Breaking bad, one of the few shows that was perfect from start to finish. Other shows get worse in their final days but breaking bad just kept getting better.
The Shield is another show like this, but I wouldn’t say any show is perfect, let alone from start to finish. Breaking Bad’s earlier seasons are still great but weaker, and it didn’t become top tier till Seasons 4-5 IMO. There are a lot other shows that were better from the start. Personally I’d rank The Wire, The Sopranos, The Shield, Mr. Robot, Monster, The Americans, Mad Men Succession, Better Call Saul, Bojack Horseman, etc. mostly above BB, and some of them next to it.

Even if there were centuries of good shows, you could always have a top ten list. In fact, as long as there isn't infinity of a thing, you can make a top ten list of it. Granted the lists will almost all be pretty subjective but you can make a list.
What I actually is, this video is called "Top 10 TV Shows of All Time", but every contender is American and, as there are non-American shows that are better that most American shows, then some non-American contenders should have been in the video.
Yup. All yank stuff. Some blinders in there. But some of those aren't very popular elsewhere. Seinfeld isn't as popular as Friends in the UK. Nowhere close.
It's not an opinion it's voted on. With that being said breaking bad should be higher and they got the Sopranos at the top which should ALWAYS be the case.
John Docherty So because you’ve never heard of it that must mean it sucks right? Get real dude. You must be about only 13 years old, how haven’t you ever heard of Cheers?
GoT didn't deserve to be on the 4# spot even at it's best. It has some clever plot twists but at the end of the day it's just a bloody porno melodrama set on a fantasy middle age.
maybe if they would have ended the show in season 12 they would be on the top, but 12 amazing seasons against 18 awful season is enough to be on the bottom
Breaking Bad is my all-time favorite show: It takes the drug empire genre, and combines it with comedy, suburbia, family and sadness. It's the best, and with that content on it, it's impossible to hate it that easy.
Nailed it on number 1! The Sopranos is a tv show basically changed how shows were written, had a fantastic storytelling and was centered on a very bizarre theme: a mob boss with depression and anxiety that goes to therapy. Once you see this fragile side of him, you can’t help but to root for him, forgetting about the fact that the guy is a ruthless, cold blooded killer and criminal, racist, or just simply a psychopath. Genius directing in all episodes from all directors and impeccable cinematography. All combined with an amazing cast, and a main character who you never really know what to expect from in any situation, no matter how trivial it might be. But Breaking Bad should be number 2, and The Wire number 3.
Hard choice between the REAL #1 of either The Wire or Breaking Bad. I personally would say: 1. The Wire 2. Breaking Bad 3. Sopranos 4. GOT - if not for them face-planting in S8 could easily be #1 5. Seinfeld
Jaqen H'ghar You can argue The Wire over Mad Men, but not Breaking Bad over Mad Men. Breaking Bad is phenomenal storytelling and contains probably the most unique style of cinematography and visual style that I’ve seen in a show in TV history. But that’s all it has over Mad Men. BB is a more “entertaining” story, which makes it more appealing to the general public and casual TV watchers. Mad Men’s script writing, thematic depth, exploration of the human condition, and cultural analysis of the 60’s cements it as the best period drama ever, and its a better overall written series than Breaking Bad with much more philosophical themes and nuanced characters. Not to sound pretentious, but anyone that knows what truly good writing is knows that The Wire, The Sopranos, and Mad Men are the 3 best in no specific order. Breaking Bad is certainly one of the 5 greatest dramas ever but not a better show than any of those 3, including Mad Men.
I don’t think there is a greatest tv show because there are too many genres to cover. If I had to pick the pick the greatest show it would be the Simpsons (seasons 4-7) because it makes the Simpsons today look like trash and many shows have some direct or indirect influence from the Simpsons. Even South Park made a joke that the Simpsons all ready did it. Their writers were ahead of their time but today they are stuck trying to go back in time. That’s just how good they were.
My top 25: 1. Mad Men 2. Breaking Bad 3. The Sopranos 4. The Wire 5. The Shield 6. Game of Thrones 7. True Detective (season 1) 8. Twin Peaks 9. Lost (seasons 1-4) 10. Justified 11. Oz 12. The Walking Dead (seasons 1-5) 13. The X Files 14. The Twilight Zone 15. Boardwalk Empire 16. Carnivàle 17. Dexter 18. House of Cards (seasons 1-4) 19. 24 20. Six Feet Under 21. Banshee 22. Deadwood 23. Band of Brothers 24. Sons of Anarchy 25. Weeds
My Top 10 TV Shows 1. Breaking Bad 2. Game of Thrones 3. The Sopranos 4. Daredevil 5. Seinfeld 6. The Simpsons (The good seasons imo outways the bad ones) 7. Stranger Things 8. Bates Motel 9. The Walking Dead (I liked all the seasons except 7) 10. Supernatural (seasons 1-5 8 10-11) I don’t like the other seasons
How can you not even put the wire in your list ? Have you not watched it ? I know it's your opinion but it's almost disrespectful not to have it included 😂
It's too much of a mixed bag. There's a huge amount of truly brilliant episodes, but because there's so many episodes in the series as a whole, there's a good few dozen absolute sacks of shit.
1. Breaking bad 2. Sopranos 3. Game of thrones 4. Outlander 5. Dexter 6. Peaky blinders 7. House M.D 8. Daredevil 9. Sons of anarchy 10. F.R.I.E.N.D.S 11. Chernobyl 12. Doctor who 13. Ozark 14. Stranger things 15. Westworld 16. Lost 17. The crown 18. Hannibal 19. Mr robot 20. The haunting of the Hill House
Bruno M Breaking Bad is brilliant storytelling, but I agree The Wire is ahead of it as a top 3 drama ever. 1. Mad Men 2. The Sopranos 3. The Wire 4. Deadwood 5. Breaking Bad
Bruno M Deadwood and Breaking Bad are pretty much interchangeable at the 4 and 5 spots. I also enjoy Breaking Bad more than The Wire but I feel The Wire is genuinely the better written show and deserved to be above it. However The Sopranos and Mad Men are the two most profoundly written series of all time imo.
When you think iconic TV series, Star Trek has got to be there. So many scientists and innovators were inspired by Star Trek. It's not a hyperbole either. There are many specials illustrating how important the show was to them and to our society, but hey... The Leftovers... O-kay.
Oh yes this guy completely is a total airhead not putting Star Trek in. Star Trek paved the way to a lot of cross species interaction, the first kiss of a different race couple, dealing with modern-day subject and put him into the future and teaching a lesson. modern Technologies like the cell phone for instance DVDs, cassette tapes, automatic door openers, computer tablets I'm not talkin iPads get over yourselves . it's just a tablet. a lot more modern tech that I can mention here was thought of because of Star Trek that is why Star Trek needs to be well I'm being bias #1
Mr. Creatinator I disagree, spongebob, while never my favorite show to begin with, went through a significant dip in quality after the first movie, and though it did get better it’s has so much mediocre and downright bad episodes that it would be an honorable mention for me, if at all
Most of the comments say this, and I agree both shows are great, but doctor who isn’t campy all the time, and when it is it actually works like in the end of time
LAR Rodriglu that’s where youre wrong I have seen it many times and I do like it but it’s nowhere Better than the sopranos. So how about you go watch those shows first before commenting
Dude I 100% agree. People all over here are so sold on BB for me BB was incredible but I felt the acting and story telling and symbolism were more defined and realistic in the Wire and Sopranos. Breaking bad was number two on my list. After watching sopranos it dropped to number 3
I get it. I saw BB before i saw The Wire and The Sopranos. I was blown away. But then i saw the other two. I was blown away a second and a third time. They all appeal to me for different reasons. But yeah, i would still keep 'The Wire' as number one. Mostly because I didn't think it was possible to have such a show on TV. But it was. And it was just beautiful.
@@abdur9918 I almost finished Season 4 before I stopped. It does get boring! Every episode is just “another day in the life”. There’s no over arcing storyline, there’s nothing the characters are working towards. There’s no why to this story. With Breaking Bad it was Walt trying to make enough money to take care of his family before he dies leading him to become the largest drug kingpin in history, with Sons of Anarchy it was Jax trying to become President of the club so he could reform the club to his father’s original vision leading him down the same road as his father, with Game of Thrones it was working towards all the kingdoms coming together in a time of war so humanity stands a chance against an invading undead army. With The Sopranos I didn’t know any of the character’s motivations for being who they were. In Season 1 it feels like they’re working towards Tony trying to be Boss and taking that title away from Junior but that’s basically abandoned after Season 1.
It definitely should have been in the honorary mentions. It has been the most irreverent show on TV for over two decades now, and still going strong. That's quite something.
Other HMs: South Park, Star Trek TNG, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Batman: The Animated Series, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Westworld, Gravity Falls, Fawlty Towers, Gilligan's Island, The Andy Griffith Show, The West Wing, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreations, The Office, The IT Crowd, Mr. Bean, Police Squad!, The Muppet Show, etc.
Luke Lauchle .....Was "In The Heat Of The Night" any good? .....I thought the stories, and characters was entertaining myself. .....How about "Family Matters" with Steve Erkel (How ever you spell his name) was it good? .....How about "Night Court" with the funny, and sometimes strange judge? It was funny to me.
@@infinite1875 dont believe a single season can define an entire series. Remember, this is the same series that normalised the killing of main characters. Considering all seasons, best and worst, thats how i placed everything. And yes i have watched the rushed S08, disappointing truly.

The first season has so many bad moments
Breaking bad is great but only started to get good mid season2- season 3. Pacing is horrible before that
The Shield is another show like this, but I wouldn’t say any show is perfect, let alone from start to finish.
@@unknownwarrior5672 Even I was feeling that way when I started the show but when I rewatched it, there was not a single moment that seemed boring to me, not at all.

@@duncanabram7098 Sopranos
I personally would say:
1. The Wire
2. Breaking Bad
3. Sopranos
4. GOT - if not for them face-planting in S8 could easily be #1

oK it’s between The Sopranos and Mad Men for the best dramas ever imo. The Wire, Breaking Bad, and Deadwood are all close though
@@duncanabram7098 YOURE a mad man if you think Mad Men is better than the Wire or Breaking Bad
I would have put Breaking Bad at #1 but that’s just me
Me too, I won't watch this list no more 😂 BB first forever
Breaking bad doesn't come close to the wire
Well that’s just like ur opinion man
I don’t think there is a greatest tv show because there are too many genres to cover.
This list did not age well after a year.

Bruno M Deadwood and Breaking Bad are pretty much interchangeable at the 4 and 5 spots. I also enjoy Breaking Bad more than The Wire but I feel The Wire is genuinely the better written show and deserved to be above it. However The Sopranos and Mad Men are the two most profoundly written series of all time imo.
.............Star Trek?
Fintan Yeah. I mean it was so foundational for the sci-fi genre but pretty progressive for TV in general, First interracial kiss, first lesbian kiss.
