I’ve owned the SSA346 for the last 6 months, and every time I put it on I’m absolutely mesmerized by the dial. I bought it as a college graduation present to myself, and I’m glad I did since this is such a fine watch. I personally love the added complications, and with my 6.5 inch wrist the size is no problem at all. I was a bit leary on the size when reading and watching reviews, but on wrist it’s so comfortable and stunning to look at. Well worth the price! If you’re tempted, even slightly, get it. You’ll be glad that you did. I pondered for a few months and wish I would’ve gotten it sooner to enjoy this dial even longer!
Love the design of this but no sapphire crystal at this point beggars belief. Seiko penny pinching as usual. A used sarb off ebay is a better option, or the Reef Tiger homage.
As someone with an 8" wrist, coupled with an affinity for dive watches, I absolutely love this piece as my daily office wear. Thanks for the great video as always.
Every time a watch that I own gets reviewed I am anxious to hear your opinion. I’m glad this one was a good purchase. It was actually my wedding watch. I love it
It’s thicker because of the added complication, recessed calendar on the dial and the need for a higher hand stack for that concentric power reserve indicator. And they should have set the power reserve indicator hand between 10 and 2 on the dial like a gas gauge or maybe on the left hand side of the dial. Where it is now is counterintuitive because it appears as if the gauge is going down as the power reserve is going up.
Think that power reserve really sets the whole watch off for me! Absolutely love that complication, definitely adds to the dial presence. Lovely watch!
I am the happy owner of Fubuki (world version - brown strap) and if I had some free money I would choose Honeycomb and Irish Coffe in 3rd place. The levitating SEIKO insert and the hour indexes looks great, and the discreet blinks of the sharp edges from under the cuff are worth every penny.
I just won't be buying one until Seiko bring out the Scottish cocktail time range. One vodka and irn bru, all the flavours of mad dog 20/20 and the donner meat 'n' chips (no salad).
This is SO funny, I was just wearing mine today! I absolutely adore it and snagged a deal at a hair above $300 last Black Friday. It's so damned gorgeous.
I own this watch for past three years snd I just love it, I think you made too much of a deal with thickness, i dont think that the thickness is a problem it just is a beautiful and perfect watch and personally i like my watches to be chunky and heavy. But all in all a great review.
@@tippykaffu4047 It's a whole different story. Omega uses it for the sake of historical accuracy. And moreover hesalite can be easily polished if needed which is not the case with a mineral crystal.
Gorgeous dial and gorgeous iced blue color or at least I wish it was closer to the website image ... are there any chinese homages with a similar look?
Seiko has been making beautiful dials for many years now. My first Seiko had a great bi-level dial with a gold ring separating the levels. My current favorite Seiko 5 has a dial that looks to be a sunburst aqua colored dial, until you change the angle the light hits it. Then the dial looks like a lined globe with both vertical and horizontal lines. How many watches have a face like that for under $75? Great video as always Jody!!! Keep them coming, and I will keep watching them!
Seiko Presage Cocktail Irish Coffee is my first automatic watch. I bought it without knowing that it's limited edition for just about $376. Money spent without regret.
Wished you took it outside for a natural sun shot. I wanted the original cocktail time, was looking one for a few years and my brother surprised me for my birthday last year with this watch. To be honest you can lose your self in that dial. Additonally, this is my favorite watch in my collection, even if not the most expensive, but because my brother knew how much I wanted one and for the money that dial is amazing.
I was going to get that exact watch, but the leather band was a turn off for me. I ended up getting the SSA397 (off ebay for $399), moss green with stainless bracelet. Thanks for the input 👍
I just picked one up from an AD on Amazon for $449. Great price. Funny thing is I JUST bought the SRBP43 non-power reserve version for $319. I freakin' LOVE power reserve indicators on auto watches and I didn't even know this version of that Cocktail Time existed. I liked the watch enough to buy the even more expensive brother with the "gas gauge". I wish I could return the non-power reserve version, but I can't. Oh well, now I have an extra/backup super nice looking dress watch. LOL
Jody, you can get a pair of plastic calipers for like 3 usd. I use my digital calipers for precision work, but the plastic ones for general watch measurements.
I have the Blue Moon Presage and it is truly beautiful. If you’re careful, the hardlex is fine. However, it is a bummer that it isn’t sapphire. I just can’t help but feel that that is it’s biggest shortcoming. Nevertheless I recommend this watch! Great review, Jody! 👍
Hardlex....hardlex? I suppose Seiko would say “What do you want for $500”....I’ll tell you what I want for $500...A Sapphire crystal!!! How about a better stated daily variance Spec than +35 -45...With the best factory variance When measured if the watch is always in the 12 o’clock up position of +25 -15.... you know what I want for $500? A movement at the manufacture doesn’t give them selves that kind of slop! And something else that would be ‘just swell’ A dress watch that’s not thicker than most dive watches...At least the dive watches can justify that the ‘bulk’ is required to achieve The high water resistance rating...50 meters ww and 14.6 thick? Dial is quite nice… And they can keep it! Thanks for the great review Jody!
Got the dark green with the regular second. My dress watch, since I normally tend to bigger tool watches. Amazing watch! I always have to keep myself from staring at the dial changing in the light for too long! 😄
I own this watch. Very nice dial and not too big but the thickness of the case is a problem. Even more since it rests in my watch box next to the Cadisen c1032, much better watch, more accurate, easier to wear and a more rounded daily wearer. Both share the same seiko family of movements. The seiko is a keeper though as it was a present from my wife and is the only watch I own with a power reserve indicator.
You forgot the Kir Royal, red dialed version. I know I know- they "say" it's a ladies watch, but 34mm was standard for a lotta watch years. And if you haven't tried on the - it's not that out of place. Much thinner and looks great in the Presage Cocktail red. Im in the US.. I may wanna try talking someone into letting you review it.
I have the fuyugeshiki model and love it. The next i am looking into is the mockingbird and the starlight, but the starlight has been sold out. I avoid the power reserve version due it's height. Nice t-shirt Jody.
Another nice Presage. I have the "Blue Moon." The only thing missing with these pieces is sapphire crystal. Mine is on a blue leather strap as the original strap was too small for my 9" wrist BTW, my OCD kicks in every time I see your Rolex GMT wall clock with the non-functioning GMT hand! I end up somewhat fixated with it to the point where I miss some of the presentation. LOL! I must have one. From where did you get it?
To all the people who complained about switching from a 6r to a 4r I could understand the dissapointment....except when it comes to the models such as this with the date subdial and power reserve this makes sense with the 40 hr reserve opposed to the 50
Silver dial and silver hands, with the pattern of the dial running in the same direction as the hands. That makes the watch pretty to look at, but a nightmare if you want to tell the time and the light isn't just right. Go for one of the other colours!
The best dials are on their limited editions. I still have te SARY085 "Starlight" mint in the box. I am just not a dress watch guy. Every once in a while I think should I start wearing it but I saw some bloke selling one on the interwebs for 1700 dollars. Don't want any scratches on the hardlex. I hang on to it and sell it in a couple of years.
The SARB065 was 13mm thick. I suspect this version with the more complicated movement may need a little more space. If they'd gone sapphire, they'd have to flatten the crystal, and honestly, I'm glad they kept that true to the original design.
Wow, another gorgeous dial, and the thickness is a slab, is it the extra complication causing this? It doesn’t detract from the stunning elegance of this. I can’t help wondering if Swiss makers still can’t forgive Seiko for the quartz crisis?
I have the espresso martini. Beautiful watch and I've gotten compliments. I specifically wanted the power reserve. I also like their unusual reversed strap.
The reason for the crystal being mineral glass, rather than sapphire, is that in case of hitting a cocktail glass, it will scratch or chip, rather than shatter.
I'm amazed that a watch at this price point includes a Power Reserve complication. PR's were usually reserved for the upper level watches. But now even Tudor has a Power Reserve complication on its North Flag model. Have you ever thought of doing a video all about affordable watches with Power Reserve indicators? It seems like the PR complication is becoming more common and people might be interested in finding out more. Thank you for the great watch info, especially for focusing on watches under a grand. But we do appreciate the guest Rolex every now and then to spice things up!
I love the dial. I hate the thickness of the watch. If it were half the thickness I think they would have a real winner. The only other complaint is no Sapphire for a watch that cost over 400 dollars. I do think it is a good looking watch if only it was thin
I’ve got the Presage spritzer on a bracelet. Beautiful watch that I picked up very cheap on a sale. I don’t think it is as thick as this one. I won’t be flipping mine any time soon
I fell in love with a Rose Gold version I tried on at Macy's but I would like it with a sapphire crystal and a 6R movement. Is there a sub 1000 or even phantom 500 range from Seiko that looks like it? Thank you again Jory.

I replaced the cheap-looking, shiny strap with a navy blue alligator strap, and the dial absolutely pops!
I was thinking to do the same thing. Where did you get the strap from?
@@kamariunknown1071 Ebay. Many to choose from
Lol you really narrowed it down there mate @@Steve-vl9ed

I went with the Reef Tiger.
No1Viper Watch Reviews Thanks I will check that one out..
That dial isn't going to look very good in 6 months time when the crystal has picked up a few scratches. I'll never buy one of these for that reason.
Joe Green I’ve owned one for almost a year - no scratches. The hardlex is resistant enough and looks great.
mky hou When ever I've had hardlex it's scratched as easy as mineral glass. One good knock is all it takes.
Lovin the Talking Heads Tee
I would just go with the standard 3-hand Presage watches instead. Same movement and whatnot, but cheaper and only 11.8mm thick.
Have one, love it. Pretty much the only watch I have that other people notice. And like!
That is exactly why I went for the gimlet 3-hander. This one is too thick for my taste :(
which one sir?
As someone with an 8" wrist, coupled with an affinity for dive watches, I absolutely love this piece as my daily office wear. Thanks for the great video as always.
Every time a watch that I own gets reviewed I am anxious to hear your opinion. I’m glad this one was a good purchase. It was actually my wedding watch. I love it
Me too my wedding watch. Gorgeous.
Jody how many T-Shirts do you have? You should start a new channel “Just One More T-Shirt” doing a weekly review of the 7 T-Shirts you wear per week 🤣
It’s thicker because of the added complication, recessed calendar on the dial and the need for a higher hand stack for that concentric power reserve indicator. I guess you could argue that it moves from around hour 4, past 3, 2 and 1 until it hits.. 12? OK, never mind!
Doesn't tickle my pickle .Prefer an Orient Star or some of the seiko sarbs
Yeah this one is a bit too fancy for me
You can find used Royal Orients in the same pricerange.
Stunning dial! A bit too thick for my wrist I’m afraid though. I’ll have to add this to the “admire from afar” category!
And don't forget the buckfast dial
I'll take a snakebite and black
Like a menu at a Scottish restaurant - not much there & nothing you want...
I haven’t heard someone Reference mad dog 2020 in many years!🤭😆
Irn Bru dial with diced carrot texture, and a donner meat strap. Pure class!
I simply love the Seiko Presage line up... Don’t know why exactly, but they rock my boat!

You are right ! It's not as blue as shown in adverts and websites.
No sapphire for $400+? That's something I will never get used to.

I have one of these hands down the best looking affordable piece I have ever owned
I've just picked up the Irish coffee and it's a stunner
The dial is so beautiful it makes me forgive the watch for it's lackluster specs for the price.
I have the chocolate presage with the rose gold case and in the normal dial. It is my favorite watch after my Hamilton Ventura.
This is the most beautiful hockey puck I have ever seen.
I own this specific reference since a couple of years now and I still love its beautiful dial. An amazing watch.
... So I couldn't hold myself any longer. Bought it today. Thank you Jody and Seiko.
Got it for just under 400. Can't wait.
I have the Side Car, and it's my favourite watch over my more expensive Swiss pieces from Tissot and Tag Heuer
I have one of the Fuyugeshiki Limited Editions. A bit more expensive than the regular CT models but the dial is stunning.
Thats funny how Teddy and you coordinated this
Haha noticed that
Gorgeous dial and gorgeous iced blue color or at least I wish it was closer to the website image ... are there any chinese homages with a similar look?
These prices are starting to creep up too.
Wish Seiko did more of these color (iced blue) dials or brought them back.
