Rap songs are here today gone tomorrow. These so called artists make these songs in a day or less. They have no replay value Half the time and it's gotten worse over the years. Music used to take awhile to create with real instruments not this throw a bunch of words together and say the same shit the last 50 rappers have already said.
@@captjohnson5452 I'm gonna make a rap song about this
The Irony
Always been down with some Face muzik
But man…. The irony in his ridiculous statement
They should do music like they do movies. Movies play in theaters first and then they go to streaming platforms. Y’all should sell your music at whole price then put it on streaming platforms a few months later.
Been thinking the same thing bro! But I won't be putting on streaming lol I wanna put on TH-cam membership page and my website that's all
I feel like people would do what they do to knx which is buy then upload and rake in the streams, unless they upload it to streaming and set the date but that might be too much faith in the dsps
Wow!!!! This could work for my new book too.
Yup that's how I'm doing my new album.
Best idea I've ever heard in my life!
Back in 2006. I was making money selling $15.00 CDs and $10.00 cassette tapes. I never liked streaming.
Same
Do you feel artist had a better chance before streaming
@@hollywoodseanhendrix no
@kvngseanhendrix ofc u . It's all on you. If your a good sales man u sell more
The same for me.
Face knows!! Rap A lot was making millions indie in the 90's....they know streaming is a scam. Physical product will always reign supreme!
Got them CDs for 5 bucks Columbus Ohio ......Mixtapes still sell CDs and USB drives
Could still sell digital. Doesn’t have to be physical.
@@who_is_dis are u sellin digital? are u sellin any music at all? of course we can still sell digital, who doesn't already know that? but show us exactly what ur talkin about, letz see ur numbers...
Facts
Streaming done wrong is like a a games console with no disks but allowing you to download for free or from someone else platform.
That part! They are even trying to control all aspects of content creation and social media. We can’t say anything remotely truthful without being censored, demonetized, removed, tethered, labeled a conspiracy theorist, labeled crazy, amongst a whole slew of weird things. There used to be a time where we were allowed to express ourselves. It’s wild.
Scarface makes a great point. I used to listen to music in the car from CDs 💿 now they changed everything to how I can listen to music. Everything is streaming. CD players have disappeared from the car.
But you can still get a CD player installed in your car
and how is having a cd player in a modern car going to make a car company money ?
Do you still use a house phone and VCR?
@@MichaelEllegard-dz1yd I still use an Obama phone 📞
"Have a Exit Plan" and that's with everything.. Life is hard out here. Nothing is easy. It's alway trials and tribulations but got to "Keep Grinding and Shining" through it all..
You know how this is bigger then all of us and they had this in the plans because they removed the CD player and the tape player from the vehicles we drive to prevent you from purchasing a CD or tape so the only choice you have is to stream they could've integrated those in the vehicles in hidden compartments or something they all investors of each other they work together.
I think the car not having players is more of an unintended consequence. The real issue are those who distribute CDs, and the various platforms that you can stream and download for free. It’s multiple industries, taking a piece of the pie now with very little oversight and controlling of the finances.
I'll forever have a cd player in my car
it's just greed.
Going digital is far more convenient for consumers, as I remember having to take that 50CD case in the car so I'd have access to a variety of jams. Skimming through the case, switching in and out, risking scratches & theft, folks wanting to borrow one lol
@@kewan2045 no they did it on purpose the rich want to stay rich the will do anything. You cannot monitor streaming you have to trust companies. Companies that make money of your product free money that's distributed to all the elites.
….what? 100% of cars have CD players lol.
Salute to scarface .... just made me SMILE
I caught the reference
saw what u did there
I respect everything Scarface says about the biz.
I made my first (and only demo) in 1987 with the producers of Queen Latifah's people. I felt that the industry was going to chew me up and spit me out so--I quit. So I always kept an eye on the industry. It's never been worse, and the acts have never been more phony. So be honest, they've been bad for decades now.
Hi man! Can we listen to it or find it maybe? I love Mark 45 King. Also Lakim Shabazz
my father also had a deal around that time with easy street records
It's an alien base system that they created which is for the enrichment of them not the original beings of this realm!
S/O The 45 👑 King!
💯 there’s a new industry coming up bro that wants music like your album bro . People want real authentic & and vintage music 🔥🔥🔥✊🏾🖤
That Device is the record store but they act like it's not. You could not get a hard Copy album from a actual record store for a Penny. Imagine being able to walk out of a record store with 12 full album hard copies in your bag for less than a dollar. That's the equivalent to streaming royalties today. It's so obvious what's going down.
Idealism on both sides is the mistake. Use major streaming for bookmark placeholder visibility in catalogs like Spotify but hustle on your own website and direct sales with merch and physical drops, concerts, etc. Nice video!
Facts, this is the way. Real fans will show some support. The technology is not going away learn to evolve with it and profit instead of fighting it because its a losing battle.
That’s how it should be done, sell collector prints of records or a cd. Sell merch, tour. Diversify your income streams
Or you can stick to youtube and direct sales. Both pay much better.
Direct to the consumer is the only way to go. We really need to start pushing this to the forefront again. "Don't stream my music....buy my music" !!!!!!!
We need both.... I don't think most of us can rely totally on having a bunch of cds laying around... cds however need to be UP to PAR with streaming services as far as listeners listening to new music.
@@ScottBradley-gn2rd not cds...I'm selling my digital album foreal. Amazon is giving me the best payout. I'm sending traffic to buy my album from Amazon. I agree we need both. But I'm pushing buy my album. If they rock with the artist support and buy the digital album.
@@junie502facts love this comment
Spotify from my understanding is not a place where people have legit people playing yo ur music. Their songs get added to a playlist and their plays go up. Spotify wants to remove these accounts and bots. I see TH-cam being the only source to get people to go and listen to music.
I agree with this, but be real. Who’s gonna buy our music if EVERYONE listens on those streaming platforms. I’ve asked people and they like why would I buy CDs when I have access to everyone
imagine if every painter had go through a giant corporation to sell prints of their paintings and some dude with a business degree who never doodled in his life decided prints are only worth $0.003 on this planet. imagine if you needed to sell a million tee shirts to make a grand. and everyones like shit i guess so.
That's just it though. You don't have to sell at all because the music is free. Selling 1000 singles on iTunes to make 700 dollars was just as hard for a not well known artist as getting 200000 people to listen fof free
@RobertJeffers-ms6uz you're missing the point. Would you rather make ten dollars and get to keep all of it or make a grand and get to keep 10 dollars of it? Sure it's the same payout but it's about the principle. You getting bent over and you're saying thank you sir.
Hell a lot of folks need to have your own website regardless with the way social media like to move the goal post wit their rules. You don't have to be complex about your startup site, make a simple one then build it up over time. That is exactly how I'm going about it.
We need to link bro
Ur 100 correct,I got a strike against my instagram because I reposted something on my instagram story which they say wasn’t true, all I did was repost it to my story,i wasn’t even the one who uploaded said post smh they wouldn’t even allow me to delete it from my story they just wanted to find a reason to strike my account…social media is a joke!
@@jpair205 ask away what you need help with and I'll do my best to assist.
@@NeeseeEl It truly is and as I wind down that last few classes in my degree I am making time to take back control from this weird ass space. I'm watching folks really watch their mouth, jokes are getting watered down, everyone looking the same, etc. As someone who grew up watching the dystopian movies where this time period looks like those films, it trips me out. I am glad I am very tech savvy to not have to depend on social media to make it and I can speak to people in person just as well so I'm good. If yall need tools on simple website building tech, check out w3 schools, download a software called VS Code and start teaching yourself how to code ;)
Gotta go back to CD's.😎
I miss Tapes and Cd's , just for the fact you may have a song or album nobody had heard before. So that made it special to have, now anybody can search a song for free without having to purchase it and know nothing about the artist.
We should only use them for dropping singles, EPs or Mixtapes. Use them like an advertising platform and releasing “samples”. They shouldn’t get the full releases.
Damn you got me thinking bout pulling my music .. I got screenshots of 12 million streams for about $400 🤯
12M streams should be worth $39,600. Did you have a record label stealing your earnings?

I’m a software engineer and I’m passionate not only about the craft, but about music and as such I have compassion for the artists that have to deal with these crooked streaming platforms.
I have a solution to this problem you speak of. I wrote the business plan during my time in Colombia and began writing the architecture document. I put a short pause on the project due to the red tape I have to get through since I started a new role as software developer beginning of this year. I look forward to resuming this project because I wrote the business plan to allow for everyone to profit.
Sounds like don’t believe in your concept enough. If you were 100% sure it would work then getting a job would be a bad decision. Having a job stops the idea from being released. All you need is funding/venture capital. Then you can pay yourself, and you wouldn’t need to work for anyone else. The longer you take working for someone else, the greater the chance that someone else will develop a similar idea to yours and you’ll be assed out. Don’t waste time. You don’t have forever to release a great idea. And make sure you patent and trademark your concept asap.
@@Fashionhustler Hey, I really appreciate you taking your time to share your thoughts with me. I really do wholeheartedly believe in my concept/idea and if I had enough money saved I would totally not work for anyone else and just focus on bringing the idea to life and sharing it with the world.
It's actually my dream to do this. I've tried the whole venture capital/third party funding route, but it's treacherous as a young black male. I am in fear that my idea could be taken from me and utilized by the same organizations that I'm putting my trust in.
Furthermore, let's say I were to get funding and I end up completing the project, deploying it to production for the world to consume and then it takes off. The potential problem that could occur is that the shareholders may want me to do things with the app that aren't in the best interest of the target audience and we would find ourselves back at square one with the whole corporate greed situation. I want to maintain as much control over the decisions made as possible.
I really want to take the independent route--where I fund the project myself. I make pretty good money and can accomplish this. It's been done before. The owner of telegram created telegram with his brother and released it without any outside funding. I know I can accomplish the same. He didn't even spend any money on advertising/promotion and telegram is wildly successful. The founder had the same interests as I do. Not giving in to government and corporate interests.
All I really need to do is put in a request for outside employment to my manager and department director. Once it gets approved I can then resume work on the project.
Filing a trademark is easy. But most importantly you’ll need a patent. That will protect your concept from anyone stealing it. Including investors. You can TH-cam the patent process. Neither one is too costly. But they do take about a year to fully register. So get on that as soon as possible. Also, look into super voting shares. When you incorporate your business you’ll need super voting shares so that the investors can’t fire you or overrule your vision for the brand.
I’m Puerto Rican from the hood.
I’ve done all my businesses on my own. And I’ve designed for major corporations since 1998. It’s very difficult and very time consuming to fund your vision with your own money. But, my new business will require funding. So it’s imperative that I protect it as much as possible. Because I already had to sue adidas, and I’m currently suing JayZ Roc Nation. Don’t let fear stop you. The world needs your ideas.
@@Fashionhustler how much did it cost for u to sue adidas & roc nation?
@@GriffinPoole It costs $400 to file a suit, in the southern district of NY. That’s it. I have no law firm representing me. The technical term is called a Pro Se plaintiff.
True, when i got a chance to work with ysl, you learn that everything is controlled and its not the right place for spiritual people. The people rely on other people to see if they like something. When you see all of it, it rea;;y wakes you up.
in the early 2000s I made more money selling my mixtape on Times Square then I did on streaming smh
I have had that same or similar experience, seems like I was able to eat off of physicals hand to hand sales much better than sending links and posting my shit on the webby webs, plus the cheese off of shows, merch, ect was extra cool I enjoyed the daily grind then much more too, it was hard at times but the human to human connections made in the 3rd dimension made the whole thing worth pursuing There were always gate keepers but wasnt sooo monolithic. great topic
@@jakd2840 respect ,ima start going around nyc with a speaker and a mic and rap off my own music
Thank you for this. I'm making proper decisions to ensure my music goes to the people who want it.
You ain't never lied. We had to redo artwork because it woudln't pass the DSPs. Luckily for us, we build in extra time just in case. But, things like that will change the entire vibe of a release because the artwork needs to be changed. We've learned a lot by being indie for 22 years!
Bruh I literally cancelled my Spotify account because of your channel. You definitely made me think about this streaming shit totally different. As a former artist and a father of a son who is following in my footsteps I'm showing him a different way. D2C. Keep educating and motivating. And you got a new supporter. Your music is 🔥🔥🔥
"You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete." - Buckminster Fuller
Artists dont need majors anymore, they dont need corporate owners, handlers or distribution channels..the power dynamic has shifted and all of those middlemen are obsolete..their power is in convincing you that they're needed, but they now only get involved at the point where you've proved you could do it without them.
I hear you my guy and you are really out here for the people and I respect it.... I must find a better way to get around this system... I appreciate you.
Hopefully we all go back to buying vinyl, cassettes and CD's Because it's nothing like buying vinyl and going home to play it!...I miss those days!

Good info bro. Ty
Man y'all now just hearing this from face he been saying this for years before streaming hit he been said this back in the mid 2000's
I only consume music on vinyl records and have never streamed or downloaded any music. I haven’t found many modern artist who’s music I’d consider taking a trip to the record store for, if the music isn’t good enough to make me want to commit to having to get up and flip it to the B side it’s not worth listening to. There are many of us that will support true artistry with our dollars if given a product we want and labels dumb down the art
Curtiss you are inspirational man and your channel is very informative. You make me want to pick up the pen and mic again 💯

CKing you been on your grind... thks! Keep up the good work... oh.. the Playlist movie that you talked about was a big eye opener on how the streaming aka "Spot-o-my" think...$$$
I e been saying this for years. I did a song for a well know artist and looked at the stream earnings and I was floored. Streaming platforms rob us. If you cut them out of the picture(s), the artist can actually see more income. Stop the corporate takeover. ALL rappers/emcees should remove their works from streaming platforms. And hit them with the ticket if they want to license it! And you shouldn’t have to have 100 songs in their pipelines to make money.
The “Home Movies” packaging is real slick bro. I have an idea for a themed album release, but I don’t know where to go for something that’s not standard. All I’m seeing is the cd duplication services, with generic packaging.
Someone has probably said this before but Streaming is the new labels. If artist do what you and others have done and take their music off or not really make streaming a priority you labeled as Noah until it starts raining. Thx for posting this stuff ma boi.

Straight up
I've had physical copies up for sale a while, but they don't move online like they do at the local store. Buying digital is strange as they can take it away whenever.
still boils down to us running after their platform instead finally creating and "supporting" one of our own lets stop totally "looking out" like there's no inner problem
"I been eatin' for awhile, not a shirt with a stain," 💪💪
Curtis big up! Love the content. Firstly, The Joe Rogan thing was a marketing spend in an attempt to bring a different type of listener to the Spotify Platform, so it is an unfair point of comparison. Secondly, Spotify needs to make money because it is a profit seeking business. If we want an artist friendly platform, then we almost need someone to create a platform for artists by artists, that does not aim to be profitable, but rather self sustainable. Like a charity or government org. The question is however, who would run this? And also who would actually work there?
10:11 🔥🔥🔥fuego
As an artist that releases my music to Spotify, Apple Music etc. through the use of Tunecore, I don't even know how

It’s crazy because Ryan Leslie spoke about this too. How do we make money from this music?
Your track was volcanic bro.
7:19 why didn’t artists unionize like everyone else did recently? As long as they can pay less for the POWER we have over the masses, they will. This is THEEE fight✊🏿✨✨✨
What equipment do you use for your podcast!! Dope visuals and audio💯💯
Where can you go to get your cd's made on demand?
With the right people you can build out a cloud platform and have a custom application built for you, to either stream your music. Have to remember, years ago this would have been hard to do, nowadays not so hard to do as Microsoft, Aws, Google cloud have made it easy to upstart. Why distributors are still going to spotify and these other services is beyond me. The services themselves have automated much of the processes and reaping the most out of it.

Not Gonna Lie, I Loved The Idea Of Being On Spotify & Apple Music At First. Just The Overall Look That It Gives You In The Eyes Of Casual Fans.
HOWEVER, Recently… That Shit Has Been Ass. Especially To Those Who Have Been On These Platforms For Years, There’s Nothing Really That Is In Our Benefit. And As Time Goes On, It Seems Like They Want To Take Even More Rights Away From Us. They Can Take Down Your Work Whenever They Feel Like It.
It Would Be Better To Pay For Your Own Website & Send All Your Traffic To One Place As An Independent Artist.
