his mama he’s about to knock somebody out
I wouldn't claim to be good friends with Johnny ace
“I was good friends with Johnny Ace” …is never something you want to hear at the beginning of a story.
Cena the corporate stooge politicer and Kanyon was technically a better wrestler
Stop the 🧢😂
Kanyon wasn’t that great of a wrestler bruh
B.S
@@magnicidal better wrestler yes not the better draw( entertainer) . People confuse the 2 all the time. Look at Brad Armstrong(Wrestler) one of the best of all time, better than the Rock(Entertainer ) but not a house hold named because he didn't draw.
@@ERC641 Bruh, I’m not confusing shit. The guy sucked. He ripped off cool moves from everyone else but he still sucked.
Wad his name ,Buddy Holley? John who.. oh yeah Cena… Hulk Owen.. oh yeah Hogan Hogan…
A bit of a misleading title. It was his interaction with the referee that ruined his motivation to continue wrestling.
Hey Cat you’re supposed to get old… Or look it
The more interviews Cena does and based on his comments still defending Vince after everything he has done, I really get the sense that he is a fake person and I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a few skeletons in his closet.

Wondering test 77
For a second I thought he was yoel romero.
His 2003 in ring return was garbage 🗑
I have zero recollection of The Cat appearing on WWF/E television. Weird.
He was in the 2004 Royal Rumble I vividly remember that. He was only on TV for like 12 weeks, fought on Velocity alot
Back when that weird Vince and Sable storyline was playing out (also Zach Gowan and Lesnar) Cat made some appearances.
80% of aew roster right now.........
WWE ruined the cat:( I research both his WWE matches n his old WCW matches last week n bro was awesome 😎💯 it Soo sad that WWE ruined his amazing character 😔 like my mum wud say comparing cat WCW to cat wwe is night n day.
I'm 99.999999% certain that Miller never had a tag team dark match against Haas & Benjamin where he was the babyface and John Cena did a run in to save the day, because time frame wise, it doesn't line up.
I've just looked and there's no reference to it on cagematch. Other dark matches and house shows are there from that time period, but no tag matches against Haas & Benjamin
Yeah , I don’t want to say Ernest is a liar but…something doesn’t add up
Commentary ain’t my lane!
Commences to host a podcast years later 😂 jk
I know it’s two different lanes
🗣️give the mic to Cena
John Cena seems awful
Seems like he enjoys being a victim
You noticed that also and if he isn’t the victim he’s the baddest man on the roster and every 300+ lb man was terrified of him and his karate 🤔 not to mention he brags in one video how he started at the top and never had to work his way up and in the next video everyone thought he was worthless and didn’t belong in his mind which is it Ernest was you shot to the top without paying any dues or you felt anxiety like you didn’t belong.
Cat must be bad at names. He actually had to remember who John Cena was.
Sigh. Guy got a job because he was friends with bischoff and wasn't good in the ring. How he had a job in pro wrestling as long as he did is beyond me.
Agreed.
