I realize Im kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good place to watch newly released series online ?
@Jacob Cody I use flixzone. Just google for it =)
I’ve watched a lot of videos over the years about harvesting/pruning basil, but this is by far the best explanation that I’ve seen! I’ve only ever heard to prune above the nodes, but wasn’t identifying them properly. Thank you for not only including how, but WHY! I didn’t realize that I’ve actually been killing some of my plants.
This made me realize how much basil I let go to waste not pruning correctly!
I have watched tons of videos on how to prune basil and this is the only one that showed and explained EXACTLY what I needed to do. THANK YOU!
I love eating it fresh and I put Basil in almost everything.
This is great, Thanks for the tips. I'd love a video like this on cilantro. I have a hell of a time keeping cilantro alive. When I see blooming start, i clip the blooms quickly to keep foliage growth. this works with most greens, but not so much with the cilantro.
Thanks for the basil tip. My basil has been mature for weeks, but my toms are still green. This will help me stretch out my fresh basil so I can have it with my fresh, sloooowly ripening tomatoes.
So glad I watched your video because my friend gave me a basil plant in a pot and there are so many flowers. Anyway, I pruned the plant following this video. Looking for "growth points" etc before pruning. So easy to follow and educational haha love it! Thank you so much 💚💚💚
The fragrance of basil is indescribable.
Thanks for the lesson on pruning basil. I love making pesto and or adding to any Italian dish.
I low stress train my basil and my Jalapenos. Top them twice and bend the main tops sideways and tie off. The all the shoots grow vertically creating a canopy of shoots. The mature plants are basically shrubs when they grow out. We grow Thai basil and eat it a lot.
The jalapeño plant grew has over 50 peppers and still setting fruit.
Thanks for your wisdom, i am a first time Gardner and my Basil is really growing and i was wondering when to harvest. Thanks to you, i know how now. God bless you
I wish I watched this first! Most clear explanation!
Beautiful garden..
This was terrific. I needed the help. I particularly love lemon pea pesto. I follow an Ina garden recipe, adding a bag of defrosted peas and a whole lemon. Everyone loves it! Sweet from the peas and fresh from the lemon. It usually needs a bit more olive oil.
Wonderful video! Thank you - I'm going to try for the first time to prune our basil plant 💕
Superb video as always. Learnt a lot and enjoyed the tips in our garden as well.
I've always grown basil but they always bolted & I never knew how to prune. Thank you SO MUCH!!
Great looking plants! 👏
Pesto and thinly sliced in salad are my favorite ways to use basil.
Nice video. This process is similar to how marijuana farmers suggest pruning to get a bushier plant with more flower sites. You also mentioned this basil pruning process works for generating clones. However, with the tomato plants you want to remove the sucker, and not the "new growth sites". I use this same process with aquarium plants to get a thicker, bushier looking plant. Since this process works on so many different plants is this something that will work on ALL plants that branch, or only certain types of plants? Sorry I am not sure of the proper verbiage to word my question. What I am trying to ask, is this something you can say usually works for "X" type plants, or some other qualifying factor. So I know when to prune, or create clones, in this style versus just cutting back random growth, or like in tomatoes to remove suckers. Also, the shirts look great.
Your basil is doing great! How do you package it for the market? I have trouble keeping it from spoiling. Thanks is advance!
Omg I’ve been pruning wrong all along! Thank you for this! 😅
Okay so I have watched almost a dozen videos on basil and finale FINALE I got it! Thanks you!
Your basils looks nice and healthy. Mines are lengthy and the bugs are getting to them.
Great video! Can you please please please make a video about pruning rosemary, if you haven't already.
Really lovely video. Wondering if can directly put the cuttings into ground instead of water? I had mixed results with that. Thanks.
Great explanation and visual, I was always confused. But should I put the clipped ones in water if I'm not ready to use it? Only bc im in an apartment. Ty!
Excellent video, explained pruning process very well !!
Beautiful Lecture and Plants!
I live in Michigan so our cooler seasons aren't good for growing basil. However, is it possible to continually grow basil indoors even in winter? Question 2: Should I allow some of my basil plants to go to flower in order to collect the seeds from them? Do I collect basil seeds like I collect lettuce seeds: Put the flowers in a paper bag and shake it to release the seeds from the flowers? Thank you!
Great advice. Thanks so much!
Great video and explanation, I am looking forward to seeing how my basil plants grow now. Thank you :)
I think Honey Tree Farm makes basil infused olive oil. Not sure how to do that or how.much basil per oil. Sounds yummy, though!
Leave aside the basil... what are you doing with those tomatoes? Look at those brunch size :O Amazing! What sort are the tomatoes?
Thanks! They are doing the best ever this year, 3 years of regenerative no till soil development is the answer. Here's How I planted these tomatoes this year th-cam.com/video/SKimpirgpT8/w-d-xo.html The varieties are black cherry, sweet 100, sungold, yellow pear, and edox.
Good presentation. Thank you.
Dude, we have the same hat. Best investment I've ever made 🤣
Looking for some help! I have a small but long woody Thai Basil plant (almost a foot and half of wood growth) then the tops of green leaves (only about 4 leaves) How do I trim this guy? Can I cut into the woody base to trim him back? I don't want to kill it but he's getting too tall to be supported any more. Thanks in advance!!
I'd call this creatively the "Chandelier pruning". I do this with mint (about each one or two nodes) and it works nicely. It's more like a 1,3ing. Thyme responds also similar. I guess, there are many responding like these.
Thank you for your vids, fellow human. Thank you to the plants, too! (I hope they don't feel pain.)
Ah. Bees - there's also Anis Ysop (sorry, using the german name for it). Now, there's a bee friend!
Have good harvests!
Hi, new to your channel and your videos are great. Just finished my tomato lower/lean trellis. Question about basil. I seem to constantly find eaten holes in my basil leaves and have had no luck locating the pest that is responsible or a good product that may help. Any organic products you recommend to keep the basil loving pests away? Thanks in advance.
You even can use the cut off branches to start new plants as clones. Just put them in water and they will start rooting again and start a new plant. No seeds necessary.
Once you prune the Basil how do you store it or do you plant for more Basil
Would you recommend pruning basil grown indoors from seed before transplanting? Or do you recommend waiting until transplanted in the garden bed? Thanks for the knowledge!
I'd wait till they are translpanted
Great tip. Thanks.
I have some young basil. The stems and some of the leaves are light green. The stems are dry, how can I fix these
I needed this! Also some of my basil is getting flowers, can I still harvest some or should I cut them off/harvest what I have & let the plant grow? Wait nevermind!! Here comes the flowers part!!Should I just pinch/cut them off then harvest below or should I wait to harvest?
Pinch them off and harvest if ready, or just wait and let more leaves grow.
Nature's Always Right I did this tonight. Thank you so much!
Caprease salad is yummy.
Excellent basil pruning video but it’s also time for him to prune his eyebrows. 😁
Do you have anything on dill? I am not sure how to care for my small dill plant everything I find is for really large ones
What if there is no leaf growth from the croch of the lower leafs can I still prune the top part
What do you mean by harvest, eat it or dry it? Can you root it in water?
Thanks was helpful 😊
Do you o+nly sell the leaves with small stems?
Super helpful, thanks!
Thanks for the info, and shard
Does basil grow all year around?
Can it still be used after it bolts?
Excellent tutorial! :)
Good info thanks
Why are you throwing away the basil blossoms? The blossoms are just as flavorful as the leaves!-CB
Thanks
Thanks man
great video, make sure you remember to prune those eyebrows too tho my man
Great video thanks for sharing
Ur eyebrows are from different universe 👁️👄👁️
I love the hat! :)
The pruner in your hand sure does look like Corona, not Felco. I've used Corona for over 30 years, and they are my favorite. I don't care for the spring mechanism on the Felco. To each their own.
I must be a bee, I love the smell I love to brush up against it
Pruning is too fast and a bit hard to see. A bit more detail would be great!
Super helpful, thank you!
Very helpful. Thank you!
