Love how you brought the Nokia and comp mags in... Looks straight of a desk in the 90s

Seeing the hex listing of the programs brings back fond memories of my father and I taking turns reading the data while the other typed it in. Thanks. :)

Superb idea, design and execution. Bonus points for Amiga disks! 😎

This is fantastic! I feel slightly honoured to have a disk I made on the front (AF)

Cool, that's a fun coincidence. I placed that specific disk in the front because I found it to be a nice clean label and well... trackers and Amiga's are just awesome.

What an awesome idea! It's always a treat to see your videos!
For the bottom of the disk perhaps some duck tape folded over the edge would have suffice? Altho the plastic filling tecnique was interesting!
All the best for this totally underrated channel!

You do have a point that a simple strip of tape could have solved the problem of the edges of the disk.
However, the problem with tape is that there is a pretty big chance that the tape might come loose. And since the guide-wheels rotate past the disk continuously it is just a matter of time before the tape gets peeled of completely and jams the mechanism. Although this perhaps could be solved by using proper tape applying techniques.
I also wondered (but by then it was already way too late in the design process) if I should not have a simple thick plastic strip in between the cam and the disk. I'm glad I went for the friction welding technique, it worked pretty well and perhaps it could inspire other makers if they have a similar problem.

Very nice build! Wouldn't it be more interesting to randomize the order of the disks so when the transition happens it feels a bit more 'natural'? Not sure if you know what I mean 😅

You have a good point there. There is no reason why this could not be done, the only thing required would be a disk position/translation table in the software. That table would hold the positions of all the disks. However... placement mistakes are easily made but not immediately noticed. But it would certainly result in a more interesting display.

Zou een floppy niet gewoon weer werken als je 'm laat opdrogen?

ssssssssssssssstttt, niet doorvertellen. Maar een paar weekjes boven de CV (in de winter en met het klepje op en regelmatig roteren) doet wonderen. Echter... opnieuw intypen is sneller.
