  • I have built another custom rally stage on Forza Horizon 5 that tackles both some fast dirt roads, and a muddy bog area. It's a good challenge to see how custom car builds work.

    You should do some of those tournaments you were doing in FH4, with suvs, or old cars or whatever, 2 at a time, 3 at a time, 4 at a time, and get a winner at the end by elimination

  • @Arleneim
    @Arleneim 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Off-road race tires often meant to carry heavy weight so they come with minimum psi out of the box. If you tune them up a bit you tend to cut seconds off from your racing time. I'm sure you already knew this but low psi seems unfair for the Subaru. Enough rambling from me, thanks for the cool video.

    Yea, the PI system is pretty awful in Horizon 5 but that extra 11 PI of the Metro is going to be hard to beat. That was a far cleaner run in that Impreza than the Metro and you were still half a second down AFTER track knowledge increase too. Would probably take a rivals car like the Gt40 or Boneshaker to beat that S class PI advantage.

      They shifted S class way too high in one game. a slow roll forward usually works, but its noticeably problematic here. Where theres a lot of cars that struggle to even get to the top of S class with max upgrades. I think they shifted it so far forward because of the overall increase in the top speed barrier. But I think they should just bring back S3 class rather than shifting more cars out of appropriate PI limits within a class.

    • @TastyMackerel
      @TastyMackerel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What's worse is how there are many cars that start in S1 but actually struggle to get to top of S1 or cannot at all. S class is pretty broken in FH5.

    • @AlexWithington
      @AlexWithington 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok ill explain for the couple of people that asked what they did with s1 and i think they also did it to a lesser extent with a class is extend the classes out allowing for more cars to fit in also meaning that it is harder for a car to jump from s2 to x just because of the domino effect if you catch my shit drift

    My only gripe with this game, and most racing games, is that you throw your car on dirt road or even off-road, and the ground feels smoother than the smoother asphalt road.
    Meanwhile in real life... if I don't slow down my car over bumpy roads..... I feel like I'm in a blender.

  • @babybobert

    I personally had to discipline myself to not downshift too much in any turn greater than a 5-6 when braking is harder than usual. As the front will want to grip, to keep the rear in check is to let that current gear run "tall" if that makes sense. So when you ease on the throttle it doesn't auto brake lose, provides a smoother line especially overtaking in a turn

    I am currently working on a 8 stage per season Four seasons per championship and etc. rally championship.
    The rules are
    1 A class anything
    2 no drivetrain swap no engine swap
    3 Roll cage required
    I also think I know how I can add rally pace notes. all races will be A to B, My first “test” track took me three hours and I had skipped a lot of parts of the track. I would also recommend to build festival structures and barriers before driving the racing line.
    Sorry for any grammar mistakes.

    I didn't catch the reasoning for not tuning the Subie. Playing with the gearing would have filled the gap, and probably beaten the MG with a a little more refinement overall in the diff and suspension. Nice track though and with slightly wider checkpoints, this could make a fun excursion for the MP runs.

    • @W123KartSport
      @W123KartSport 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In past series Alex has left the gearing alone unless it is absolutely necessary. i.e. an old American car w/ a 2 speed gearbox. His reasoning has been that he could spend stupid amounts of time tweaking the ratios on one car when he could run 2 or 3 in the same amount of time without tuning.

    • @C-M-E
      @C-M-E 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey failrace, just thought I'd ask are you using or have you used a steering wheel in FH5. I've done a bit of googling and it seems like I can't get all these settings right to where the game feels playable. The loss of control and essentially having no way to bring it back without turning the wheels rotation down which then gives the wheel such a twitchy wheel that it's game breaking. Idk maybe I'm too noob but wreckfest and FH4 were great with the wheel

    Metro at the top of S1 is actually one of the only dirt cars that is competitive in that class. Sad that most of the good S1 dirt vehicles are goddamn supercars.

    • @legoferrari14

      I find that the Formula Drift Corolla with an AWD swap and rally tyres+shocks is really good in dirt racing; it has similar proportions to the dedicated rallycross cars like the Focus RX and the Beetle GRC, but over 1100 horsepower while most cars in Rally Monsters can only manage 600-750 tops, at least without overstepping into S2.
      Granted it's some 200kg heavier than the GRC Beetle but it's one of the few things that can rival a Hoonigan RS200 off the line, plus it's more cost-effective than the Dakar 959; including the one you get for buying the Horizon Wilds house.

    I'm sorry, but I can't watch these videos at 30fps. Series X is clearly in the 30fps Quality mode, and the video is recorded at 60fps but there is frame duplication, so it is 30fps in a 60fps container. (You can test this by pressing the > and < keys while paused - this advances 1 frame at a time. You have to press it twice for the frames to advance.)

      On PC when the game is updated, it can reset some graphics settings, perhaps something similar happened to Alex and he hasn't noticed, as I'd bet his capture card is set to produce videos at 60fps. It is a smooth 30, but to my eye I can't hack it - after playing FH4 at over 100fps, and then having to lock FH5 to 60 was bad enough a jump (it's a heavy game to run!)
