I bought my first bottle of RR 13 today and I think I paid a little too much for it. Even though I paid a little extra ive never had it and couldn't pass it up.

Buffalo Trace is msrp 26 here in Ohio. You can find it every other week, but a quick vacation to west NY and I found the 750 for 60, and litre for 99. Controlled state vs Non.
Great price for an SC store
Never pass up a Four Roses barrel strength pick, especially OESO! Some of the best picks I've had have been the lower tiers.

$85 for the Four Roses Private Select is a fantastic price! I think I paid close to $100 at the distillery, but it was a “B” so maybe that’s why? “E” is the higher corn mash bill (75%) with a slightly sweeter profile whereas the “B” is 35% rye and only 60% corn. Great store, thanks for sharing.

We all have those moments. I bought that Elijah Craig Ryder Cup bottle when I saw it sitting on a shelf. I'm a golf fan so I'm excited for the bottle. I know there juice is not worth the price but now I have a bottle to pull out during the majors next year.

@@Bourbon_Hunter Yes! Although they are single barrels and I'm a Beam homer always sipping on a KC12 or KC9 120 proofer. This won't last long on my bar. Even Jason at the Mash & Drum says the 2023 version is better than JD-12. Cheers!

That store owner seemed super knowledgeable too, I’m surprised he settled for 102 proof on that Yellowstone store pick. I highly recommend those if you can find a higher proof. My 119 hits with an almost strawberry bubblegum flavor, lol.

The letter after the number is where on the rack they sat a-z like the alphabet so 1-26. So if you get something in between from the middle they certainly get the most heat. Enjoy!! Great video and store they have some hitters here.

RR13 is a little too pricey for my taste at $300+ but I do understand the hype for it! The EHTSiB is pretty damn good, but not for over $150, because in my opinion it’s not insanely better than the EHTSB which I can usually get for $70. Great video as always!

The Four Roses sib barrel proofs are incredible. Ive bought 3 of the OESO at 107 proof and 11 y/o. Arguably my favorite bottles i own. $85 is also a great price, i paid $100 for mine. The more rye spice ones are good also. Don’t sleep on their small batch select either!

Got a Russel’s batch 5 a few weeks ago for $160. Best places to get allocated bourbon from are grocery stores because they don’t mark up the price like liquor stores do. Problem is they don’t have it on the shelf and it’s gone immediately.

the fact this store has multiple KC 18s sitting around at MSRP, multiple 4 Roses SBBPs, and so many other Tater bottles at *reasonable* markups is pretty amazing. if you see anything, even a KC 15, in my area it's either for a raffle or it's crazy markups. There is one chain that consistently drops stuff straight to shelves but it's swallowed up within a couple hours by the collectors (and probably resellers) who live nearby and check every day. I've landed a few good bottles but I'm always too late to get anything better than like ECBP/Henry McKenna level bottles. My state doesn't seem to get EHT, like ever, but luckily I actively dislike EHT Small Batch. You can find it just across the state border all day for $60-70 and if you hunt you'll find it for $45-50. You can even stumble upon EHT Straight Rye and Single Barrels (I like the rye, not so much the single barrel) for $80-100 if you are out hunting on a Friday during work hours.
State allocations are stupid. It's so nutty how much a major metro that bleeds over a state line (in two non-ABC states) can vary in selection and price. Seems like old liquor laws are slowly eroding and hopefully we start to see more normalization across states. Also, BT is actually slowly letting the flood gates loose and some of their stuff is starting to normalize. The stores that ask $70+ for EHT Small Batch in the neighboring state are starting to pile up on bottles. Was in one store the other day and they had 6 or 7 cased of EHT Small Batch while the rest of their bourbon selection was awful. Those bottles are rotting away because the market, at least in their area, has finally said "nah, 70 is too high"
Thats good I think as people become more aware that there are better bottles that are non allocated things might calm down

Knob creek single barrel barrel picks are some of my favorite for the price. $65ish for almost 10 year old bourbon at 120 proof. Goes down smooth with a nice maple syrup flavor profile

Completely agree. I’m working on my 3rd bottle of a pick up here in North Myrtle. I consider it pretty much my regular sipper because it’s great and I know I can get more (for now).
I was hesitant on that Old Ezra 7 bc not a fan of Ezra Brooks. Ended up buying it and it’s delicious man. Definitely was pleasantly surprised.

Great store picks. Just picked up my 4th EH Taylor Single Barrel and this one is a store pick. Got a EH Taylor Barrel Proof 2 weeks ago. Last week got my first Elmer T Lee for $45 and a Midwinter Night’s Dram Act 11 Scene 12. Yikes. $300 for a RR 13. I got 2 bottles of Batch 5 for $300. 🥃

Good little selection there. I live in Thomson, Ga, super small town with only 3 "liquor stores", if you can even call 1 of them that. So anything allocated is near impossible to find. My main spot can keep me in Weller S.R. for around $40 and Blantons around $115 . But that's about it. I usually stick to Elijah Craig small batch myself. It runs around $30 here.

But the best bottle in the entire store was the 4 roses LE 135th you didn't even mention just chillin on top shelf.

Hit Columbia, SC on Friday. Got a bottle of Garrison Bros The Cowboy for $225 at Total Wine. It is INCREDIBLE. Also, picked up a Knob Creek 18 for $174. Not bad at all I thought.

My first Russells 13 was 70$ from the VA ABC. Recently I paid 150$ for a second. I figured 220$ for 2 13 year old barrel proof Turkey bottles made sense. I guess I was right considering you paid more than that for one! I love being in a controlled state Cheers🥃

I love RR13. On my 2nd bottle. Got both for $110, each. Both were batch 3. And i definitely snag a 4 Roses store pick for 85. And i got a bottle of ETL and i wasnt looking when i got it. Even for MSRP that i paid, i was disappointed. Now i know why ETL added Sprite to it

I get why people might want to use their fanciest bottle for an infinity bottle but I always recommend using a bottle that comes with a rubber cork instead of a regular one. All that opening and closing over years is going to break down a normal cork.

The red wine cask BH was shockingly good... had a dry finish similar to a red wine. Worth a pour to try it but on the short list of attainable bottles to grab before to long.

Once again blown away on the tater juice prices between Devs in SC versus my state-controlled availability/pricing in Ohio. Those EHT bottles are near impossible to get here and prices at Devs are private sale level or below for Ohio. Meanwhle the shelfer BT & Weller SR prices at Devs are through the roof.

To answer your question, Old Ezra 7 year is an amazing bottle. Reminds me most batches of Barrel Bourbon. A definite buy at $80 or less. Would not pay $100 for it.

Dev Liquors is awesome! The Adictivo Tequila is hot garage so I'm thinking the bourbon may not be much better. I paid way more than MSRP as well for my Russell's Reserve 13 but like you said, can't find it here locally. And if we buy it online, we still pay high prices and pay for shipping 😢

Adicitivo whiskey is Mexican, so definitely cannot be Bourbon. It is actually a single malt whiskey aged in American Oak and finished in Adicitivo Tequila casks. 5 y/o 80 proof. Have not tried it. Reviews I've seen/read are mixed.
I paid $300 out the door for batch 2 (FOMO) as well. A month later I found Batch 3 for $130 about a year ago. I don’t regret either. It’s the reality of bourbon. I’m not happy about it. BTW, if that was Four Roses LE 2023. $350 is not bad. Very interesting store.

I've recently got on social media bourbon groups and the biggest thing is how little someone paid. Most of the time, it's because they spend lots of time looking and sometimes they get lucky. It hours of looking worth a bit more money........yes! I'll pay a bit more to not have to jump through all the hoops. The other thing that I've learned is the reason everything is so hard to get is everyone buys 5,6,7,8+ bottles. It's crazy to learn what some folks around me have.
If its super allocated i’ll always leave one for the next guy if there are multiple 🤙🏼

Nice hunt, that store had some really nice bottles. I still haven’t seen a Russell 13 in my area. Not sure what the going price is for that Four Roses LE 135th anniversary for $350 but that would be a cool bottle to have. I could have bought a Stagg Jr yesterday for $199 but not sure they are worth that without trying first.

I've never paid mark up for a bottle of bourbon. However I've only had the pleasure of drinking that Russell 13 a few times at local bar. It's maybe my favorite bourbon ever and I'm wirh you I'd have broke my principal to pick that bottle up no questions

Knob Creek is consistently going over 10 on picks again. We picked one at over 10 just the other day and all 3 options we had to choose from were over 10 years.

Just picked up the same the other day. I had a hard limit of what i wanted to pay for a bottle but saw at $270 for RR 13. Considering i hadn't seen it for less than $330, I caved. Sorry to be part of the problem😂

Hey! Welcome! Feel free to subscribe because I drop tips and hints throughout videos but pretty much October-January some of the highest allocated stuff comes out like pappy’s and stuff. But typically BT, Eagle Rare, Blantons comes in at the beginning of every month within the first week
