The arrangement and phrasing will sound different depending on the player, but on the same equipment, with the same settings, you literally can not change the tone. The strings are the same. They vibrate the same. They bend the same. This is the same type of thing we've heard for decades that just isn't true like so many other wives tales and such. "Electric heat dries out the air in a room more." This sort if nonsense gets handed down and nobody gives it any actual thought and they just repeat it because it sounds reasonable at face value.
