This actually works i used orange juice and a little less sugar and more yeast i didnt even use a brewing cap i just poked a little hole in the cap and after just 4 day it became 17%
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it. Yes the cap uses a pressure valve to release a measured amount of pressure to allow the drink to carbonate whilst simultaneously preventing any kind of bottle explosion from the gas build up. And you're right, anything that gets people into homebrewing is a good thing. Cheers!
You want to be careful with distilling because in the process of making ethanol alcohol you also make other chemicals like methanol which can make you blind if not kill you,.And its not as safe as spirits from the shop. unless you have a way of taking it out of the freeze distilled solution. If its in weak concentrations like beer or cider then its not a big deal. But you can really go blind if youre not careful with this. Methanol poisoning s not something to joke about

Eden Adam The last cap fitted onto the bottle was the Home Brewing Cap. It allows for pressure to be released from the brewing vessel so that the drink can carbonate without causing the bottle to explode. The alcohol strength is mainly influenced by the amount of sugar. The more sugar the higher the potential alcohol strength. But the more sugar you have the more time it will take for the yeast to convert the sugar into alcohol so it's a combination of all factors. The type of yeast will also have an impact on the brewing result. I tend to use champagne brewing yeasts as i find they are quite versatile. I wouldn't recommend using bakers yeast. A hydrometer will give you an idea of a liquids sugar content, it actually measures the density of liquid. Liquid gets less dense as sugar is converted into alcohol. This is because alcohol is less dense than sugar. So a high reading on a hydrometer at the start followed by a lower reading a week later will tell you that there is less sugar in the drink than there was at the beginning. I hope that helps, thanks for your questions.
If you put a hole in the balloon before you put it on the bottle it doesn't burst, I've never had problems with it, and I often have to resort to baking yeast
@Lithus17 Spirits are distilled, which is why they can be higher percentages. They first start off as low alcohol liquids similar to a beer or wine and fermented until the yeast die. Then the liquid is distilled which removes a lot of the water content leaving you with a higher percentage of alcohol
Adding water will most likely just weaken the flavours in your drink. It's the equivalent to diluting a glass of fruit juice with water. If you don't mind the watered down taste then it's absolutely fine to do and it won't effect the yeast's ability to produce alcohol. Thanks for your question.
no the cap isn’t just a cap with a hole in it, it allows air to go out without letting it get contaminated by bringing shit in. The said you can just not screw the cap on all the way, or get a ballon and poke some holes in it.
Here's some more tips to get a better product. Squirt some isopropyl alcohol into the plastic bottle first, cap it off, shake it around for a few minutes, then rinse it out very well. This kills contaminant bacteria. Second tip: boil the juice (with some optional blended fruit) with the sugar. This dissolves the sugar into syrup and kills contaminants in the fruit if you added any. Third tip: Use honey powder or coconut palm sugar as a nutrient source. Use exactly half table sugar and half coconut palm sugar / honey powder. It will ferment more actively this way and keep costs down compared to using only honey powder (which is an option). Fourth tip: Use distiller's yeast if you want more alcohol faster. Don't expect super high yields with bread yeast or standard brewer's yeast. You can probably expect about 12% after a week if you're just winging it, but you can get more if you use honey powder, table sugar and distiller's yeast.
That's the point, i started with the "e-z caps" and thought it was a great tool to learn. However - I could never get the alcohol content I wanted. Sweet juice with low alcohol = headache. So i upgrated to a 6 gallon fermenter and BAM 13% alcohol in 7 days - and it tasted like real wine.

Hi Varnavas, the cap is a home brewing pressure cap. It allows for fermentation and carbonation to occur in the same stage of brewing. It's a nice easy way to brew on a small scale. Thanks for your question (sorry for the delay in reply).
I don’t have that little cap thing can I just screw on the water bottle cap but leave it a bit lose and also can someone give me an exact amount of how much yeast like a teaspoon because my version of a little bit is like a tablespoon
Haha yes you are right Sir, but it does take just 30 seconds to put the juice and sugar in the bottle and screw the cap on. I should retype the caption to state that it takes "30 seconds of effort" to turn the juice into alcohol. You are indeed correct though it does take a few days for the yeast to do it's job.
John Doe Hi I thought I'd answer this as I've used the caps many times with success. If you used an ordinary cap it wouldn't release the co2 creating an exploding bottle. You could unscrew the cap slightly and it would ferment but not retain the carbonation..I believe you can now buy oversize caps for 5 litre bottles but I have a hack and will upload in the next month or so.
@@kittieking6027 Hi,didn't actually because the 5 litre caps aren't that expensive. Basically you get a cap from a 5 litre bottle and bore a hole in it to accept the Pat Mack's standard caps .You then have to use food grade silicone sealant to seal any gaps. Good luck if you give it a go. Cheers. 👍🍺
I think bakers yeast is alot easier to find than brewers yeast(atleast out here) and this would make it an alternative to consider....all things considered. :)
Just leave the bottle cap half open to allow the co2 to release that the yeast produces. Don't leave the cap off or you'll end up having the homebrew go bad or it'll turn into vinegar.
You may be right, the balloon won't burst if its punctured whilst it's empty but it's not going to be able to hold enough pressure to carbonate a fermenting drink afterwards. It's also dubious how much protection from contamination a soggy flaccid balloon is going to give you whilst brewing. One final thing, in my opinion you should always use brewer's yeast when brewing. Baking yeast doesn't have the alcohol tolerance and it's flocculation and attenuation profiles are not designed for brewing.
No, boil it. It's better, and it decontaminates it. When you put it in the blender, there's bacteria there that could result in mold growing in the fermenter. Boil it for 20 minutes. Wait til it's at 80F before adding it to the bottle.
@@juansolo1617Sounds good. I've been meaning to make my own. How much yeast would you recommend for 2 litres? And what is the best yeast for strong alcohol.
@@gb5584 if you're using distillers yeast, maybe 1/4 tsp for 2 liters... and about 2 full cups of sugar. If you want the yeast to be healthier, add some honey, or half cup honey powder. The yeast will use it as food
@@gb5584 Almost forgot to mention... squirt a little bit of isopropyl into the bottle, splash it around for a few minutes with the cap on, then rinse it all out really good with water. This kills bacteria and sanitizes the bottle. Just make sure you rinse it out good.
Adding more yeast isn't really necessary because the yeast naturally multiplies itself in a positive environment i.e. if lots of sugar is available for the yeast to feast on. More yeast may simply speed up fermentation slightly but that's about it.
The blindness comes from people in China cutting their liquor with methanol to make it go farther, along with using chemicals in the fermentation process, and also distilling incorrectly. Then they sell these chemical liquors in bottles with real labels. CCP doesn't even care.

I don’t have that little cap thing can I just screw on the water bottle cap but leave it a bit lose and also can someone give me an exact amount of how much yeast like a teaspoon because my version of a little bit is like a tablespoon
Put it on loose and put a condom around it. If its working the condom will get long standing straight up.
That's not 30seconds that's 2 days! I need something now!!!
I need some more yeast where can i get some from
How to make that cap???
How many grams of yeast do you need for 0,5L?
What's the difference between your cap and a regular cap?
John Doe Hi I thought I'd answer this as I've used the caps many times with success. If you used an ordinary cap it wouldn't release the co2 creating an exploding bottle. You could unscrew the cap slightly and it would ferment but not retain the carbonation..I believe you can now buy oversize caps for 5 litre bottles but I have a hack and will upload in the next month or so.
@@cheshirehomebrew Did you ever upload the hack?
@@kittieking6027 Hi,didn't actually because the 5 litre caps aren't that expensive.
Basically you get a cap from a 5 litre bottle and bore a hole in it to accept the Pat Mack's standard caps .You then have to use food grade silicone sealant to seal any gaps. Good luck if you give it a go.
Cheers. 👍🍺
Can I use a balloon with a hole in it? Also will any yeast work? X
Why would you make a hole in the balloon?......
how to make that white closer and what yeast
I think bakers yeast is alot easier to find than brewers yeast(atleast out here) and this would make it an alternative to consider....all things considered. :)
What's a homegrown cap does that mean you just drill a hole in the cap of the bottle
Just leave the bottle cap half open to allow the co2 to release that the yeast produces.
Don't leave the cap off or you'll end up having the homebrew go bad or it'll turn into vinegar.
Can u use regular yeast
what is best temperature to keep a bottle
Room temp. Below 90 degrees.
Can you buy this product in the U.S.?
the title is very misunderstandable: it is not 30 seconds, it`s a few days
I think the word youre lookin for is 'misleading'
@@jeebun981 More like a few weeks.
How much juice was that?
How come you don't add 7ip or sprite
Screw all the haters dude! good product to make cheap hooch - Thumbs Up :)
Do you have to use a blender ?
Just us the cap it came with just unscrew it until the pressure in the bottle is relived like how Pawpaw does it
where do i get a fluffy red robe like that?
Hii i wanted to ask if this is safe cuz i’ve heard home made alcohols can cause blindness
Only distilled stuff not fermented stuff
The blindness comes from people in China cutting their liquor with methanol to make it go farther, along with using chemicals in the fermentation process, and also distilling incorrectly. Then they sell these chemical liquors in bottles with real labels. CCP doesn't even care.
