Yet, Sid and Shanky woke up early and visited two of the most legendary joints in Mumbai, India, for a taste of Authentic Maharashtrian breakfast; Vinay Health Home in Charni Road and Prakash Shakahari Upahaar Kendra in Dadar. Watch their tryst with 'vegetarian food' (thankfully it wasn't a dealbreaker), revelations of a different kind and a breakfast experience unlike what most people around the world are known to have.

I remember we used buy bada from Vinay and buy Pav from a store near buy cause Vinay charged 1 rupee for a lab and it cost 0.50 rupees in the store.

I binged watch your whole blr series.. and now this alcohol series u have about blr.. just came to blr from Mumbai.. glad u guys took vinay health home.. it's a fucking.. it's my mom's fav place my dad used come here in his childhood days as a vacation in his mama's home and now I am also hooked and will take my children when I make them.. pro tip: next time go for Sabudana wada in VHH with extra potato chutney and make that misal a dahi missal.. it gonna add a whole new dimension to already complex dish

Actually Maharashtrian food isn't influenced by Konkani or Goan Cuisine it's the other way around because for most of history Maharashtra was culturally influenced most by people from Pune and other mountainous regions of the Sahyadri. The coasts gained importance much later. Also the sweetness in food is a result of Maharashtrian Bramhin (traditionally vegetarian population) influence not Gujrati neighborhood. But it is True that Gujrati and Maharashtrian Vegetarians have quite a similar taste palette.

Mumbai has its own set of touch. The South Indian Masala Dosa, sambhar and sometimes even chutney is very watery and sweet. It's a South Indian cum Gujarati Dish 😂😂😂

Hello Sid and Shanky Sir, in the video the Puneri Misal has various versions here. Some use poha or potato, some dont use anything additional than sprouts. In Pune there a major Misal places, Nisarg Misal No.1, Bedekar Misal, Katakirr Misal and so on. Then there is Kolhapuri Misal, Nagar Misal (Mumbai to Shirdi Road), Nashik Misal and so on. Misal Pav is kind of big staple of common, after Vada Pav, as it is more like a lunch more than a breakfast. Just sharing my 2 cents, keep forking!

Try Non-Vegetarian Maharashtrian food- Kombdi Wade, Mutton Wade, Ghavne, Solkadi, Surmai Fry, Bombil, Jinga, Sukat. Vegetarian food is nowhere close to these dishes.

We'll try to do it someday when the roads are rolling again after the pandemic!
Ram ashray and cafe madras will be very difficult for me to choose between... One has the best filter coffee (madras) while I prefer the sambhar in the other, one has great dosas while the other does the idli really well... But having said that both have a slight Udupi touch to their way of cooking and neither have the proper chota ulli (onions) and the right amount of tamarind squeezed into the sambhar... A very close combatant here is dakshinayan in juhu... Its soul food with nostalgia.. :)
