I was trying to test different glues to see which was stronger and a brick shattered.
They say to let Flex glue fully cure for 7 days. I would like to see it's strength at that point.

The sledgehammer was misleading, clearly the bricks shattered. the structural integrity of the bricks broke on sudden impact, but it's clear the glue was still holding on. So no fault of flex glue in that test. It was the brick material that failed around the glue, therefore the glue had nothing left to hold onto but dust. and the hangar test it clearly look like you put less Flex glue on the little cube then you did the gorilla glue which is thinner and covered the whole surface. You only put a thin bead across diagonally which probably didn't coat the entire surface of the cube. And who's to say both cubes were as clean as one another? I do automotive painting for a living. You did not prep those metal surfaces and there's no saying one wasn't more adhesive than the other. you should have light sanded both surfaces of both cubes and then cleaned with wax and grease remover and let dry for 15 minutes before you put the glue on. Both of those tests were unfair in Flex glues corner

Just for future reference, You should have started the Flex glue off at 10 pounds just like the Gorilla glue and used every weight for the Flex Glue that you used for the Gorilla Glue so that they both endured the same amount of stress from each weight which would make it a more even test. Overall awesome video though!

the one flaw is the lack of time consideration. Clearly, the glue would hold a heavy weight FOR A TIME, but the weight itself acted like a sped up gravity and since the glues are flexible, they bend under the weight and that will cause them to give out in a given timeframe BASED upon the weight. If you left your truck on the ramp for 30 min, it prob would have given out, too. So.... I didn't learn much with this except that gorilla glue foams up and that seems like an undesirable thing in most cases. Plus, did the metal blocks have any abrasive roughness to help the glue cling? That wouldn't matter in a side by side test probably but anyway....

try the glues again.

you also forgot to mention the density of metal is considerably higher, less porous than brick, so no penetration = less holding power.
If it can't penetrate the metal and bond more thoroughly then you're just relying on the power of the glues adhesive properties itself. Naturally the brick is going to hold more because of this difference of fact.

Just out of curiosity, did you use water on the surface of the bricks/metal blocks before applying the glue? The water is key to the glue adhering. Overall fun experiment to watch.

The thing about flex glue is that in the commercial it states that it can hold 1000 lbs when set for 1 week. Now when you let the flex glue dry for only 1 day, I didn’t have its full potential, but I understand that gorilla glue is meant for speed drying but for less power, and flex glue is a slow drying product with tough strength results. So the test with the square pipes is about how much strength each could hold in one day of drying, which is why flex glue lost

Gorilla glue is a water-activated epoxy, your supposed to apply a light coat of water to what your fixing then CLAMP because gorilla glue will expand to fill any crevice and harden.

Depends on what you are gluing together.
I guess both of these are general all purpose glues.
Will either work on something that gets very hot or is subjected to freezing tempertures.
Certainly gives a good baseline as to what each of the glues can do with regards to steel and bricks.
Might go out later and see if I can find some flex glue in the hardware shop, gorrila glue is everywhere

Mah gawd, an angel from heaven only here to test glues.
Pro tip: Gorilla glue works best when the bonding surface is wet. Also, clamping is needed because of the expansion. Last, blue tape the bonded crevices to make the most of the glue expansion.
As you said there was still brick left ln the flexglue when you hut it with the sledgehammer. This would presumably put the failure point on the bricks, not the flex glue, therefore making it an inconclusive test regarding the strength of flexglue

I did same when I was smashing a computer and shit, normally I wouldn't get hurt doing that, but a printer decided to go for my leg and has cut me a little bit with it's smashed up metal body, wasn't a big deal.

On the flex glue one inch square strength test. The chain slipped and ment the glue was taking more weight/ downward force as the weight accelerated toward the floor as the chain slipped. And once the weight stopped it wrenched the glue apart. Unlike the gorilla glue which was was gently tested and pulled apart.
