Looking at scorestreaks; even though the scorestreaks weren't great, I thought the concept they had with being able to customize them was something really different and cool. It had a whole new dynamic to the game, with the option of support, extra missiles etc.
One thing that I did like is how much potential you had to get extra experience. Of course there was double exp weekends, but also from supply drops and then the 5% from gear sets.
The sheer amount of gun variety was awesome, sadly I didn't have access to 95% of it because they weren't interested in playing the call of duty micro transaction slot machine mini game.
The thing I liked most that should carry out to other games is Score streak customization. It's a nice addition, but then again in some cases I rather not have it go over to any other games. On the zombies side, LOSE ONE PERK AT A TIME THE LONGER YOU'RE DOWN! Treyarch please use that feature.
I agree the score streak customization made streaks fun and enjoyable. Especially the bombing run with extra bomber and care packages (: happy time raining care packages down on my enemies.
It was a fast paced game, it discouraged (though didn't stop) camping. Every time I play I'm constantly on my toes as I go around the map and to me that adds to the thrill factor.
Just give the exo movement a power meter like in BO3 and perks to buff it if the player chooses that route. At times there will a little too much boosting but I hope they keep it. It made the gun battles so much more fun for me.
I have to agree with most of what you said for the positive aspects . Kind of wonder what people would think of this ; a separate game match in which you have the ability to pick up a fallen opponents gun & if you can survive the match without dying then the gun is now added to your inventory ( & maybe the other guy loses it ) permanently ! A high risk game not for the faint of heart .
Things I thought AW did right: - Campaign, the story was good and the replayability factor was defiantly there - Firing Range - Graphics - Zombies, everyone seems to forget they added it because the community wanted it! - Uplink, fun to play competitively and spectate - Post launch support from sledgehammer games - Sound, the audio in this game was very good These are some things I thought the game did right, I may have forgotten a couple but these are ones I could think of off the top of my head.
The first CoD I actually enjoyed play online, because the sheer fun of the movement and the fast paced gamestyles. I've played CS a lot many years ago and lost my intrest in playing FPS, because everything seemed so alike. Last time I've enjoyed FPS gaming, was when they got Quakelive out and Unreal 3 before that. I kinda liked how AW combined this "modern" rifle stuff with fast paced aerial movement. A lot of fun and made be come back to the FPS scene once again seriously... After almost 10 years or so.
I loved this iteration of the franchise. There are faults but that comes with any game. The supply drops could have used some more logic written in later in the timeline due to the newly added items. I really enjoyed the variants and the hunt for the good ones. Added a sense of achievement that other iterations were missing. It increased reply value for me.
Me personally really like AW. If you think about it can make a bad player good because of the Exo movement for gun skill that is. Take those skills to a more relaxed COD your awareness and reaction time is a lot better cause you don't have to be looking up, down, left, and right at the same time.
I agree with your positives but I haven't gotten any of those free guns and its pretty frustrating. I was thinking about a system where you can unlock variants of a gun by using it a lot. Just a thought...
Yeah, I agree Ghosts 2 that isn't rushed for next gen and has at least some of the infinity ward team who made Modern Warfare. Ghosts had potential, I liked the class creation system without pick-10 or pick-13 and a huge amount of perks that could be combined in any way, I also liked the fact that all attachments were as easy to get as each other (probably controversially). If these things came back and the bad things were fixed, and the game was "boots on the ground" and not "ieds on the ground" either it could be one of the best. However, I am not a game developer. So I am not qualified.
Every Call of Duty has a certain level of skill challenge. With the exo movement I feel as though it challenges all of us to move up to a higher challenge level. I think for BO3 we're going to be so prepared for the slower jet pack movement.
+Fancy FA Not specifically but I did cover most of my final thoughts (good and bad) about Ghosts in this video: th-cam.com/video/4jA9dFqnTC8/w-d-xo.html
before I got a ps4 I had a xbox 360 and I got advanced warfare for the 360. When I got the ps4 I got advanced warfare with it and it feels like a totally new game
Ace I agree with the one shot playlist it's one of the funnest (idek if that's a word) modes in aw. When I first got the game I played nothing but one shot for about 2 months. I was so bad I would go super negative and couldn't even get a uav but it was so much fun I kept wanting to play. That's what the game mode should feel like. Also with with Exo zombies I felt it was very well put together and many people were hypocrites bc they said they copied treyarch. ISNT THAT WHAT EVERYONE WANTED?! A GOOD ZOMBIE EXPERIENCE LIKE TREYARCH's. But zombies was way too much. The first map was well put together as was the third map. I couldn't handle the second map because of all the tunnels and not being able to get an Exo suit by round 12. Also, I didn't even bother downloading map 4 because of all the videos I saw of the weird guns and all that. But I have to agree with you on supple drops bc that's the exact same idea I had in the sense that supple drops should only be used for customization.
Full disclosure, I liked AW, definitely better than Ghosts, but I liked Ghosts to for what it was. B02 is probably still my favorite, but AW has better graphics, etc. I liked the boosting around, it's fun. Time to kill is decent, though occasionally I'll get melted by shotguns that appear to have waaay to much range. I don't mind the variants, though I can understand why some were pissed they never got the better variants. I was lucky and got virtually all of them, and I spent too much money on the ASD lottery. I would have preferred to select specific downloadable DLC weapon variants or gear instead of random luck, but that's fine. I get they don't want pay to play. But the ASD's were still fun when you got something cool. I think the DLC weapons at the end were handled poorly. The base variant should have gone to everyone like the Peacekeeper or like in Ghosts. I still don't have the 1911 pistol and probably won't get it (not buying any more drops). In my weapon stats it shows I have zero kills with it... duh, I don't own it! I wasn't wild about a bunch of the DLC maps... and I still don't like how long it takes them to get in the general rotation bc the DLc playlists piss me off because I don't like the moshpit style lobbies.Anyway... great commentary as always. I still think all the hate directed toward current or past COD games by some in the community is annoying... bunch of bitchy little girls, normally complaining because some aspect of the game makes their ego butthurt. SBMM forced you to play better players. Exo boost forced verticality... Ghosts TTK required a change in playstyle, and B02 had a ton of issues people cried about too. But then again, I hate whiners. it's my pet peeve.
advanced warfare is good because its FUN. what they did with exo movement makes the game so much more intense, and you always have a chance to win in a gun fight by dodging and jumping
I think the firing range was an awesome edition. The customization was absolutely insane which I do think they took a little too far maybe with the unrealistic character looks.. either way Advanced Warfare could be a lot more fun that it was because of things but it was still an overall good game in my opinion. I actually enjoyed it for the most part, I did also enjoy ghosts and still go back and play that game from time to time. Call me Crazy but there is a lot of things wrong with every cod and sometimes you've just got to look past the negatives and focus on the positives of the game and just have fun with it, instead of taking each game as if it is life or death... :P
I agree with all of your points except for one: even without weapon variants the gun balance would still be bad. It wouldnt be as bad as it is right now but most people woud still use the bal or asm1. when the game first came and nobody really had a lot of elite weapons like the Obsidian steed or Inferno 90% of the players used the bal because with it you could just outgun any other gun in the game at any range and I dont think it would be much different now.
+The Greatmagic There are always going to be the top tier guns that are slightly better and used more than the others but this doesn't always mean the others are nearly useless or only used to purposely put yourself at a major disadvantage. Look at BO2 for instance, the MSMC, M8A1, and AN-94, are top tier guns but I still find I can lead lobbies just as well with almost any primary and even a lot of the secondaries in that game. I feel we'd see a similar thing with base guns in AW, the BAL would still be great but I wouldn't feel useless with an SN6 in my hands. Also, the BAL and ASM1 were toned down a lot since launch so current base balancing wouldn't be representative of the base balancing when the game launched.
Getting just gear and gun skins out of supply drops would be really good I think. And the Exo isn't what ruined AW it was supply drops even though everyone still say it's the Exo they don't play it for.
The biggest thing they did right was the number of customization, and guns variations but what they did wrong with variations they shouldn't gone to the advanced supply drops
I know that a lot of people will disagree but AW competitive was so fun to watch! This fast game made the good players with good reactions stand out! Scump, Zooma, Karma and others made this game so fun to whatch!
holy shit, how many guns did they copy from Ghosts? I already saw the Ameli, the Bulldog, the ARX-160, and there's probably some others I'm missing. They can at least put in new guns, not just 50% recycled guns that's they've been doing for the past few years.
The Steed was way worse. You can replicate a speakeasy with the right variant / attachments. You can not out gun the steed when it's in the right hands
Competitive was awesome! Also, new movement system gave new players the opportunity to be better than veteran cod players. I also thought the gunfights and graphics looked/felt great.
+Thomas It shelters brand new players from the veterans so it doesn't discourage them from from continuing to play. This can be solved with a simple playlist that limited to people that are less than level 15 that has a mix of bots as well as other
This was the first call of duty I did not like. Every other one I've played for hours and I could not stop. Playing AW felt like a chore. I guess without SBMM it would have been a whole lot better. I like playing competitively every once in a while but not permanently. It was way too frustrating and becoming better was not even worthwhile. I will never come back to this game.
The best part for me at least, is that there's always something to strive for. There's always at least one variant or a new outfit that you really want. The previous CoDs really didn't have anything to strive for in the late game. BO2 for instance, you can grind out camos for your guns, but once you get gold or diamond for the guns you want, what else is there to do? BO2 may very well have superior gameplay across the board, but for me, there just isn't any reason to play now that I've done everything in that game that I've wanted to do (I still think that BO2 is better than AW, I just find AW more fun, if that makes sense?).
The good that AW did? hmm... 1 firing range 2 original customization, not the crazy stuff. Even though cod is an arcade shooter, I want to fight soldiers, not clowns 3 implementation of old nostalgic weapons. I like this, but also hate it because I need to get lucky to get them 4 exos they were a good change of pace, that should come back once every three years so people don't get burnt from playing boots on the ground every year. 5 m1 irons It's nice to have something free in cod.
+A Pakistani Gamer I like Ghosts and I don't intend to "bash" it, I just feel there are a lot of lessons that can be learned from what Ghosts did poorly.
+TheXclusiveAce Ghosts implemented the slide... Its been in every cod since... am I the only one that noticed this? Not a huge gameplay element... But its been implemented into AW and BO3 :D
I disagree with two points in this video. The first one where you said that this game wasn't particular melty excluding the insanity, inferno and speakeasy. Unfortunately in my experience I have found too be melted by the normal variants like the ASM1. What I mean is that I have experienced often where I'm shooting a guy to where I've got my 3 shots on target with for example my AK12. This guy has got an ASM1 and all I see is just one bullet hitting me and I'm insta dead. Not fun. My second disagreement was the fact that the DLC was truly woeful. The maps looked ugly and bland, horrible map lanes and awful map streaks aka the swarm. I mean to pay £15-£20 for DLC I expect it to be very good. It was so bad this year that I'm not gonna be purchasing anymore DLC from any other COD franchises. It's just simply not worth it. One point which I think you might of missed upon was the fact that SH had tried something new. This too me is a good thing because who wants to play the same game year after year without things being different apart from the maps and guns. For example with the Exo's. Yes granted they got annoying by us abusing them but look at Treyarch changing the way to use them in BO3 where they are limited in terms of the usage. Apart from my three points I thought the video was spot on :). Was a tad surprised to see the video longer than 5 minutes on what SH did right ;)
ace, beeing contructive i believe that your daily content is getting monotonous, just challenges. you could try to look for higher gameplays or sth. however the breakdown and your tips n drills are amazing. I way cause i,ve been sub since 10k and your content is quite still
+MCANDREUSA98 (MAKA) It's that time of the year where CoD content isn't going to be the greatest. Giving tips for AW at this stage in its life cycle is not a good use of my time since they are very time consuming and interest in them are at an all time low. As bad as it may sound, I'm not going to spend 8-12 hours making a tip video for AW that gets the same amount (or even less) views/likes than a live commentary that takes less than an hour to make. Once BO3 launches, everything will change and it will be almost nothing but tip videos for a few months. I can understand if you'd like to take a break from my channel if you aren't enjoying the content. I just hope you'll return when BO3 launches because I'll be back to the videos that you want to see from me.
you talked about the younger audience. Isn't AW for 18 and above, Ace? I know that everybody disagrees with that but actually the youngest people to play Cod have to be 18+. But I'm 14 and I play cod myself and many others do so too so actually cod could be for 12 and above :P
ItsJustin TheGame Okay didn't know that. I'm from Europe and tjere it's only 18+ (FSK 18). Wie don't have something like "M", at least I don't know about it.
+Dieter Derschwanz I think COD games mostly earn their 18+ for the campaign mode. I don't know the exact standards, but I could see the online multi being rated in the lower teen range. Although it looks like Black Ops 3 will have a good deal of gore in multi.
Why do you need to bash Ghosts so much with their Low TTK? Does IW really need to apologize for fixing the net code and hit detection? Treyarch and Sledgehammer were incompetent and gave us games that had horrible hit detection and awful netcode. So many people (not saying you) are like: Oh noooo!!! Ghosts has a low TTK and I can't rush around like an idiot anymore :'(
+xerxes46 Like I said in a previous comment: I like Ghosts and I don't intend to "bash" it, I just feel there are a lot of lessons that can be learned from what Ghosts did poorly. Fast TTK is something I feel they did poorly. Yes, the hit detection was great but I feel it should've been compensated for to increase* the TTK because fast TTK encourages and rewards hiding and reduces the skill gap considerably.
+TheXclusiveAce High TTK makes it more important to have good aim and gun skill. Low TTK makes it more important to have better awareness and route running The skill gap can be applicable to either point on the spectrum
+TheXclusiveAce All Ghosts had to do was to buff Assault and Specialist a little. Edit some maps. Adjust a few perks and the cost for them. Get rid of the Ghillie suit. Make the thermal and tracker sight not have a red dot or iron sight option. And maybe brighten the color palette a little.
+Tear JubaSniper I'll hate to see you go. You're right, SBMM has been in most CoDs to a certain extent, but not nearly as noticeable or as exploitable as in AW (aside from perhaps the beginning of BO2 before they toned it down considerably).
the firing range was a nice addition.
It was quite nice Indeed.
campaign was pretty good.
I like ur dp
The ending was shit.
I_THE_ME better than ghosts
I thought the campaign was one of the best ever indeed!
The heavy shield + exo-shield combo was awesome in this game!
The sheer amount of gun variety was awesome, sadly I didn't have access to 95% of it because they weren't interested in playing the call of duty micro transaction slot machine mini game.
Good point actually about One Shot. That was a fantastic idea. I dropped like 72 kills in that one time
The thing I liked most that should carry out to other games is Score streak customization.
Especially the bombing run with extra bomber and care packages (: happy time raining care packages down on my enemies.
i knew i wasn't the only one who liked AW
It was a fast paced game, it discouraged (though didn't stop) camping. Every time I play I'm constantly on my toes as I go around the map and to me that adds to the thrill factor.

I love the elite, professional guns. Exo suit was fun, all experience points in domination, challenges, ect
Movement system
Pacing
Speed of killing
Hit detection
Base weapon balance
Maps
Variants (to a degree)
WEAPON BALANCE!!!!????
Things I thought AW did right:
- Campaign, the story was good and the replayability factor was defiantly there
- Firing Range
- Graphics
- Zombies, everyone seems to forget they added it because the community wanted it!
- Uplink, fun to play competitively and spectate
- Post launch support from sledgehammer games
- Sound, the audio in this game was very good
These are some things I thought the game did right, I may have forgotten a couple but these are ones I could think of off the top of my head.

#1 positive I give to SHG is that they paid ALOT of attention to what the community wanted! Also almost all the things you mentioned :)
the HC mode actually worked really well - played most of my time on it :) they didn't bring HC mode but it worked
I agree with your positives but I haven't gotten any of those free guns and its pretty frustrating. I was thinking about a system where you can unlock variants of a gun by using it a lot. Just a thought...
I liked how you can customize your scorestreaks for a trade for requirement of more points.
We need a sequel!
would you rather a Capitain price collection ,a New Cod Title,a Call of Duty modern warfare 4 or a ghosts 2 choose only one. and why ????
+AMINO the king A Ghosts sequel with a different name and a lot of changes to multiplayer.
I would like to see a cod 4 for next gen

Have you done a video like this for Ghost? Cuz I'd love to see that.
+Fancy FA Not specifically but I did cover most of my final thoughts (good and bad) about Ghosts in this video: th-cam.com/video/4jA9dFqnTC8/w-d-xo.html

Cant wait for Arena Play

hey Ace have you ever been in Greece ?
+Panos Sid Not yet but I will go one day
+Panos Sid
It's an amazingly beautiful place.

I like how this video is shorter than the one saying what aw did wrong
honestly I love opening supply drops that's proboly why I keep playing advanced warfare

Campaign was WAY better than Ghosts
+5% exp bonus for default gear sets
Lots of dedicated servers on next gen
only positive I can think of for Aw is that it's cycle is nearly over, it didn't feel like a Cod to me. Bring on Black ops 3 baby.
So you don't think there are any positives to SBMM?
+Thomas It shelters brand new players from the veterans so it doesn't discourage them from from continuing to play. This can be solved with a simple playlist that limited to people that are less than level 15 that has a mix of bots as well as other
I can't see one positive thing in AW maybe the idea of upgradeable streaks..other than that its an unfinished unbalanced untested product
Why is no one talking about the gun range?! I feel like no one appreciates it as much as it should be
This was the first call of duty I did not like. Every other one I've played for hours and I could not stop. Playing AW felt like a chore. I guess without SBMM it would have been a whole lot better. I think supply drops were good, because everyone had access on them. On the other hand, advanced supply drops ruined the game.
it became a pay to win when it came to advanced supply drops
score streak customization
I loved exo stomping :)
The good that AW did? hmm...
1 firing range
2 original customization, not the crazy stuff. Even though cod is an arcade shooter, I want to fight soldiers, not clowns
3 implementation of old nostalgic weapons. I like this, but also hate it because I need to get lucky to get them
4 exos they were a good change of pace, that should come back once every three years so people don't get burnt from playing boots on the ground every year.
5 m1 irons It's nice to have something free in cod.
Why bash Ghosts everytime?
+A Pakistani Gamer I like Ghosts and I don't intend to "bash" it, I just feel there are a lot of lessons that can be learned from what Ghosts did poorly.
TheXclusiveAce Fair enough. Bad judgment on my part.
+A Pakistani Gamer DUHHH!!!
+TheXclusiveAce Ghosts implemented the slide... Its been in every cod since... am I the only one that noticed this? Not a huge gameplay element... But its been implemented into AW and BO3 :D
true
The RW1 was the best! I wish it was in BO3 ;(
zacx it’s called the annihilator
You kinda sound sick Ace. You feeling ok?
+XclusiveDriftmartn-A Just been on the verge of losing my voice for a few days. I'm trying to take it easy and rest it up. Nice name BTW lol
TheXclusiveAce Hope your voice get better!
Thanks about the name. Just my fav CoD YT guys squished together. XD
Was a tad surprised to see the video longer than 5 minutes on what SH did right ;)
but in aw when i push out i got shot in the back and melted instantly
You are just bad then
+10TimesOver yeah i gues so. i gues you have eyes in the back your head and don't get killed as you spawn:
+Jredizzle1 be faster
ace, beeing contructive i believe that your daily content is getting monotonous, just challenges. you could try to look for higher gameplays or sth. however the breakdown and your tips n drills are amazing.
I know what you mean, but i watch them all anyways
In cs go chroma cases are just one of many tipes of cases :)
+Américo Tavares good to know!
What I like
New thing
EXO and the things that u can get
The first came to bring EXO
the spike drone return thing
And everthing that you say
you talked about the younger audience. Isn't AW for 18 and above, Ace?
I know that everybody disagrees with that but actually the youngest people to play Cod have to be 18+. But I'm 14 and I play cod myself and many others do so too so actually cod could be for 12 and above :P
its rated M which is 17+, rating AO is 18+ and you have to show ID to buy it. just clarifying, dont think im hating on you
ItsJustin TheGame Okay didn't know that.
Ghosts has a low TTK and I can't rush around like an idiot anymore :'(
+xerxes46 Like I said in a previous comment:
I like Ghosts and I don't intend to "bash" it, I just feel there are a lot of lessons that can be learned from what Ghosts did poorly.
Low TTK makes it more important to have better awareness and route running
The skill gap can be applicable to either point on the spectrum
+TheXclusiveAce All Ghosts had to do was to buff Assault and Specialist a little. Edit some maps. Adjust a few perks and the cost for them. Get rid of the Ghillie suit. Make the thermal and tracker sight not have a red dot or iron sight option. And maybe brighten the color palette a little.
I can't even watch AW gameplay, just makes me motion sick
Not enough to be playable.
I.swear if SBMM is in the.negative video... I'm unsubbing because SBMM is in every COD
+Tear JubaSniper I'll hate to see you go. You're right, SBMM has been in most CoDs to a certain extent, but not nearly as noticeable or as exploitable as in AW (aside from perhaps the beginning of BO2 before they toned it down considerably).
TheXclusiveAce GG u got me
this game is fun but it is not a competitive game.
hope i win...
kremlin is probably the worst map in cod history
+nerve808 i agree totally
na they got it wrong exo movements need to be banned stick to boots to the ground traditional old style reward good players
*what Advanced Warfare did right* nothing.....
What they did right was copy halo
Advanced warfare was a meh cod
