I wish River did somthing with more pazazz instead of trying to compete with Colaps. Colaps is a techinical genius.... You should have a catchy beat with a known song too beat him to make the audience forget how great Colapse is casue ur beat is so nasalgic. River is very good tho. no doubt
It’s more of change of feel than time signature or tempo changes. The most common time signature changes they do however, is a hemiola or more simply a half time feel. If they do a drastic tempo change (like a Scherzo) they usually call out “Switch” and go right into it without transition. Just some interesting nerdy music things.
I'd really would like to see you reacting to something that's a bit more musical or voice oriented type of beatboxing like stitch and his polyphonic singing! I think you'll appreciate it and give us some deep thoughts into it!

Is it just me or is Colaps a little less concerned about keeping time and more concerned about trying to produce a wider range of sounds than his opponent? It's a strategy for sure, but he always loses me with it. I guess I'm more of a sucker for the vibe than the technique. If he could produce all of his really cool sounds without falling off the previous beat I think I would feel him more. Nothing pulls you out of it more than having to re-time the head nod every 20 seconds. He's still super dope and deserves his championship win for sure, but I think I felt River a bit more on this.
The rhythm’s he uses are very complex. Everything is off time in an on time way if that makes sense. It’s all intentional and is a flex of knowledge in music theory and placements and time signatures and polyrhythms and all that crazy stuff
I don't really know all that much about Music theory, All I can really attest to is what I've learned growing up playing music and what feels right in the moment. I get what you are trying to say and where you're trying to say it. And yeah, you would be right. That being said, he struggles with keeping his timing and has talked about that and so have other professional beatboxers. I mean, Polyrhythms and experimenting with different flow signatures and dynamics is cool. He is an absolute beast when you talk about those things and that's one of the many things that makes Colaps one of the best beatboxers in the world. However, if you lose your audience in the transition between your prepared bars it means (and only means) that you still have plenty left to improve upon. Since this battle, he's proved he's willing to do that work by getting MUCH better with his timing and breath control. With all of this being said, Colaps is one of my personal favorites and I look forward to his growth as a beat boxer.
