  • The ‘Introduction to World Heritage Site Archives Management in South-East Asia’ workshop was organized by the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok as part of a UNESCO/Japanese Funds-In-Trust project titled ‘Safeguarding World Heritage Archives in South-East Asia’. It was designed specifically for South-East Asian UNESCO World Heritage site managers, archiving experts, and archivists from national archiving agencies.
The workshop took place across two half-day sessions and include a series of lectures and interactive exercises. Participants focused on real case studies from World Heritage Sites in Cambodia, Indonesia, and Thailand: the Koh Ker Archaeological Site of Ancient Lingapura or Chok Gargyar, the Borobudur Temple Compounds, and the Historic City of Ayutthaya.
The participants also learned directly from experts who contributed to the Getty Conservation Institute, UNESCO Memory of the World Committee for the Asia-Pacific (MOWCAP), International Council of Archives (ICA) and Caravane Earth.
