while I've never really been a fan of Fathom, Haggis's remake is absolutely gorgeous and the additions and new game mode really make this remake as good as imaginable. It'd be awesome if Haggis could someday get the rights to some Gottlieb tables and do a remake of something like Black Hole or even better Haunted House, now that's a table that if it got a remake I'd happily shell out $10k for.
I really like the idea of multiple games designed to run on the same table. Having a physical table play only one game feels like a relic of the days when the rules had to be implemented using physical parts, and there was only really room in the machine for one set. Now that the rules are implemented with a computer, and modes are so prevalent anyway, why not use the same table to offer multiple games? The relative simplicity of the games in Fathom, compared to the possibly over-complex updates to Funhouse and Whirlwind, is also appealing to me.
Every table has a specific theme, it would make zero sense for example to have Halloween and Ultraman be playable on the same machine when their themes are so different hence why they both have their own unique tables despite the layouts being almost identical.
