Cheers from Canada. Sad to see Phoenix lose its franchise but i am incredibly happy for Salt Lake to get a team. Glad to see former WHL Pro cities get franchises. First Vancouver, LA, Seattle and now Salt Lake. Anyone remember the Golden Eagles?

It will be interesting to see how things unfold when Phoenix gets an NHL size arena in an optimal location. I'm looking forward to the excuse that they will give when they search for a prospective owner to put a team in Phoenix but not Quebec City.

Renovate the Delta Center instead of building a new arena? I was under the impression that a new arena is going to be built. The Delta Center was going to be renovated and used only as a temporary measure.

I liked what whatshisface said until brought up Phoenix getting a team back. Phoenix failed (or it wouldn't have) and that's that move on already.

The Coyotes failed because of the ownership. Their attendance took a dip when they moved out of Phoenix, but even then, most games were at 70% capacity. They didn't lose their arena because of low fan turnout. They lost it because the owners didn't pay rent on time.
Phoenix is a large market, and it makes a lot of sense to try there again because of its size. The only baffling part of it is that Bettman is willing to offer the franchise back to Meruelo, who very much should not be in charge of a hockey team.
