I have had a microstream for 5 years, it's been run over, threw the washing machine, frozen, has no finish and still works perfectly

Thanks for the information, I carry a few different lights in my pocket and have lost a few either while in uniform or otherwise and when you go for more powerful light you give up and carry less

I dont have this one, but the Microstream is my goto EDC light! I will however say the Olight i5t will give this a run for its money!
Between my wife and son, I have no USB cables. By my count I should have at least 142 cables, but I only have 2. 1 in the car and 1 in the wall.

Picked up two of these with your LA police gear link. Love this light. I have both the coyote microstream and the new macrostream.
I’m looking at buying that same combo of lights from Amazon, do you still recommend those two lights?
Literally yesterday almost bought the microstream coyote USB... but now I may hold out for this one!
I have had the micro usb for about a year now & had the AAA version before that. I really like these lights for how small they are. I usually run it on the low setting & rarely need the high output.
Get the Microstream anyway - you'll find a use for it even after the Macro eventually comes out. I don't think you can possibly buy a better light for the price of the Microstream USB.
get the microstream if you havent already. fantastic overall light.

best edc overall would be protac 90 or 1l-1aa
protac 2lx is a great option but kind of big. great performance and battery compatibility
I’ve been EDC’ing a Protac 2LX with the 18650 micro usb batteries for almost two years now. GREAT LIGHT! It’s anodizing is nearly worn off but that’ll happen carrying it everyday. I have $75 in the light and 2 18650 batteries.
Kwit Urbitchin would you consider changing to this one? I have to 2lx too just wondering
Christian Morales only if I wanted to carry a smaller light. I’m pretty happy with the 2LX, so happy that I bought another one.
i wouldnt switch.
the 2lx may be bigger, but offers more battery compatibility and ten tap ui. you know how the pocket clip is on the 2lx.
i would honestly buy another 2lx instead of the macro. you already have batteries and are familiar with the light.
microstream usb if you want a smaller powerful edc.
wowtac a1s if you want a fantastic budget light, usb rechargeable 18650 giving you 3 batteries that will work in both lights. its big like the 2lx though
I also have the 2-LX and it’s pretty solid also.
I've carried a good ole AAA microstream for a very long time. You just can't go wrong with streamlight

I have lost 2 AAA Microstreams, I got this light hoping I don’t lose it. Looks like a great light so far.

I bought this light a few weeks ago and have been using it for EDC. Really nice size and I’m happy with its performance. I do wish I had the ability to run it on it’s bright setting all the time instead of going to dim after tapping the momentary twice. A “ten tap” in this light would be great.

How do you think the Macrostream compares to the Protac 2lx? I currently have a microstream usb and a hlx usb. The former is a little underpowered and the latter isn't really pocket friendly. I'm debating on which of the two wrong be the perfect medium

I’m a big fan of the micro stream, just wish they’d get with the program and use type c connection to recharge. Those are waterproof.
Got me ‘jonesing’ for it but they’re unobtanium right now. Link dumps you to older models? Hope they come out soon - looks like a great product.
Two things: I really wish they could do a duel duel with a AA even if it would decrease the power when using the back up batteries. Also this could make a really good small weapon light if it were rated for such
They have the Protac 1L-AA which is cr123 and AA dual fuel.
@@bl8danjil exactly what i was looking for haha thank you. i have the mini that uses the single AAA and i love it but its high output does leave alittle to be desired, i love the low setting though.
@@50shadesofcerakote it also comes in Protac 90, not to be confused with the new Protac 90x which is 18650/cr123 dual fuel.
fenix 14500 runs great in my protac 90. i used 10 tap to make it high only and it serves my needs well

Would like to see rifle mounting options for these smaller body diameter lights. Assuming they could handle the recoil. The output of some of these small lights is what you saw from full size weapons lights 10 years ago.
if somebody would 3d print an mlok mount or compatible ring to your existing light mount that would be so cool.
hopefully there would be enough interest that someone could scan then draw it up on cad. i'd be down for a couple that fit the microstream and stylus pro.

I already went through 2 batteries on my micro stream usb and I’ve had it 1 1/2 years
if we can customize a handguard mount for that, can it be used well as a weapon light for SBRs, PCCs, rifles? or is it rated for rifle mount use? Thanks!

Love the Microstream, 250 lumens on a AAA size light is awesome and outperforms a lot of similar sized lights like the Olight i3T. The Macrostream is large though. Taller than a Fenix LD30 and S2R2 and only slightly thinner, but at 1/4 the output and weak runtimes by comparison. Feels like carrying a 18650 light but performs like a 14500. Micro USB in 2020 is also a miss.
Number of lumens isn't everything, specially when it drops after a few minutes.
I have one I m using recharging battery and put in the steamlight but it bright enough and good beam I like to have two or four recharge battery for back up . One flash light waiting for full charge it take 4 hours to complete
Does Streamlight make a belt sheath for the MacroStream? If not, what would fit this light?
I have the Microstream, Microstream USB, and about 20 other Streamlights. One of the best small EDC lights is the Lumintop Tool AA using a 14500 battery

Micro USB charging. UGH.... It's 2020 and the world has moved to USB C. It would have been so much better if this could recharge from my phone/headphones/laptop cable. Don't really wanna carry a dedicated cable around. Nonethless, thanks for another great review 👍
I would like the MacroStream if it had high candela. For blinding someone low candela didnt work well.
How long does the battery last???
I've had horrible luck with streamlight stylus pros and micro stylus pros. Works for maybe a week and then stops working. Sample group is over several years with 2 regular stylus and 4 micros. Survival rate is usually a couple months max.
I just got a new Macrostream. I'm finding if my light sits for any amount of time longer than a few minutes it will revert itself to a mode where it is in low light mode on the first click. Is anyone else experiencing this? Do I have a defective light? This doesn't seem normal.
Is it going to be 500 lumens until it dies or is it 500 likens for like 2 minutes like an olight.

Macrostream is brighter (more lumens) than 1L-1AA (CR123)
1L-AA has a brighter hot spot than Macrostream (flood)
Macrostream will stand on lens but not on tail (button rubber prevents this)
Hey lookit that...Streamlight catching up to where almost everyone else was about 5 years ago. Is that an 18650? It doesn't seem like it as the 800 mAh rating would be tiny compared to any others. 14500?

i trust streamlight. have a TLR7 on my EDC pistol and a TLR1HL on my ar15. friends olight failed with less than 300 rounds through the pistol. mines got between 4 and 5k through it without a hiccup

Wish they would have gone with USB C. A lot of things are moving away from Micro USB, kind of a miss for a brand new design.
But everyone has a million micro USB chargers all over the place. So if you’re ever in a pinch someone will have one. Not so much with USB C
@@josh48315 You mean cables? Yeah. The chargers almost always have full size USB ports with new ones switching to USB C.
@@josh48315 Micro USB is on the way out, USB C is replacing it in everything. Personally, I only have 1 thing that still takes Micro USB, my bluetooth headphones, everything else is USB C. Using a connector that is being actively phased out just does not make sense to me for a newly designed product.
@@hwi7114 everything i own is a micro usb with the exception on a 20,000mah battery pack i just picked up for work. was kinda bummed it uses a USB C cause i dont have any cables for it. i have tons of micros though
bl8danjil yeah cable, everyone has tons of those already. Not everyone has USB C. I have a pair of Sony headphones that are USB C, and so I only have 1 cord. But I have a million micro USB cables around I can always find one if needed. Same goes for everyone else. Not everyone has C, but you can pretty much guarantee that almost I everyone has a micro. Maybe streamlight was trying to keep cost down by not using the newer USB C, just a guess. And since everyone already has micro USB but not everyone has USB C, this keeps you from having to buy a new cable since you already have plenty around.
So what’s best for the batteries, keeping the charge topped off, or wait till it is almost dead?

This vid was the deciding factor which one to go with , thanks . I ah e the stylus pro , the 360 for the lantern effect is good for me and a tlr 1HL on my rifle . You know what’s not a bad flashlight is the nikron n7 with the 3.7 volt battery 14500 or whatever it calls for . Cheap too for 500 lumens bit inky with the high power battery . So a macro stream it is unless you get back to me with the latest greatest for edc flashlight . I like the momentary button because I inspect a lot of areas and have to climb up in attics and crazy places . I just gave up cutting trees since I m getting older but it was always fun gratifying work to take a tree down where no lifts could go . I haven’t been shooting much since ammo and everything is going through the roof , right ? Maybe a little 😝. I was at Sherwin Williams today and have a business account there and what once was a $35 a gallon for super paint is now $49.xx just under $50 because people would really raise an eyebrow . Anyways it’s nuts . Never fails soon as a democratic president goes into office hard times occur . Every single time too .
Really need light companies to switch to USB-C. So many great features but I don't keep micro USB with me anymore.

@@treyh0079 USB-C is the standard port for most if not all current and upcoming phones. Micro USB is on the decline. Full size USB ports are really only used for charging from a computer or wall/car charger and not to a device for charging.
