It was always going to happen. Staraptor was never going up so it's kinda obvious where they were going. Especially with the title of the mon that is too good to play with the rookies but not good enough to go pro/play with the pros.
Staraptor is always a powerful mon with reckless boosted stabs in Brave Bird and Double Edge. It just so happen that there are mons just as powerful without kamikazing itself through recoil.
Goodra is the first pseudo-legendary to become PU. Even getting Toxic, Scald and Knock Off couldn't save it from being the worst pseudo competitively. It's time it gets Recover
All that, and the fact its weirdly not a water or poison type? I mean why not lean more into that! It be super neat if its dragom water or poison and its new counterpart was part steel! 😅 but a lot of is indeed power creep. For anyone confused about “the fall of rain”, a few of these tier changes are due to the banning of Archaludon- the main component of an insanely busted rain strategy. In the end though Pelipper is OU forever in my heart. pelcan mouth

Like more toxic users or better yet, an ability that blocks healing moves that can be given to mons that varely get to shine otherwise! I recommend you stick to VGC this gen in particular. This gen has been terrible meta wise. No fun. First gen after years of competitive that I gave up OU shortly after the gen released. I almost exclusively play Random Battles on Showdown now. Tera is fun. This gen forced me into learning VGC. I don't own a Switch so nothing official for me. I only watch videos.
We shouldn't gas up Kingdra. Kingdra has been a mediocre Pokemon without rain for generations. Sure it has a niche in the tiers with Drizzle Pokemon but on it's own it really just sucks. It was already PU in gen 8 and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes to ZU. Edit: It's ZU lmao
Its why PC should stop adding oh Paradox Forms and UBs and stay steady with mega for FE or new evolutions for old mons. They barely did anything with UBs atleast in SM till Postgame, and then with PFs they just made their counterparts more irrelevant at times 😅

It kinda runs into the issue of people wanting Kingdra to be good rather than its evolution being good and leaving poor Kingdra in the dust. Plus, you might just run into the Mega Garchomp issue where there are smarter uses of your Mega Evolution than Mega Garchomp and you can only use one Mega Pokemon at the time so it depends if it is actually worth using over other Mega Evolutions.

Also, strong pokemon getting a mega isn't that big of a deal as long as it's well made, plenty of already strong pokemon got megas, also again this is exactly true for paradox mons. I mean, it could be medocre or not much of an improvement, but that is an argument around not designing them poorly, not an argument against megas, they could make anything poorly and it would be bad. I think people are generally happy with a pokemon they like getting a mega that brings them some more relevance, the only way to make the base pokemon good again would be an overhaul of the massive powercreep that we've had recently. I think Mega Garchomp was a very well designed mega, he wasn't better than garchomp, in most cases he was just worse, but in niche scenarios on specific teams you would prefer mega chomp, and you can choose if you want to mega or not for that game. It also is literally part of the point the original post was making, paradox pokemon replace their old versions, megas give them some new life, but because you can only have 1 mega, they aren't replaced completely.

In vgc pelipper just shot up in usage cause it counters sun, gets wide guard for groudon, cayrex and kyogre, weather ball one shots incineroar in rain, and it gets good speed control between tailwind and icywind. Also you don't need to run kyogre to optimally enable that weather either so the restricted slot can be reserved for something else.

I’ve always been a big supporter of Ribombee. It helped me get top 50 on the doubles Ubers later back in Gen 8.
